Kind of off topic, but do all US SNES models support RGB? I'm looking to replace my busted SNES soon.
I have an OG, and I believe so.

I bought X3 (and X2 and 7) for $2 each from a video store clearing out their SNES games. I gave them to a friend for Christmas. I wish I'd kept them for myself.Fuck me. Megaman X 3 is still the only X game I need to have all the X games. $60 is a deal back when it was at Gamestop compared to this shitty price now. At least I managed to buy out most of the good games from Gamestop for less than $30 when they starting getting rid of old games. Final Fantasy 3, Earthbound, Secret of Mana,Chrono Trigger, ect.
No, the amount of money I speak of would be enough to purchase rights to make the original games. Win win for all because royalties get paid to whoever owns the rights...like music and how if a radio station plays a song they pay a royalty to the proper "owner".
You guys should post your SNES/SFC collections. Might as well, can't think of any other threads where you can.

This thread is just making me sad about the current state of the 3DS VC. I just want a way to play this generation on the go, with a portable device.

Do we have some videogame collectors OT?, it could be used to upload pics of your snes carts or PS1 discs
nope been saying for a while we need one would be cool to have one so we could trade our doubles or give heads up if games others are looking for pop up on the nets also a ton of people on gaf have some sicks collections
The B/S/T thread in community is probably the closest thing to this.
Probably going to have people freak out on me, but back in 2008 I had about 40 or so snes games that I just threw in a dumpster. I had long since lost my system and just carted them around every time I moved so I decided to throw them. Trying to sell them on eBay / whatever seemed like too much work.
Looking at the prices I could have made several hundreds today. Oh well.

On the other hand, I'm also one of those horrible people who just flattens down boxes and puts big rubber bands around them and stores them in a big box in the basement. They just take up way too much space. Stick the manuals in a box in the basement too. And don't really go out of my way to get either boxes or manuals when buying games, just have the boxes and manuals from the ones I had gotten new when they came out (which cover a decent portion of them).
I do the think the bubble is going to pop though, at least for more common only cart-only stuff.
A lot of these carts have millions of copies out in the wild, and they are pretty durable. Also, more and more are being unearthed out of dusty closets and into collector rotation as time goes on.
Sorry, cut and pasted from my game list which needs work. I need a better way to list 530 games, and this isn't including XBLA/PSN/Steam and physical PC games![]()
I do appreciate the whole Complete in Box scene, but honestly I'm trying to keep some old PC boxes in pristine condition for the sake of keepsake whatevers and they're taking up half my fucking closet. Carts/DVD cases of modern games are fine, but these significantly bigger boxes and all kinds of inserts and materials that they have begin to take up an insane amount of space very quickly. I don't plan on getting many CiB games for that reason. So yeah, I agree with that, even if I appreciate the Box collecting thing as well.
I don't really think this will happen unless some major bootlegger comes along and ruins it for everyone. Lots of these games have just been thrown away. I remember when I used to read retro-gaming forums, many of the best finds were in the trash. I have no idea what GameStop and company have done with the large amounts of old games they have, but I'm guessing they cleared stock somehow. Probably crushed them all.
Video gaming still has an expanding audience, too. Lots of people joining who weren't around for the console release.

Has anyone ever been able to fully communicate the law regarding downloading roms? I've read everything from you can do it if you create the rom yourself, you can download them for 24 hours etc. I remember going to sites where you can play these games in your browser. Is that illegal?
Gamestop is preparing to resell some via powerup rewards I believe. Others through their normal website. So I guess they just have a decent amount of them still in stock.
One of the questions we had after seeing Raines reveal this initiative in a Polygon interview is where the material comes from initially. It turns out that despite clearing older games out of stores by dropping the prices, GameStop still has a lot of them kicking around. "Well, we don't have a lot of NESes or Dreamcasts," he said, referring to two hypothetical systems I brought up. "That's some pretty old stuff. But we just took Game Boy Advance out of stores recently, about a year and a half ago. Original Xbox, I think we took out of stores in 2009, as I recall. We're reducing the footprint of PlayStation 2."
Those red carts--Doom and Maximum Carnage?
Famicom carts are quite colorful

I do especially like the Salamander cart though.
