Non-USians rethinking their Wii U preorder?

The 360 launched with games that had horrid graphics that were arguably no better than the Xbox...look where it is today.

What nonsense. I upgraded from Xbox to Xbox 360 and was blown away by the upgrade. Firstly there was the significant increase in resolution, but also games like Kameo just looked incredible - and that was a last-minute port. Not to mention we'd already seen footage of games like Lost Planet, Dead Rising and Gears of War. I'm not saying there isn't room for improvement in Wii U, clearly there will be. But anyone expecting it to end up looking much better than 360 or PS3 will be sorely disappointed.

I still think it's an easy decision though. Do you love Nintendo games and can't live without them? Get a Wii U. What about the 3rd party exclusives like Bayonetta 2, Rayman Legends and Lego City Undercover? Get a Wii U. Otherwise, stick with your 360/PS3 and/or wait for next-gen. Power doesn't really come in to it.

Will they not? I hadn't heard any updates other than early next year.

Not listed for launch window in EU, no. Which leaves Rayman and Lego City as the exclusive lineup in that time frame over here. If I didn't expect a good couple of hundred hours from Monster Hunter, I probably wouldn't miss anything on this console until like... next summer?

Well if anything for me the wait until next week got even more unbearable after reading everything on GAF the past days and I'm actually more secure than ever about buying a Wii U! :D

Sure it has a few problems like accounts tied to hardware and the slow OS but from a personal point of view these are non-issues to me really. So far none of my consoles or handhelds ever broke starting from the SNES and Gameboy and I grew up with a 450mhz PC all the way till 2008 so I'm tolerant to slow things aswell :P

I've seen a few Europeans saying they are canceling their preorder for Wii U due to various issues and info that has come to light over the past couple days.. Is all the info having anyone rethinking their purchase? If so, what are your biggest concerns/problems?

Nope.

Nothing I've see is stuff that won't get fixed or will ever be an issue for me.

I friend of mine is on the fence, he has it preordered but is thinking about cancelling. Will probably get it anyway and if he doesn't like it sell it on ebay or something.

I'll probably buy it later, but I canceled my preorder. ZombiU was the only game I was interested in, but it doesn't seem to be what I thought it would be.

And since the system itself is disappointing for me, I won't buy it just because it's new.

I'm curious, what did you think it would be? It seems to be exactly the game they've been been showing since day one while pulling off what they were going for quite well. In my opinion, if you've followed coverage of the game, you should have know what it is.

What! No Pikmin and Wonderful 101 in launch window? I must have totally missed that news and it sucks! Mannn... well, at least we get Rayman Legends.

I never had a preorder but I'm certainly abandoning the idea of buying it at any point in the future. The only one I trust to deliver a good overall experience is Microsoft.

Went in to the store and cancelled my pre order today. Was going to be an early adopter and was amped for it until all the negative impressions came in. After watching the kotaku video where it took 20 seconds for just the settings menu to appear I think I'll wait until it all gets ironed out.

Got some play station store points and a new dual shock controller instead.

Point is it shouldn't have even been like that in the first place. Hypothetical and very unlikely scenario but what if you get a Wii U, download some eShop content and after a few days it breaks? Return it to the shop for an exchange, simple enough - but currently, as far as I understand it, your ID is unusable and your games are gone. How that was even considered by Nintendo to be an acceptable policy to begin with I don't know.

Well, given that finding one that you can do an exchange for during week 1 of launch is slim to nil, bordering very closely to nil... you'd send it for repair as that was the only option, and they'd swap them there.

This is launch, I expect things to be locked down like this for reasons that aren't great, but can be understood as such:

1) Reduction of exchanges in favor of sending units for repair, ensuring that every new unit ends up in the hands of a new user

2) Reduction of problems caused from CS improperly switching authorizations on NNIDs until such a time after launch when they are fully trained and there are likely to be fewer requests

Both of those things are equally bad for consumers in their own right, so I'm looking at it as a way of Nintendo mitigating these problems until after launch.

Yeah, it sucks, but it's not like we're stuck in this situation permanently.

I just got this mail:

Nintendo Wii U Premium Pack (schwarz)

Nintendo Wii U Premium Pack (schwarz)

In short and because most of you don't understand German: The amount of Wii U is too low to satisfy the preorder in Switzerland, therefore the store sell some consoles which were meant for the Italian market to us.
And it seems they won't get new Wii Us (in german) before mid-December, but I think some won't see the console this year when they didn't pre-order very early (I did two months ago!).

Those who consider to cancel their pre-order: Do it now! Do the cancelling, hurry up! Let us get our pre-order!! >:(

A lot of BS Nintendo-isms with the Wii U but I want dat new console day 1 with Zombi U :-) I pretty much skipped Wii completely (only tried two games) and there's a few must-have Wii games I kinda regret I never had a Wii for. I won't make the same mistake twice. Happy even if I only play Nintendo games and a few 3rd party exclusives that are sure to surface :-)

No, my son and girlfriend wil love nsmbu (and so will i) but i do think they're (nintendo) doing it wrong.
I think they are cheap greedy arrogant bastards. Who happen to make great games.....
