North Korea suffering major Internet outages

The elites in NK need to suffer the loss of their foreign bank accounts. That's the only kind of pain they will feel.

Outside of knowing that that's Shadow the Hedgehog and Obama, I totally do not understand this meme/image at all. Yet it cracks me up every time I see it. I really don't know why.

I think it's from a famously bad fan fiction about Obama and the Chaos Emeralds

Reportedly, all requests are being rerouted to an MKV version of The Interview.

They should hack all of the cable/tv connections there to show The Interview on a loop.

I love both of these ideas, I am serious, this will be the ultimate symbolic payback to all this chaos! All of their State propaganda TV showing The Interview dubbed or subtitles in Korean 24/7... and there's no way for them to stop it, unless they throw their TVs and monitors out the window. I 100% support this.

America has done that before, shutting down some slush funds in Macau, and the result was DRPK racing back to the negotiation table.

NK right now

LMFAO!!!

NK's Internet is more like an intranet isn't it? Mostly just state provided propaganda. I think know only high level officials can access the outside world.

I think they'd fold under the crisis of leadership losing all of their play money would trigger. Kim Jong Un would hide under his bed and suck his thumb or something.

Well there's only like fifty guys on NK internet anyway, so whatever server they're using shouldn't be hard to DDoS.

Their citizens will never be aware of that, unless the North Korean government decides to let them be. They only have access to propaganda TV, no internet for them.

I don't know why, but when I read this post, the first thing I thought of was Prof Layton and The Great Leader. A game set in NK where Prof Layton uncovers the secrets behind NK and lifts the veil once and for all.

Here's a more extensive piece from re/code.

“They’re pretty stable networks normally,” Madory said. “In the last 24 hours or so, the networks in North Korea are under some kind of duress, but I can’t tell you exactly what’s causing it.” Possible reasons include an attack by another nation or third-party hackers, he said, but also things like power outages and network maintenance. “There’s no way to confirm that these outages are the result of an attack, but given the timing, it’s something we have to consider,” he said.

It's not the US...it's The Protectors. 1000 of the world's most talented men and women with the solemn duty of protecting the Internet. While they can't publicly take credit, you can bet they're humming their theme song in basements and garages all over the world.
