(NSFW) Bullet Girls new trailer

Yeah, even if they do decide on localizing something people had no hopes for, I'd still rather take one of the Oreimo PSP games, iDOLM@STER One for All (especially this one >_<) or Mahouka Out of Order.

I actually just want God Eater 2. It's one of their biggest games but unfortunately no Western release in sight :(

I never heard of this before, so I googled it.

This shit is scary.

Yup it's worse because it's actual real humans. But to be fair, those child beauty pageants get a lot of criticism too, especially after the Jonbenet murder happened.

And I wouldn't say it's pretty big here in the US. It's niche just like otaku moe shit is niche in Japan. The only time it's really talked about here is when its getting derided as the trash it is.

Did exactly the same thing. It was my Today I Learned moment.
Well, not my cup of tea. I'm gonna

I'm pretty sure Toddlers and Tiaras was massive at one point, though I'm not sure about now. Either way, it's definitely above niche status.

There's a God Eater 2? :O

Well, they did localize Burst, so if the sales weren't enough to localize the sequel, can't blame them.

I don't even have an opinion on this, honestly, don't know enough to have a fair one, but the pics are really weird. What the fuck.

Now I don't just hate children, I'm also scared of them.

Thanks internet.

I guess that's how the rest of GAF feels like when they enter threads of anime shit I like

Yeah, but I figured most people watched that in the same way people watch Duck Dynasty - because it's horrible but people can't turn away from horrible car accidents.

Also probably a good amount of people watching to make themselves feel better because they could say that they were much better parents than the ones on that show.

Since I haven't seen it put into words, I'll try in short essay form:

This looks unsettling for many because it's prurient player gratification at the "expense" of in-game characters, in terms of semiotics conveying degradation of comfort and respect. It's designed that way, and I see no reasonable way to argue otherwise, at least based on the first segment of the trailer here. The implications of character age and nubility also suggest a situation where the characters are being taken advantage of via a combination of authority and an age gap. This isn't a question of prudishness, as I see it. The concern isn't sex or sexuality. I would have the same concern if the goal and reinforced intent of a game were to take advantage of someone in those terms even outside of a lustful setting, assuming it wasn't part of a broader theme being communicated.

I'm not saying media that falls into that description should be banned; I can imagine meaningful purpose in that, and even beyond that I'd consider it wrong to restrict or censure it, but the social reaction to it in a negative light is completely rational, based in the expectation that underlying elements in our behavior should recognize humanity and reciprocal value in human life. Yes, these are fictional characters. The intent is still the focus. Fantasy, erotic or otherwise, doesn't demand degradation or the signs of taking statutory advantage of others. That can and will be part of fantasies, no doubt, but other's reaction to that particular fantasy is no more unfair than the reaction to any other behavior. It's concern at how people, when "empowered," envision their treatment of others.

TL;DR: Visibly young subjects of outward sexual gratification with semiotics suggesting discomfort or statutory advantage being taken is weird as heck to someone not taking part in it. Seeing mass-media built around rewarding and reinforcing those norms exaggerates the reaction.

I'd definitely buy it if they don't censor anything. Japanese TPS on Vita? And it has erotic content? Sounds pretty awesome to me.

I love all the fake outrage over a blowjob innuendo when everyone here wouldn't bat an eye at another violent war game.

Apples and Oranges. Usually I don't bat an eye to shit like this but if things like the fan service are the main focal point of the game instead of the gunplay--it IS a shooter--then I'm going to ridicule.

Stop getting so defensive. You can have eroge fighting games that still gives a damn about it's actual gameplay. Like DOA and Senran Kagura.

I'm currently playing Drakengard 3 at the moment. She literally captures men and creates her own harem, who she keeps in line with constant threats of murder. One of the characters is even a full masochist who shudders in delight whenever she threatens him with torture or repeated kicks to the balls.

The end result? A pretty awesome game. It's fiction.

I just see this game as a slap-dash attempt to make a pulp action comedy. It's literally like the B movies you see in the US like, "Catholic School Girl vs. Zombie Apocalypse!" It's literally girls and tanks. I don't think they put much more thought into it than that to be honest. It's a pulp B movie style game.

Try typing in Catholic School Girl online and see how many hits you get for mature related content. The west isn't any better at this.

-then I'm going to ridicule.

Stop getting so defensive.

If people want to ridicule, go for it. I can then present a counterargument. That's two comments now telling me what I'm "allowed" to post. Stop doing that guys. It's not your job.

You overlooked the part of my post where I specifically recognize the merit of these themes in fiction. You also make the mistake of thinking that I'm taking part in an East vs West discussion of cultural values. You also confuse the idea of player agency (or assumptions of player agency from the design-side) and character agency. You also...well, basically, your comment makes me think you aren't approaching this with nuance on par with what I tried to include in what I wrote. Most importantly, you seem to suggest that other media that falls into the same category of criticism existing is a counterpoint to criticism. That doesn't even have the pretense of being a counterpoint.

I saw one part of your comment I wanted to reply to - Intent. I'm not obligated to address your whole comment; it wasn't even directed at me. Sorry for trying to discuss something with you.

So many crabby people in this thread.

Yes, that's what I suggested. No one looks at movies like that with this same level of hatred. My point is that people are exaggerating their outrage because of the cultural differences between East and West. In the west, we literally do the exact same thing all the time with Catholic School Girl pulp action erotic comedy. They've been doing that since the 70s.

If the discussion is what you're looking for, I think reading what someone has to say before trying to react to it is a reasonable expectation. As we have a case now where you made an uninformed reaction to what you thought my point was, rather than actually taking a moment to read a few sentences later, I think you may be projecting a bit on whose being crabby, and I don't mean that in an insulting way. Your reactions seem more emotional and defensive to topics particular posts aren't even raising.

I read it lol. Twice actually. I even used dictionary.com to look up "prurient." You guys ... geez. So much hostility.

I find this creepy, but honestly as long as it doesn't have illegal content (ie. child porn or rape), then I don't really get why people have an issue with this kind of game existing. Let people that want this stuff buy it, and stay away from it if it's not your thing. I mean to me, this is not any different than porn. Not everyone is into the same things, and games shouldn't be exempt from having this kind of material.

When we have discussions about their age and the fetishization of younger girls I think that's a worthy discussion. But I feel like even if all the girls in this game were portrayed older some would still say it's creepy and strange. Which is a fair enough opinion to have, but I don't have an issue with sexual games. It's not for me, but that's okay.

I'm telling you to chill lol. It's not that serious.

Here's my issue with the game:

This is the first trailer for this game that actually shows what the game looks like in action. There's plenty of screens that shows what appears to be gunplay, and there're screens that show the fanservice aspect of the game.

My issue with it, ; if they debut the game in motion with arguably the least desirable aspect of the game (at least in my opinion), and show little to nothing of the actual 'gameplay', then it's going to leave a negative impact on me. Thus, the ridiculing of the game.

it's funny that now you're telling people to 'calm down' or 'stop being crabby' tho.

I'm not quite sure where you're getting this from, at this point, if this is the response you're making to so many posts no matter how measured they may be. A reasoned response isn't hostility. Claiming that you read my post twice over, even though just moments ago you overlooked one of its primary points and you clarified that you answered before reading further is an odd mix of explanations.

If you'd like to respond to the substance of what I said, I'm happy to respond. I don't think my point that there's merit to people's discomfort with what this game is presented as is irrational.

This is far too reasonable for this particular topic.

Looks great. When it was first announced some time ago I kinda assumed that it would just be another soulless moe game, but the last couple of trailers - including the one in this thread - has really caught my attention. Looks like a pretty sophisticated clothe-removing system is in use, and the character models themselves look pretty good in my opinion compared to many other games. The colorful facial expressions the girls make as you discipline them are also something that stands out to me as a positive
... are you being serious?

Coming soon from XSEED.

I DON'T SEE A RED NICKNAME YOU CAN'T TELL ME TO STOP.

See how that sounds? I was just saying we always go there in anime fanservice games threads, and asking for us not to do it agian. No need to get so defensive.

Hell, I was asking for this to be localized and would buy on a heartbeat, I just think the whole "BUT WHAT ABOUT VIOLENCE?" discussion is tired and adds nothing of value, only further derails the thread.

I prefer to just have fun with all the reactions and talk about these kinds of games with people that are interested, even from an outside perspective, like when I was talking about reasons on why I'd buy this in this very thread.

Chill out, dude.

can't wait for the DF analysis

HAHAHAHA, I just imagined that, and it would be amazing.

They don't even need to go that far for it to be fun, they can just compare PS3 iDOLM@STER vs 360 iDOLM@STER, it would already be beautiful.
