A professor of mine always said it's best to refer to these kind of bombings with "Jihadi terrorists" instead of "Islamist terrorists", because that way you prevent putting the blame on the people who're most likely the victim of these attacks. I agree.neorej said:that's the clearest form of propaganda I've ever seen. Even communist Russia ain't got shit on that!

It's always funny to see how extremists are so ignorant of their own religions, or of much common sense (ban the only word for god, yay! :| ).Darackutny said:=/
Mohammed didn't ban non-Muslims from saying "Allah".
But the Malaysian government says "Allah" is exclusive to Islam and its use by others would mislead Muslims and tempt them to convert to Christianity.

Edit: scratch that, they aren't ignorant, they're just corrupt people spreading lies to corrupt the other members of their faith, especially those that are less active and therefore more ignorant to what is truly their religion or not, to achieve their own means. They just want to stir up shit so they can get an excuse for everyone to go to war, and get the non-extremists to ally with them (Venezuela's dictator's tactic. Keep reminding the people of the impending US invasion to rile them up and keep em in control!).

mckmas8808 said:Exactly! My god people grow up. The actually word "Allah" isn't even the name of your god.
Doesn't just mean one god?

I predict 'anti-islamic extremist' will be a buzzword in five years and the bombs will be flying in both directions. I'm moving to a little atheist village at the top of a mountain.

Rednecks of the Muslim world. Hopefully people have finally realized this.

Now that I think about it Malaysia is pretty fucked up. Malays get so many advantages from the government while the Chinese get screwed over, i'm glad my parents left there.

No issue at all with non-Muslims using the word "Allah", which is literally Arabic for God anyway. It certainly is not un-Islamic in any way shape or form. Just a few rotten Apples (probably poor ignorant folk) spoiling it for the masses again. You know, as occurs in all religions, groups and non groups alike.

-Most Muslims/organizations in the country thought the ruling was cool
-few bandits on motorcycles fire bomb 3 Churches in the Capital, after the ruling
Its fucked up reaction to the ruling by a fucked up few, its nothing like the "Cartoon reaction".
It's a reference to a Malaysian tourist commercial that has shattered (at least) European eardrums for quite some time now. The slogan is Malaysia Truly Asia, and truth be said that jingle popped into my head the first time I read the thread title and every time Malaysia was mentioned.~Devil Trigger~ said:pretty unfair reaction from GAF(or joke?)...
This is a really good point. Why be so protective of a mere word? The god is a not a word. It is idolatry.BocoDragon said:Guess what: This is idolatry! These Muslims fail at their religion!

There is no compulsion in relgion.Yamauchi said:This is funny, actually, because Malaysians like to present themselves as being superior to Indonesians simply because their economy is more developed. The reality is quite different, however.
You cannot say that prohibiting Christians from using "Allah" is a minority opinion in the country, though the violence is clearly only supported by a small minority. The elected government of Malaysia made it illegal for Christians to use the word "Allah." It was a court decision that overruled the unconstitutional law, and the government is appealing this ruling. The Malaysian government has also banned Bibles from Indonesia because they use the word "Allah" for God.
In Malaysia, it is also illegal for a Muslim to change his/her religion. If you are born a Muslim, you will be subject to shariah law for the rest of your life, regardless of your actual faith (or lack of faith), which means that you are forbidden to change your religion. As you might suspect, however, non-Muslims are allowed to convert to Islam.
