Non-USians rethinking their Wii U preorder?

No, really hoping the crashes and similar stuff gets ironed out by the time it gets out in Europe though.

Really looking forward to zombie and cod.

I'm cancelling my pre-order. I've never been so uninterested in a new launch before. But I would still get it, if it wasn't for that I need to buy furniture for my new condo.

I'll get one later, the gadget freak in me needs one. :)

The controller battery life worries me. And that nintendo id is console locked for the moment. So I'm out.

Having said that I didn't actually pre-order, I was just thinking about getting it this year.

and has accounts you can easily move to another system like every other video game company, I will consider buying it.

You'll probably won't buy one then.

I'm still waiting for people to stop bickering about Ram and speculating about PS4/720 future magical powers and actually play games on the system to be sure what launch games I will get besides NSMBU ( probably tekken if it's launch day in Europe and some e-shop games) The shoddy ports are not a surprise, and are from franchises I don't buy on PS3 or Xbox anyway (I hate Darksiders and Batman art direction, and didn't like Mass effect )

I watched the giant bomb stream with all their problems, but also some others streams where people didn't encounter so many online errors and bugs and had fun playing NSMBU and Nintendoland. Reading in some threads that people didn't open their brand new Wii U box based solely on the giant bomb stream and Gaf meltdowns is baffling... What I saw of miiverse and the OS in last night streams looks fun now that the network is more stable, and really I hope there won't be mass hardware defects, my main concern being the lock-downs and in-game freezes.

I've been on the fence since the moment I pre-ordered. The response on here hasn't instilled me with confidence. Not to mention the delays to Pikmin 3 and Rayman Legends and the lackluster third party ports.

However, I was never buying a Wii U to play 3rd party games. And ultimately I know it'll be the home to some incredible Nintendo games I won't be able to get anywhere else, and then there's Bayonetta 2. I just wish there was more to play on it before Christmas here in the UK. We don't even get Scribblenauts :(

As a first party and third-party exclusive machine, there are inevitably going to be long periods where it doesn't get touched. But I'm ok with that. When I'm playing Zelda, a mainline Mario game, Metroid etc, I'll know it was all worth it.

No.

The problems aren't bigger than expected to me. I really doesn't sound that bad at all.
Nothing like the 360s RROD or the multitude of dead pixels in the first PSPs.

The only things that changed for me after the US launch:
- I'm now really looking forward to "Nintendo Land".
- After reading many reviews, I probably won't buy "ZombiU".

Also, you can't beat a Premium Pack for ÂŁ199!

Have I told you lately that I love you, amazon.co.uk?

Really don't understand why these problems are causing such a fuss, if I'm honest.
It's been out 3 days.

Fair enough if you only pre-ordered it because you expected some graphics powerhouse (but seriously, where have you been for the last 2 years) but the rest of the stuff...... meh.

Can't. Shibata has already booked his flight out to hand deliver my system to me so I can't exactly phone him up and say I've changed my mind. It would break his heart.

First Nintendo console I won't own (NES->Wii), I already decided against getting a Wii U so this didnt influence my decision but I feel a little vindicated I guess.

Also USians? :\

I've seen a few Europeans saying they are canceling their preorder for Wii U due to various issues and info that has come to light over the past couple days.. Is all the info having anyone rethinking their purchase? If so, what are your biggest concerns/problems?

I have a few concerns, but they aren't putting me off buying one on the 30th.

the wifi issue is worrying, especially because of there being no ethernet socket. the crashing issue is worrying, I'm hopeful that can be ironed out through patches / firmware updates. the biggest worry I have is the gamepad rattling. a silly worry, I know, but I hate it when my gadgets rattle. it unnerves me.

Nope. Most of what I'm reading are absurd overreactions and expected problems. Not that I'm saying that everything is perfect or that there aren't things to be solved, but not only is this always the case, I don't see anything that affects me here.

I agree

No I never had any problem with any Nintendo hardware ever. I trust my own experience more than a few whiners on this forum. Of course the online is not going to work properly Day 1. Is anyone complaining about 3DS hardware or a supposed "slow" OS now? No.

I'm not rethinking it because I wasn't planning to buy it immediately. The Wii U has never struck me as a well planned console with an identity. It has seemed for a while that Nintendo decided to ignore the lessons learned from the Wii, and things have not gotten better until and beyond the launch.

I was planning on just buying one shortly after launch if they were available but have decided to wait til next year when the library is bigger.
Honestly,I think this is the worst launch lineup I've even seen. At least 3DS had Shadow Wars.

I canceled my pre-order before launch, but depending on how that would turn out I might have picked up one anyway. Now not so much. I'll wait for the other systems instead.

I'm gonna pick one up so hard.

I think this goes to show how much better it is to do a launch where you launch with five units (like the Wii), and not with global availability like with this console. When launching with 5 consoles, some people will be complaining, but the rest of the world will be so envious that they won't even register it.

no and I don't really see a reason to cancel it. All the Problems hat matter to me (slow OS) should be ixed not too far away

Not at all. I'm still hyped and understand most of these problems can be fixed in future updates/patches.

I have a Monster Hunter tri-G HD Premuim Set preordered with NintendoLand and ZombiU and I have no intention of cancelling anything!!

Still day 1 for me. Still have 2 pre-orders up, one for the Deluxe edition and another for the ZombiU deluxe edition.

As I bought a 2TB HDD and decided to go all digital this time around, I'll probably cancel my ZombiU pre-order close to launch.

Wii U is pretty awesome, provided you know what you're getting into.

If you go in aware of what software is available, what you want to actually play, and with the knowledge that this is the launch of a new platform that will undoubtedly improve over time, it can be pretty awesome. I'm having an absolute blast. Miiverse is incredible, and playing on the pad with certain games (NSMBU, Nanoassualt, etc.) is a LOT more fun than I had initially imagined.

The launch hasn't been perfect. That's for damn well sure. But i'm still having a helluva time. I haven't had this much fun with a console since...man, I don't know when.

RAM IS 43% SLOW CANCELLING PRE ORDER THIS FUN IS NOT AS GOOD AS I DEMANDED

I remember a loooong time ago you said "WOW" about some behind closed doors Wii U stuff you saw. Is that still in development? Is it something already released? Any info now the thing's finally out?

I'm cancelling. I still very much want to play ZombiU at some point, but I won't buy a WiiU until Nintendo changes the account system. I was planning on going all digital, mostly to avoid having a million useless plastic covers. No way I'm doing that if my purchases are going to be tied to the console. Slow OS is also a real turn-off.

Having our first kid in December really didn't make this choice any harder either. Probably wouldn't get to use the thing anyway.

No.

I'm italian, so I'm pretty sure I can go on some megastore the day before the launch and buy even a ZombiU set.

Heck, with the 3DS worked!

While I mostly agree that the problems can be solved, this (capitalisation not mine):

"NINTENDO SUPPORT *CANT* SWITCH NNIDS TO A NEW CONSOLE! PURCHASES ARE LOCKED FOREVER TO CONSOLE NO MIGRATION POSSIBLE"

is concerning.

Of course I'm not cancelling my pre-order. Save for about ÂŁ10, I've paid the whole thing off, and I'm very excited for it.

was a bit wobbly on Sunday, but things seem to have settled down, and impressions of NSMBU, Nintendoland and ZombiU seem positive, so I'm still in

Also, you can't beat a Premium Pack for ÂŁ199!

How to get it for that price?

OT: I was not planning on preordering it either way. Will buy it January or February. But the doom and gloom from the ehm..USians?!....hasnt changed my mind about the WiiU. I want it for Nintendo and Mistwalker games anyway. And I am very pleasantly surprised by the Miiverse design and the way the controller is implemented.

Slow UI and lock ups will most likely get fixed before the EU launch.

wait.. legends is no launch title in eu?

No, can't wait.

The WiiU launch parties thread - you know the one where people talk about the fun they're having actually playing games on the system instead of worrying about a bunch of numbers -has got me even more hyped.

No, not at all. Will download the patch first and won't bother with the other networking stuff for a few weeks.

Nintendo Land and NSMBU gotta be my priority anyway.

Definitely not rethinking mine.

Deluxe model along with ZombiU will be mine on the 30th.

With Christmas just around the corner, I'll be asking most people for vouchers to get Blops2, NSMBU and possibly Scribblenauts.
