Unpopular opinion time: I really like the self titled album! It has a couple of tracks I really dislike (Barricades for example) but I find the whole thing pretty crushing... in a good way.

I agree, I like Interpol self titled album, but I do think it's their weakest. Not saying its bad. The Undoing is one of my favorite songs by Interpol. This new album is great, my favorite song so far is My Desire with My Blue Supreme growing on me.

I think you should listen to Interpol again to compare it. This album isn't that great or bad, but it does feel like it's a little lost. It's kinda all over the place.

I listened to Interpol a few days ago and it has a lot more atmosphere than I remember. It's a decent follow up to Our Love To Admire after closer inspection.

It definitely embodies the Interpol sound, especially songs like "Success", "Summer Swell", "Lights", "Always Malaise (The Man I Am)", "Try It On", "All Of The Ways", and "The Undoing." The last few songs could have been pulled from OLTA.

Interpol albums can often be growers, or things I enjoy a lot on revisits. Although, I instantly fell in love with All The Rage Back Home, My Desire, Anywhere, My Blue Supreme (lots of cool things happening here), Everything Is Wrong (tremolo picking and Paul bass), and Tidal Wave.

From the lyrics, it seems more hopeful in theme. Giving things another chance.

Fuck the ancient ways.
