Trump ignored a question about NK, via CNN. Yep, he doesn't give a shit because they don't have oil. He probably won't care unless they troll him on Twitter.
 
Let's not pretend that NK isn't tightly leashed by China, and that the second they have the poorly thought out notion to cause a real problem that China won't yank that leash hard.

He's also said in the past that NK is China's responsibility. I kinda have to agree unfortunately.

Will be interesting to see what type of missile this was, not likely to be ready to test an ICBM. Might loft a medium range missile to test warhead reentry vehicle.

Been saying it for years. Either you nip it in the bud now or you face off against an ICBM capable North Korea. People keep saying they won't ever miniaturize a warhead, or have ICBM capability but every launch and failure, they have shown rapid improvement. The two most dangerous flashpoints for ACTUAL nuclear weapons use are North Korea and a destabilized Pakistan that would fall to insurgent control of large parts of the territory.

If they want food aid, fuck them. That is the one thing that has always kept them going. The food does not go to the civilians, it feeds the soldiers first and keeps them from revolting. People say NK cannot fall as it will create the largest humanitarian crisis in the world, which is true, but this ACTUAL fascist and Nazi like family Il-Sung regime needs to go. Defections have never been higher, they are on the verge of collapse as it is.

If only Trump didn't antagonize China they would realize they need to stop NK as well. Otherwise an increasingly militaristic Japan, THAAD missile defense and radars near SK, and severl military bases in the South China Sea are all reality as well as an NK ICBM or ballistic missile that can strike Hawaii and maybe one day the west coast including LA.

God I wish someone smarter than Trump was President right now. Mattis is there, but the buck stops with this orange turd.

This'll probably be in the "stern warning" realm, although it probably just depends who of his aides or Secretaries he talked to last
 
Abe condemns this test and Trump assured him that US will always help and stands behind Japan. Japan and USA will keep working together.

Trump echoed Abe's statement about countries being close allies.

Almost expected something like "North Korea may of fired a test missile.. it could of been North Korea, but it could of maybe even been China."
 
So no mention of South Korea at all and that was his complete statement!? I don't expect much of anything from him but damn!
 
Just heard about the press conference, Trump is a moron. South Korea is going to be freaking out he didn't mention them, and North Korea didn't even get a stern warning like I expected.

STRATCOM said it was an IRBM.
 
China has a defense treaty that guarantees they will protect NK if it is attacked - but will not help if NK launches an unprovoked attack.

If china wants to build bloc of allies they can't tear up treaties because shit is too hard. They also can't have North Korea turn into Syria and drench China with refugees.

So I think if Trump decides to take something personally - like take something as an attack on his ego - then China will be cornered by its treaty and the desire not to have north korea fall to pieces under bombing. Then it gets really messy really quickly.
 
Am I wrong in thinking this tepid response could lead to NK taking more aggressive actions in the future? Something along the lines of the shelling of Yeonpyeong or the sinking of the Cheonan?
