Nvidia Geforce GTX 1070 Review Thread

Titan X owners am cry.

Nah, I will have enjoyed my Titan X for 15 months by the time this is widely available. Trust me, nobody who is in the position to be dropping $1,000+ on GPUs is gonna be crying. It's all a well understood part of the cycle when you adopt PC gaming as a hobby.

I am actually very happy this can provide that kind of performance while being so much cheaper and using less electricity. Means we are making real progress. Makes me even more excited to see what Pascal Titan can do. :)

What's the min psu for this, 500w?

Truth be told I need to upgrade my whole rig but I want to see if I can get one last push out of my 3570k, Z77 3dh mobo and 550w psu!

The first Pascal Titan will probably be "Here you go, 4k/60fps in all games on a single card".

It's amazing how fast we are moving tech wise.

In 5 years, there will be an affordable solution for everyone for 4K gaming.

The FE seems a lot more quiet by default than the 1080 FE. Not too surprising given that it's the same cooler on a lower TDP card, but it's a quite significant difference.

Its more like how behind we are - node shrinks have been extremely slow due to physical limitations And exponentially increasing r&d.

Well those are very nice reviews.Im still very curious on the pricing of this card. But this looks a fantastic upgrade for people on mid/low end cards.

Titan X owners am cry.

Titan X owners have had this performance since March 2015. They ain't crying about anything.

I've had my 980 Ti since June 2015. You don't see me crying about the 1070, because I'm too busy trying to be lucky, awake and at a working computer or mobile device, to pre-order a custom 1080 the moment one becomes available. I ain't got time to bleed cry!

Does that price include sales tax? Because that equates to around $660 in Australia which seems too good to be true.
€ prices usually include tax. FE is 499€ with tax, so 425€ with tax seems realistic as a starting point for non-FE cards.
You should bet on 1:1 currency conversion for another country though :P

Getting one this summer. Looks like really, really good value!

So this is the real deal then? There was a reason the EVGA site was borked and didn't take my order on a 1080 FTW, now I can get one of these to hold me over until the real cards I wanted are available. Things happen for a reason I guess.

Yes, it looks to be a great card, but many will not be able to pull 425€ from their pocket [or more] for it.

Also, it is worth to mention that the minspec price for Oculus/Vive remains the same with the arrival of Pascal. This will most likely change only with the arrival of Polaris.

As soon as I can get one of these for under $600 AU, whether it's from a local store (unlikely) or a US import (hopefully?), I'm in.

hold on, why don't you wait for the TI?
as I do and probably a lot 980TI/TX users

Some interesting results when all reference cards are OC.

Count me in as one of those upgrading from a year-old 970! Hopefully I can sell it for €150-€200 and get the new 1070 for around another €200.

What is the difference between FE and non FE ? Is it worth the 75 more € in Europe ?

I hope we get soon some 3440x1440 benchs. It seems a better deal than the 1080 if you want to upgrade and don't have 700-800€ to throw.

Will buy one later in the summer, even though I bought a 970 with my PC very recently. I wanna play 1440p60.

FE is reference card and it costs more for no reason. Non FE should be cheaper and have better cooling but it's possible that it'll come out a week or two later.

Not really, I knew what I signed up for (it was already known at the time that the jump in GPU performance will be huge since GPUs would jump from 28nm straigth to 16nm) and I've had that performance since 2015.

The performance of 1070 makes me want to see the next performance king - Titan Pascal.

I'm looking at my 980 ti right now and I'm feeling a pang of regret....it's a rather potent pang. I feel I should mention the potency of the regret pang to better communicate my point, and that point is that I'm a goddamn moron.

Ill gobble up the 1080 ti too because learning's hard

I've decided to leave it up to fate. If I luck out and manage to snag a custom 1080 at launch, I'll make the destined upgrade. If I can't, I'll settle in for the wait for 1080 Ti.

sounds like 1070 is the card to get. Will wait for a good couple of games like I did with the 970 (Batman and Witcher 3).

Though is looking more likely I will have to upgrade my CPU first though waiting for Intel's next iteration is hard.

God dammit, I'm torn on whether to pick one of these up. I'm likely moving country in a few months and won't be taking my PC with me. It would be cool to have one of these to try out Mirrors Edge and Deus Ex though...

I feel more sorry for the folks who bought a 980 Ti this year thinking Nvidia wouldn't undercut their flagship gaming card with GP104.

I swear we were even seeing a couple "should I upgrade my 970 to a 980 Ti?" threads over the last month or two.

Will probably replace my GTX 970 with this card. Although the GTX 970 is fantastic, the 3440x1440 resolution I'm playing on is a bit high to run games on 60FPS. Still, great card.

hell yeah, i bought a 1440p60hz monitor back in september 2015 betting on this card performance (i currently have a 970 bought in november 2014), the 1070 just saved me, looking at the 1080 price i was really starting to regret my decision
