For the already initiated, the only thing FF7 did that was really new was the use of CG.

How many arguments could easily be settled if the participants would simply define their terms eh? While you were attempting to show that nothing is wrong with you because you dont like FFVII, the same could be said about the abundance of people who do like the gameShockingAlberto said:
I watched someone play it. I am pretty sure I fell asleep. I enjoyed Ocarina of time a hell of a lot more. Turn based gameplay seems so boring compared with fights in OOT like Bongo bongo and Twinrova sisters. It still does really. I cant understand the appeal of turnbased when action games are so much more involving to play. I dontl ike to have my fights planned out. I want to go in there fighting, and if I **** up, I die. So yes, there are lots like me who preferred not to jump on the FF7 bandwagon. I liked the story and the characters, but the game can go suck goats for all I care. Hell I even draw the hcaracters sometime, but Ill never bother with the game. The movie was fun though.

in all serious though, FF8 is really the unsung gem of the serious imo. it wasnt the best FF game by any means and had its flaws, but if they're going to branch out past FFs into their own franchise FF8's world has the most untapped potential. you could do a lot with the whole seed/witch conflict. plus it seemed like the FF were a lot plot elements sort of drifted off instead of coming to a resolute end. which ended up being a disturbing trend in the series but what can you do

Ocarina of Time IMO isn't one of the better examples of more action oriented games though, as many of the boss fights involve repetition over skill.
