No Mans Sky releasing June 21, LEs revealed, maybe getting free post launch support

That box art is extremely nice. I'm not sold on it yet however, going to wait for reviews and GAF opinions to roll in. I need to see some opinions on how fun it actually turns out to be.

I always tell folks: If you've want to see a game comparable to NMS currently out, I always recommend Starbound on Steam. It's 2D, but I've sank over 300 hours in. It's delicious.

Just about to pre order from Amazon. Something I never do.

May even take the day off work to jump in when it arrives.

Absolutely excited for this game.

Uncharted 4 will help the wait.

I've already told friends and family not to expect to hear from me much after June 21st until at least August.

I hope I am wrong, but i do have this feeling this game will flop fast. I want to play it but i don''t see this as a 60$ value game. I am not sure it will be interesting to just explore random planet one after the other. am i missing something here ? does the game finish after you explore one planet after the other ?

Just wish they'd stop doing steelbooks. I.

SHHHH. the best thing about LE is the Steelbooks

These threads are gonna kill me man.

I think for me the game could reignite a sense of adventure, which I think has been lost over the years with open-ended, nonlinear games. I just don't get the urge to explore in such games like I used to, and it is something that at one time I used to crave. I know there are other games like this about, with vast galaxies to explore, but none of them appear as captivating as this. I hate wishing my life away but June can't come fast enough.

Heh.. I had to ditch my Bloodborne LE just to get rid of the steelbook.

But come on! They're only made out of the cheapest most flimsy tinfoil and has an acrylic inside that you break the disk trying to remove from and will never close right after you open the first time

Got a curious interest on that game, but one thing is bugging me a little. Why when your in space, it always have that yellowish space color? Id love to see some deep space black, to feel in space.

I highly recommend checking out Subnautica. Early Access, but the devs are incredibly good at releasing huge content-filled updates very regularly and it's the game that rekindled my interest in the explore/survive/craft genre. Its alien ocean is one of the most interesting and unique environments I've ever explored in the genre. Everything you do and craft is to further your ability to explore more and explore more efficiently. Guide lines, air pipes, scanners, oxygen tanks, beacons, etc.

I'm intrigued by this game since I'm the type who can sit and watch shows about the Universe for hours at a time. Plus I love science fiction. I'm slightly hesitant that it will get repetitive quickly, but I'm going to gamble and preorder. No gas giants in the game is a bit of a bummer though.

Was up in the air about the vinyl release, I love my vinyl but the deal is even sweeter when whomever is selling it also includes the .FLAC files.

Paused on that alone and now it's sold out. Darn

How are you opening your cases? I have never had or seen this happen.

but $60 = bomba

Nope. It feels like people are more willing to spend $60 for a brand new game than $30-40. It you want to selll your game without complaints you gotta go 0-$20 or $60.

I'm asking a legit question about how death is handled.

From one of the many NMS interviews I've listened to Shaun said that the game is constantly autosaving and when you die it'll roll you back to an earlier save. Thats how I understood it anyway.

If you die on a planet, you’ll find yourself revived back at your ship having lost items you hadn’t stowed and discoveries you hadn’t uploaded. If you die in space, you find yourself revived at the nearest space station, without your ship, items and discoveries.

Hmm...sounds promising. If death is fairly high stakes, then the game could become absolutely absorbing and compelling.

Thank you

I'm really tempted to pre-order the LE, eventhough I wasn't planning to buy the game day one. Too bad it doesn't include the soundtrack in digital form.

I thought this was going to be an online only game, but the GOG release should mean that it's playable offline also? Online games aren't neccesarly DRM games, but I don't think I've seen an online depedent release on GOG so far.

Yeah, it has an offline mode so you can have the universe to yourself, if you want.

I've been following that one for a while now on Steam. It does look really good.

Do we know if the a species will exist on other planets, or if every species is unique to the planet on which it exists?

In other words could I land on a planet no one has discovered, but when I scan some fish the species name is already there because another explorer on another planet already discovered them?

I'll reiterate since you are misunderstanding. I stated a detail of the game I don't like, losing ships upon death (and only then I think the sucky-ness is contingent on how much backtracking and time you need to spend to get back to where you were). Then as an afterthought, I realize one of the pre-order incentives is a ship. I thought wow, you could start the game, use your incentive ship, make a dumb move or die or be the victim of some digital BS and lose it permanently. Then it gets spun it into a pre-order discussion. Too funny.

I'm excited to experience the game and looking forward to June, but boy throw in one criticism, state your opinion that may not be favorable or say anything except praise and some people respond in a manner that makes one think they take it personal.

think of the pre-order incentive as delaying the tutorial of building a ship til after you die the 1st time.
