North American Nintendo Switch Lineup

I'm sure they have a lot planned. I just wonder how long it's going to take to get to the next big first party game for the console and if there's enough 3rd party support or even smaller first party support to fill in while we wait for the game. I hope people don't have to wait months for the next exclusive. That's why this system seems like it's possibly going to be worth buying in the future rather that at launch or even this year.

After Zelda? Splatoon 2 is likely the next big one that we know about. Zelda is March and Splatoon is likely June. There are likely going to be April and May games though they haven't announced yet so we have to wait and see. Also when does MK8D get released?

this time around they couldn't even get third parties to port their 1 year old games.

The distance between today and the Switch launch is shorter than the distance of the launch to E3. Give it time.

Why is everyone acting like there won't be any more games this entire year

Mario Kart is April 28th.

i can't believe 1.2 switch isn't a pack in. would be a perfect way to show off the system but who's going to pay $50 for that

Seems standard for a Nintendo console launch. One big hitter and not much else, the question is how quickly the other Nintendo games start coming. They can't afford another Wii U situation where we are waiting a year for new games.

Given the lack of 3rd parties at launch and that fact that Arms, a title that plays to the Switch's gimmick is not ready for launch, I am expecting exactly another Wii U situation.

At least we are getting Kart and a new Mario game in the first year, although I wonder if enough has been added to Kart to justify buying it again.

A disaster of a launch lineup

Even moreso baffling if you think about how anemic the WiiU schedule has been for an extended period of time... what were all of devs working on if not content for Switch launch?

I have a feeling they rushed it out to launch so they can sell their 2million units to retailers and pad their financial stats for the fiscal year.

No Skyrim at launch either?

Why are they releasing this thing in March 3rd? Why not wait until later?

By time it release when most of it games come out, it will have to go head to head with other consoles holiday season sales and the long awaited Scorpio.

Zelda:BotW, Splatoon 2, and Super Mario Odyssey in the first year should be a bit better than the NSMBU, Pikmin 3, and Super Mario 3D World for the first year of Wii U.

But it seems to have even fewer smaller games to fill out the gaps than the Wii U had, like Wonderful 101, ZombiU, and LEGO City Undercover, instead relying on Wii U ports to fill out the library. Should be good for people that never owned a Wii U at least.

Hopefully. It seemed like the Wii U would go months without the next exclusive. Not that I expect an exclusive every month, but the other consoles have 3rd party support in between. I'm definitely waiting to see what they offer.

I see that Nintendo's anemic software supply strategy that worked out so well for previous consoles is being continued.

Ehh not too bad for me. Essentially for spring I will get:

Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
1 2 Switch
Bomberman
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
ARMS
Sonic Mania

Hopefully 1 2 Switch is good when drunk and Arms has button support.

This may legit be the worst launch lineup I've ever seen personally, outside of Zelda there is nothing. Not even old third party games outside of Rayman or sports games. They should wait to launch with more software.

Remember when we thought Nintendo unifying their handheld and console would result in less software droughts?

Ha.

Honestly, I was a Switch optimist but this is just a disaster. Coming off the Wii U they needed to hit the ground running. They hit the ground, but I don't think the parachute opened.

I generally don't buy a ton of games after I just plop a ton of cash on a new system so this is fine with me <_<

One major game plus a few C-grade titles is how I always spend my launch months. Well I guess not 3DS, but to be fair I bought my 3DS for the Mega Man Legends 3 demo (oops) and promise of Bomberman 3D (oops). So Switch, Zelda is good meat for me and then I'll be happy with Puyo / Bomberman to tie me over until MK8 / Splatoon time

I'm wondering this myself.

Not only had they diverted their resources from the Wii U years ago but 3DS development has also been winding down for some time now.

All this talk about a unified console drawing its resources from Nintendo's entire development community, and what we get is this?

I'd love to know what happened to having a higher rate of software output due to a unified platform because this is just ridiculous and makes no sense. I can get Zelda on WiiU so there is no point in getting one at launch for me. Ah well, a lot of games coming out elsewhere in the next few months to keep me busy anyway.

If you haven't played Disgaea 5 and don't own a PS4 that's pretty good. Solid tactical RPG but really weird. It still fetches a high price new so I am guessing it's going to be $50 - $60. This is NeoGAF though so everyone reading this is probably already aware of that game, but hey, you never know.

And I have to believe there will be some indie games for download that just haven't been announced yet. Some longtime Steam and PS4 staples by this point. I will be surprised if Nintendo didn't manage to get at least a few popular ones on the platform by launch (oh who am I kidding, they probably didn't).

Man. This doesn't look good if they're hoping to attract the core audience back. I really thought they'd have more solid exclusives.

Where the fuck is the other 2/3 of the lineup? This is beyond pathetic, why is this even coming out now? Wasnt there supposed to be benefits for having a unified console?

Godlike, but it's essentially a Wii U port

1, 2, Switch $49.99

I Am Setsuna
Old-ass game

Has Been Heroes
Seems ok, but also coming to other consoles

Just Dance 2017
Uh...

Snipperclips - Cut it out, together! $19.99

Super Bomberman R
Looks like every other Bomberman game

$300 please.

Even though they announced a myriad of OLD ASS GAMES, they cannot get them to pad out that launch. Skyrim is fall? That will be a SIX YEAR OLD GAME when it launches. It would have been somewhat alluring as "Skyrim on the Go" when the Switch's functions still have novelty, but pushing it to holiday is just asking it to die. Yes, 2017 does have a handful more titles that seem genuinely worthwhile, but unless you are a hardcore Nintendo nerd and/or need to play Zelda immediately, there is no reason to get this at launch.
