Now that the new Xbox will play PlayStation games.

Those third party devices are going to be some neat customizations. Water cooling, different shapes, so much potential. They can go crazy. Xbox third party controllers have such a good diversity, and you are also seeing diverse designs with handhelds.
Yeah likely though personally only interested in the first party device if done right

The future of exclusives is over as games become more and more expensive and shareholders want higher and higher net profits.

It also leads major companies to take less risks and more "remasters" and sequels until an IP is milked to death.

Even Nintendo is diversifying into movies, mobile and the theme parks.

That depends, but OEMS can make just as good hardware if not better.

Say for example:

MS first party Xbox X is Magnus AT2, with 36 GB vram, 1 TB storage, regular clocks.

Asus ROG Xbox X could be 48 GB vram, 2 TB storage, higher clocks.

If both machines run the same Magnus AT2 optimized games, the Asus one would be the better console overall. Or if an Xbox PC with Magnus AT1 chip still being able to run the AT2 optimized Console games (if it has FC), then those same games would just run to the full parameters of the fixed profile.

Basically, Magnus AT2 games would just run more smoother on more powerful hardware, and regular PC games would scale accordingly to hardware.

For all the love I have for Playstation fanboys, I sure hope not.

A lot of people are intimidated by having to adjust their own settings for a game which is a barrier for them to even consider PC. There are people that play on PC that don't even know what they're doing in a game settings menu let alone things like NVCP or AMD Adrenalin. They don't have the drive/competence to learn neither. Even for the current Full Screen Experience you have to update ROG Armory Crate, Windows Store update, and Windows OS update separately.

Honestly, I think Microsoft on their storefront for this next Xbox will just push developers to offer up-front presets tuned to this next box, with the basic graphic/performance mode selection. That way settings adjustment won't be required unless you go outside their store. Steam Deck already does the same thing on Steam for a number of games, so they just work out of the box. Also, the next box will likely have an interface to simplify the update process as well, with a more evolved GUI by the time the thing launches.

Or they could be dumb, and do none of that 🤷‍♂️

They better. Even still the only ones they can force to do this is their developers. The best option would be a one click optimize button like what's in the Nvidia App.

Even then, I see no reason that Sony will stop putting games on PC just because Microsoft makes a PC, especially when they are not entirely adverse to their games being on Xbox.
It's not a reason for sure. They are getting a lot of sales on Steam, and I can see them putting even more games in the near future - and even making the PS console just a thing for PC, but that's kind of a stretch

Why should they?

If anything, this will enable Sony to put even more games on PC with a lot more comfort. With Xbox consoles gone, PlayStation becomes the only console option for high-end gaming. If someone wants to play current console games, they will have to buy a PlayStation - no other option.

This minimizes the risks PlayStation faces, which will allow them to be more comfortable with the potential downside of releasing their games on PC.

Do you think Sony will scale back on releasing first party games on pc?
Out of the blue - pun intended - I surprisingly got a survey request from PlayStation the other day, clearly surprised by all the sequel games they expected me to buy like Yotei, Rebirth, DS2, etc based on completion of the originals and I did give them relevant feedback about PC Ports.

I genuinely think we are at a stage where they are losing 10x the amount from players skipping day one for timed exclusives, and then skipping the game entirely after PC porting and price adjustment because the moment is gone. So possibly yes, they'll follow the money and if devaluing the PlayStation brand merely maintains the status quo by revenue then I suspect they'll scale back.

Honestly at this point Sony probably realized people won't be buying Xbox consoles if they release their games there. So they probably have nothing to lose by releasing their games there at this point.

Why does this feel like a Microsoft endorsed marketing thread to spin their narrative for their failing console business and expensive shitty handheld.

The era of exclusives are not over for those still in the console hardware business, what is this shit.

Sony will create the required delays for single player experiences, share MLB the show because they have no choice and strategically cross platform GAAS games to maximise profits.

I expect 6 to 12 month delays on PC ports at the very least, depending on the legs of a title.

Yeah I don't think there is such a thing as a 'Magnus AT2 game'. They will all be just PC games, albeit with some back and forth over storefront versions like we have currently. The Xbox won't have a big enough install base for 3rd party to do anything other than the most perfunctory optimisation to the platforms specific hardware arrangement. Now MGS might just because they are told to make it the best place to play or some such marketing fluff.

But I do agree 3rd party hardware might be very interesting assuming the idea of a PC with console UI/UX takes hold. Then you might get any number of living room boxes with different specs/IO/cooling/storage/pricing that might just make the next Xbox a bit irrelevant for newcomers. A true 'Surface' moment that would be.

If 'everything is an xbox' MS can't afford to gate features behind their specific hardware, so I'm expecting everything except maybe (and maybe not) BC to be on all the OEM's that use the same platform. Well all PC's actually other than BC, but its 'living room' gaming specifically thats my focus. Basically SFF PC's with the Xbox (or Steam/Bazzite) console experience. I'm absolutely not wedded to the brand itself for hardware. Also if MS don't subsidise the hardware (which is assumed at this point) and require some high margin then actually your best bang for buck will almost certainly be OEM. I mean they might even make it to market first!

This would only happen if the next Xbox outsold or even came close to selling as much as PS6. That won't happen, so we're good.
