No Man's Sky Spoiler Thread

Just, no. They don't send demo builds around on discs that work on retail PS4s. At least not ones that are the entire game (edited this in as shorted demo experiences, sure, those could be on discs that run on retail kits). Shit would be digital and on the HDD. Discs for demos or dev builds was rarely a thing by the end of LAST gen. At least in my experience.

Though I have to say, the 7 stages picture is just as annoying. It's making pretty wild assumptions about what people wanted from the game and how disappointed they are going to be. I wanted space exploration minecraft minus the building aspect. That's what I wanted and expected since it was announced. Sounds like what I'm going to get.

edit: Now, I wouldn't be shocked if there was a balancing and bug fixing patch that wasn't applied to what the guy played. Won't drastically change what the game is, but would change how long it took to do things.

It doesn't matter if this is an early copy or not, seeing as most of the 'issues' are bugs and balancing things which can be fixed in the day 1 patch.

The basic gameplay is going to be the same, so there's not going to be some revelatory change.

The two things that seem genuinely 'wrong' are the planets scanned and labeled as 'no fauna' having animals on them, and the tool levelling backwards - perhaps the atlas stones too, but that may just be by design.

Basically the mechanics of the game won't really change. This is what it is, everything else is just tweaks.

A lot of what that reddit thread is saying is misrepresenting what the leaker said, or just doesn't make sense. Don't get your hopes up too high, guys.

Also, do we even have confirmation that reviewers have the game yet, much less when the embargo ends?

o mai gad... revenge 2.0.

edit: ITS ALMOST POETIC. PEOPLE GETTING WEIRDER AND WEIRDER APPROACHING THE CENTER OF THE... RELEASE DATE, JUST LIKE THE GAME ITSELF.

It always did strike me as odd that the final retail box would include a pamphlet that is advertising the game itself, and with the old date to boot.

I'm not fully buying the demo theory yet, but it's a fascinating idea for sure.

This thread is large, is there a summary of cool spoilers available anywhere in the thread?

* There are some crashes to fix
* There is a levelling bug to fix
* The value of one stone could be nerfed, but it doesn't really matter.
* You fly around and look at stuff.

Basically the day 1 patch will probably fix things and then people need to accept what the game is. Nothing has really changed.

We're never going to get confirmation most likely. If I was Hello Games I would just ignore the leak entirely. If you come out and say it's a demo, you fuel the idea that the real game is better, which might only lead to more crashed hype if the leak is a demo, but still very similar to the final product. If you say it isn't a demo, you just derail your entire marketing campaign immediately. The best course of action for them is likely to be radio silent, and that's what they will likely do.

Yeah, so the "Seed" can me different for everybody.

AND when you send yours planet in the atlas, it get load randomly into other people games.

The 18 quintillion is just a number of possibility, not the universe totally mapped.

Just like when a game come out with heavy customization. And they say : 2million possibility.

I just "hate" to see people over-hype the game, as "There is a entire universe in this game". It's not lol. It's just random generated planet from seed. They "pop-out" as you get to them.

And that why the game is not really MP. That you "can't meet" because there is not a "global universe" where all the seed/coding planet are the same at the same spot.

I guess if there is some MP it will be at the center of universe, or some "game-event" MP oriented.

No no no. The seed is not different for everybody. We're all playing from the same seed. The same map. That's the point.

If you and I meet at the same point in the galaxy we'll see the same planet and same creatures. We probably won't see each other, but the place will be identical.

And again, it's not random.

I'm not overhyping here. These are just facts. The game might be a disappointment and these leaks don't sound brilliant.

Reviewing most of that mod post thread, it basically comes down to:

"This doesn't match up with what we think the game is or have been told the game is so we think it is not the final copy."

e: there are some fishy things with the street date on the case and such, but I don't think that is enough to invalidate the leaker alone

Is it possible an older version of a game would be made and shipped to a store?

There is a chance that the one day patch should fix a lot of these issues [and make the game much more grindier].

It's highly unlikely they printed any other copies of the previous versions. You don't start printing until you go Gold, which didn't happen until this month iiirc.

Perhaps. They've already stated they've started working on Update 1, and it's not uncommon for games to have broken/buggy release versions to rush the game for Gold certification and then fix things with a patch at release. Still, there's no guarantee for sure.

Exactly - I really don't understand what the big problem is. The game has some bugs and balancing issues. That's it.

It's still a game where you explore planets, craft stuff, upgrade, and try to get to the centre of the galaxy. I think the only difference is perhaps that the galaxies are discrete and not freely interwoven - which seems to make sense conceptually, to me at least.

A lot of the discussion has focused on the time to reach the center and the mystery that is waiting there. Since the leaker kind of hinted at what was at the center, along with how long it took them personally to reach it, there's been a ton of arguments/debates/backlash.

A demo copy would be odd. The only thing I could imagine was the one a few months back where journalists had a hands on with it and had completely different experiences. But other more recent demo's only had a single solar system available.

More likely is just an unpatched version. Also, do we know if reviewers have copies of the game at all? It might be like Blizzard games where they simply don't do review copies because they don't want anything to leak out etc.

Or maybe my Pre-21 June build ends up being accurate after all XD.

Though, the idea he somehow bought a preview demo copy of the game would be all kinds of amazing and would really complete the rollercoaster this is being. Almost as fun as playing an actual video game!

I'd like to know if the game displays a version at the main menu or not hmm. Though I'll have to find that intro video again to be sure.

I think the two most damning pieces of evidence that the support the "stolen" theory are the pamphlet ad with June 21 release date, as well as the fact he never died even a single time.

They always said there would be continuing updates. If anything is broken it will be fixed. They could add stuff too. I mean the game is kind of Minecraft-like.

This is a real game now, not some fantasy wish list thing, flaws and all. That Rock, Paper, Shotgun article was spot on, lol.

And infinite fuel and tool that gets worse as you level it up. All seems weird.

This keeps getting crazier and crazier. Was the guy playing the leaked version the same one who bought the game for 2 grand on ebay?

He paid 2 grand? God damn. Lol imagine some guy coded and made a game similar to NMS based off of trailers. That's why every planet have the same cloud formation.

In denial mod breakdown?

"trophies dont appear", well no shit, i get most games prior to release and trophies never appear before release.

"How is he receiving messages from other players on psn playing an unreleased game, which probably wouldn't work as there would probably be a block on playing it." hahahhaa, wtf is wrong with this guy.

"Finger prints on disc suggest altered disk" THIS IS PURE GOLD

I just imagine Sean Murray sitting in his leather chair only in bathrobe, holding a glass of Whisky and just laughing like a madman reading the subreddit.

I'm very septics of this for real. Because if that was true. AND we all start on a different planet, it would be just impossible to see a other "discover planet" ( if we all start from the same, it might be different)

I think, to make the game more fun/appealing, they "load up" a discovered planet within reach of where you are. So you have a chance to see it in the distance and read : Planet 1337 420Buzzkill

I never saw the devs said : The universe is the same for everyone.

They might said it ( i would like a source to see him talk about it ), but i'm not sure about it due to the procedural formula. It just could be marketing trick.

But i saw them only talking about the "seed" and randomness. Maybe the 1st galaxy Euclid is the same "seed" for everyone. But your next seed for the next galaxy might be randomly generated.

This is one of the reason i really need to see the future leak streamers. The devs just talked too much and show little. So people just have to believe or not the words of Sean lol.

I know absolutely nothing about this game. Never even watched a video.

...and I am getting about 60 dollars worth of entertainment out of this thread alone, so maybe I'll have to buy it and try it out.

Why though? He clocked it in just under the time that Hello threw out for a quick play through.

The not dying is weird, but again, it's possibly a balancing issue or that the next NG+ galaxy is correspondingly harder. Either way it's either patchable or fine. So why the backlash?

I think it's more to do with the game now being real, and therefore no longer under the personal control of somebody's imagination. Some kind of cognitive dissonance thing, like the difference between fantasizing about being with someone, versus actually getting to know them as a human being. It's why some people stay single, fantasy is so much easier than reality. There's definitely some psychology at work here.
