No Man's Sky gets released like, soon, I guess ¯\_()_/¯

I don't want to play his white knight but he did post an updated post which talked about the docking glitch he experienced which in turn didn't spawn better ships for him for the remainder of his trip. Sure he did spread some misinformation but he did try to cover his ass by explaining what it was that caused it.

Fair play to the guy. He was really sound about spoilers too

Isn't the pop in only really an issue when flying in-atmosphere?

From what I played today, yes. You see minor pop in on foot and easily ignorable pop in in space, but in atmo it's very heavy.

The game definitely has slot of meaningful content so it's easy to forget + forgive

Can I just say that first streamer was talking such shit about not finding ships and upgrades not working and stuff. I'm two hours in and have seen like three potential way better ships, loads of upgrades (which seem to work) and loads of tool abilities. Seems decent balanced

Cheers man. Yeah the game's excellent but I'm sure the update will improve a lot of things. It's polished but still rough around some edges.

¯_(ツ)_/¯

Good to get some more confirmation on some his bs, whether he was lying or just wrong.

The first steamer has a track record for stating his error as fact, or 'bugs', when it was just him.

Hi!
Just passing by to solve the problem, imho
The problem is not the seller [it] is the buyer. He is a farse! He did this kind of thing before just for attention.

EDIT: Apparently the OP or mod, deleted the leaker's links of false claims from games like Bloodborne, Witcher 3, FO4, etc..

Imagine playing this game for years before finally seeing another human player. It would be mind-blowing.

So how will online work? Will there be servers? If so, how many players per server? Will it work by proximity? So
many questions.

EDIT:

"Murray describes the multiplayer of No Man’s Sky as having all of the online players “flying around with an open lobby,” but since the game world is so huge those players will almost never run into one another. The game is equipped to handle another player or two flying past, but there’s no need to make it capable of handling thousands or even dozens of players on screen at the same time."

I watched 15 minutes of an archived stream where the player was walking around collecting resources, upgrading his tool/suit and discovering new life with ambient music playing in the background.

I need this game immediately!

This game has online? I thought it didn't.

content on that reddit is deleted.

I just noticed. Lame. Because it had a wealth of links to false claims from other games he acquired very early, which sent reddit and here into a fritz.

People that do this need to be held accountable, so people do not take their word as gospel with all the concern trolling it panders to.

"Shipping Soon" It was listed as shipping yesterday and then it never did and they changed it to "Shipping Soon"

It still claims to be here by Tuesday.....

Mine says the same. Usually it is like that for places closer to their distribution centers. Otherwise one would get it way too early compared to the retail agreements.

I have had it always say this, and always received them on release day. *fingers crossed*

You have to be pretty close to something to actually see it. If youre flying around in your ship above ground you cant actually see any wild life until you land as the assets only pop in once your within a few meters of them. That alone will make seeing another person practically impossible.

We don't really know.

So far more people have said 60 than 30. But everyone has said it's smooth.

I never thought there'd be so much chatter about framerates.. I only notice them when they dip horrifically.

I notice a huge difference between 30 and 60. I really hope it's a smooth 60.

How big are the planets? Game map size?
Like GTA big or ....?

BIG. Debatable whether they are the size of real planets, but they are certainly at least as big as like.... the moon. We're talking many, many days to traverse on foot. You never will.

PC Gamer here myself. I can understand the issue some have. However there is a difference between choppy and smooth frame rates. I'd much rather have a constant and stable 30fps that does not ever dip, then an inconsistent 60fps that never stays at a constant 60fps with frame drops all over the place.

Folks need to take more consideration into frame rate for the sake of consistency and providing a smooth gameplay experience and not on how many numbers of frames can be pushed through the renderer.

It's bad enough who got some folks who outright to refuse to play some games regardless of their quality on a game in terms of mechanics, storyline, music, simply ignoring the experience as a whole because they are hung up on framerate.

The only time framerate should ever be an issue is if it directly impacts and detracts from the being able to properly play the game. Smoothness and consistency should always be a priority so it never becomes a stuttering mess or things like frame pacing occurs.

I remember some folks thought Driveclub was a slideshow because it was 30fps, despite it's sense of speed.

A guy on a stream tried earlier in the week and gave up after 20 minutes and ~5 million miles.

I've been looking forward to playing this game for 3 years now, but another aspect I'm really looking forward to is people trying crazy stuff.

- Someone will tape their controller up, point it at a star, and leave it for weeks then edit together a timelapse for us.

- Someone will attempt to fly between Solar Systems (Sean said it's possible, it would just take a ridiculous amount of time so they haven't bothered trying it).

- Someone will try and exterminate all life on a planet (they'd probably need a very small moon though :D)

- A decent percentage of people will dedicate a lot of time trying to meet up with someone else. It'll take forever, and it'll be really hard, but someone will manage it eventually, and then we'll finally see what, if anything, happens (as in, what does each player see of the other). This will also give us our only look at what the player model actually looks like (confirmed by Sean).

- Someone will walk around an entire planet.

I'm sure there's heaps of other crazy stuff people will attempt in this game. I love stuff like that :)

Agreed on all points. 60 with minor dips would be ideal but 30 smooth is by no means a deal breaker.

Edit: I'm playing on PS4 but if I was on PC and I could hypothetically choose between 60 fps with gnarly world generation or 30 fps and pushed back world generation, I'd likely go for the latter.

All of this is true, but the expectation was set when they announced that it'd be 60 through their presentation. I don't mind them running it back ala UC4, but better to do that before release than a few days/on release.

If that's the case. Most people are saying it's 60 anyway.

Oh man, the posibilities are going to be nuts.

I'm still determined to fly into a Sun / Star.

It's one of the first things I planned to do. I think I'm going to load up my entire inventory on nothing but boost fuel and drop everything else that isn't needed to achieve this goal. Just so I can go as far as I can as fast as I can before running out of boost.

I will constantly boost at max speed and see what happens when you fly into a Star or if the ship gets heat damage for getting too close.

Hopefully better ships allow you to travel faster distances and are more fuel efficient. It would be kind of a waste to upgrade to a super awesome ship, only to destroy it by flying into a Star but I must know if it's possible.

Sorry if this has been posted already.

That was a nice little overlook over the project. It's nice to have a dream and goal to aspire to and being able to actually fulfill it. I hope NMS lives up to Sean Murray's expectations.

To me it's just an awesome looking space game where I can fly to different planets and explore. Like an interactive version of Celesia or Space Engine. That is all I ever wanted.

You can't. You can't even crash into planets, the game doesn't let you collide with things. If you try flying straight at a mountain it just moves you out the way.

What. I don't like this. It was stated in earlier interviews that if you try to fly into an object you crash your ship.

I don't like the idea of collisions being removed. Even if it was a screen turning to static or fading to black and saying you died would have more than sufficed, but to have absolutely no collisions at all.

Meh.

So there are roll controls? Can you roll and fly "upside down" on planets?

Yes.

Also, I've spent basically all of my playtime today (about 4 or 5 hours now) on one really awesome looking planet. Vast orange-red grasslands, huge mountains, rich oceans, incredibly complex and seemingly interminable cave systems. Really cool stuff. It's the only planet in this star system, so I guess it's just really big and packed with a whole system's worth of stuff.
