November Nintendo Direct Speculation and Discussion

NBPE6.jpg

New NOE Site design:
-Big Log-In button now
- DS not anymore in the header-section/ just a category now
- tile design
- Social Networks and eShop buttons much more prominent
- strong WiiU focus

Since on Nintendo's european website there's a "Nintendo direct preview" section, can we assume now as a fact a Nintendo direct is going to take place soonish?

Navigate to the Wii U section of the site from the top of the page, and it's a link at the bottom-left which takes you to the Nintendo Direct UK website.

Which doesn't tell us anything we didn't already know (that there will be a ND before launch), but eh.

Edit: To clarify, the presence of the link doesn't tell us anything we didn't already know. And if you go to the ND UK website it automatically takes you to the last released ND, which in this case is the 3DS one they did not so long ago.

It's coming, I can feel it!
And the website is better that way too.

I asked because I thought that of a Nintendo direct before launch was just a GAF speculation until made official by Nintendo, but I haven't been up to date with this thread for some time, so I may have missed latest rumours.

Satoru Iwata said:
"Miiverse" is a new network service which connects those who play games, and we plan to start it at the same time as the launch of the Wii U system. As it would take me a long time to elaborate on "Miiverse" here, we are currently preparing a Nintendo Direct video to explain about it in detail before the launch of Wii U.

On the Wii U page.

Iwata said two weeks ago that they were preparing a Nintendo Direct about Miiverse and stuff.

the only question now is 'when?' :)

edit: beaten by cheese :p

So assuming they'll try to avoid colliding head-on with the US election buzz, I guess nov 8th does look very realistic.

Believe..

seems like Mass Effect 3 Special Edition just got back to launch day 18th could have sworn it was delayed

I better have a Nintendo Direct countdown thread tonight

that's just a general button for all Nintendo Directs.

but we know for a fact a new ND is coming soon regardless. investor Q&A confirmed they're working on a Miiverse ND as expected.

Good point, for a couple days at the very least US elections will be in the spotlight, so next weekend
would make a sensible choice wihat with lots of people staying at home.

If Nintendo announces the next Direct for Thursday (japan Time). It should be announced within the next 10-12 hours.

ffs a few weeks since the official launch and miiverse is protected from the nintendo ninjas so tight!
i know that iwata said that we will have a nintendo direct about miiverse, but do we have a confirmation that we will see it prior to launch??
i know its crazy but im getting a little worried..!

I've never been so conflicted about a game purchase as I am about Mass Effect 3. My dislike for EA has never been higher. However I want to play the game and it's mulitplayer. That the other systems are getting a trilogy for the same price is a huge turn off but at the same time i see the justification for the full price for ME3 on the Wii U considering the work Straight Right and the Bioware team working with them have put into porting the game. Unlike Fifa and Madden it's not missing anything but actually has added content and features. It's up in the air if it will even get the very latest DLC though. I'm not even really against the motion comic which is what 30 minutes total and one can likely give a few dollars toward that if it was another product.

thank you for the detail cheesemeister!
I predict that we will se the miiverse direct on the 12/11!
source(my a..!)
God im desperate for some nintendo wiiu news... :/

And now the big question: the launch in which territory?

I hear the Antarctic launch will be during the Antarctic mid-summer.

seeing the quote form iwata, makes me wonder even more what the hell is miiverse...
should lower my expectations...but god ...the hype-o-meter is ..filling....!

I am conflicted about any EA purchase but I decided not to punish the developer. Not that I am fine with what EA has done to this release but I want to try this game and I am willing to pay the full price. I don't mind the OMEGA DLC being later since I will have a backlog of games for Wii U launch. And I don't normally rush through RPGs. The latest details Bioware posted today seems to be only missing the latest upcoming DLC. I'll just get this game and need for speed and swallow the bitter taste of EA's slime.

My prediction is that even if a Nintendo direct does pop up in coming days that it will be fairly underwhelming. My guess is that the jarring lack of info about the online structure and functionality of the Wii U is a direct reflection of its capabilities in this respect. I love me some Nintendo but I can't help but feel that anyone who is expecting any sort of great expansion of Nintendo's online ambitions will be sorely disappointed.

While there are probably those who expect the world when it comes to online, I think most of us are prepared for just the basics. More or less we just want to know ANYTHING about it, perhaps a short walkthrough with descriptions about the basic functionality.

Nintendo is so terrible at communicating this sort of info, always has been. They were tremendously lucky this past cycle to have the mainstream media on board as I don't think that Nintendo could have successfully communicated the original Wii on their own. Sometimes I feel like they are just sort of winging it with no real strategy in place.

Yeah. With the silence on the title I was hoping they'd decided to scrap it and do the trilogy instead. Anyway, I'm not buying it any more.

Less than two weeks to launch and the system software is not done. Wow. Unless I'm mistaken, some serious overtime is being worked right now.

Seems like the press got their retail Wii U units today.

Wow, still not finished? I guess we don't know what that means. Maybe what's there is complete but it's missing some feature that will be added in an update, but not necessarily make the thing look broken.

If it's not, and it's actually broken/non functional UI parts then that's just appalling. I guess we might now know why we haven't seen an OS related ND :)

Pretty much what I'm thinking. I think people are expecting Nintendo to pull an XBL out of their ass, but they've actually revealed pretty much everything about their online already.
