Nvidia slashes prices on GeForce GTX 780 and GTX 770 GPUs

It's a B1 revision of GK110. Not a super chip, sure, but 7bln transistors running at above 1 GHz stable.
That has barely anything to do with b1 at all. That is because of cooling. The article posted earlier acted as if this was a ghz chip. Is basicly ice's version of a superclocked or dcu model.
You can easily push 1200+ on A1. B1 might havea very slight difference but nobody on Overclock.net notices with the b1s that have been out for over a month.

This isn't Nvidias ghz edition. This is oce's version of a classified.

Scan in the uk are selling a 770 zotac for £275 which includes Batman Arkham Origins, Splinter Cell Blacklist, and Assassins Creed Blacklist.

Very good bundle that.

Amazon still hasn't dropped the price of some of the 770s. Newegg did yesterday, but then jacked the price back up to where they were originally. a-holes.

I noticed that, haha. The ASUS 770 was 339 yesterday, went up to 402.

Wow, now it's 419.

Are these guys serious, the price keeps going up.

Makes no sense. You can get 4GB 770's for that much.

Is £275 about as cheap as they're going to get for a while now?

OCUK has the Gigabyte one for £260 with the same bundle, Scan had it yesterday at that price too when I checked.

There is also the Inno3D GeForce GTX 770 iChill HerculeZ X3 Ultra at £250 but it's a large card as it's a triple slot one http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-031-IN

Reviews well though http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/inno3d_geforce_gtx_770_ichill_herculez_x3_review,1.html

Question:

I have this 560ti that I put into my new computer (I decided to hold off on a new vid card for a few months), and it barely fit onto the motherboard. Are newer cards thicker? Will I be screwed for upgrading?

I don't what the issue could be, looks like a normal GPU. Are you worried about the cooler being too close to the mobo?

Prices are in flux everywhere. Newegg raised the price of the EVGA 780 classified back to 699. Which irritates me because I wanted that card at the price of 579 which is listed on EVGAs website.

I might just buy a superclocked edition now. I don't plan on doing heavy overclocking anyway.

Yeah, I had it in my cart at $329. I guess other retailers hadn't dropped theirs yet. Oddly Newegg did drop the Asus 780.

The bottom of the card is like a micrometer away from the edge of a small heatsink on the motherboard. Hell, it's probably pressed right up against it because I couldn't even get the card all the way in... it's not flush to the motherboard at the end where you tighten the screw/clamp. I didn't think it would boot up, but it's been running fine for about a month with no issues.

Able to take a photo of it?
Hmm, lemme see if I can find my camera. Thanks btw, for helping.

Eh, here's the pic, but I couldn't get a good angle.

Now that I think about, I'm assuming the bottom of video cards are usually the same, it's the top that can stick up further? So this may not be an issue going forward (I hope).

Edit: crap, I might have it backwards, is the top of the card (fans) facing down? I forget, and am too lazy to open my case again.

I know, I initially was very confused looking at all the different EVGA 780 models. The one I listed is currently cheaper at Newegg than on the EVGA site.

That looks fine.

See mine. The card is going over the heatsink too.

unless you live in one of the rare states that amazon doesn't charge taxes for, no reason to buy there over newegg unless you live in a rare state that newegg does charge tax from :P

$35 of sales tax, fuuck.

mine arrived and i just installed them, gtx 780 windforce sli, rev 2 cards with 2 x 8 pin connectors, not clocked them yet but seeing around 50% increase from oc'd 670sli in 5760x1080 surround in far cry 3 and arkham origins

doing anything with the extra nvidia codes? :P

I wonder how long graphic cards will be in 5 years.

no idea, I'm in UK and got mine from scan for £399 each, you get one card with arkham on then another card with assasins creed and splinter cell together in one code

This is exactly the configuration I was considering. (currently on 670 sli). I see they're a bit longer too.

Ok thanks.

Anybody from the U.S. order from Amazon? Did you automatically get the bundle?

It's a shame that the pricing for the 600 cards aren't becoming attractive at all since the newer cards have established a foothold. I was thinking of possibly SLI'ing my 670's but they're still slower and more expensive than the current generation cards :S

I posted this in the Battlefield thread but might get more help here.

Can an expert help me out? I recently bought a gtx 770.

The specs are:

Performance
NVIDIA GTX 770
1536 CUDA Cores
1150 MHz Base Clock
1202 MHz Boost Clock
147.2GT/s Texture Fill Rate

Memory
4096 MB, 256 bit GDDR5
7010 MHz (effective)
224.32 GB/s Memory Bandwidth

Since Nvidia recently slashed prices I was thinking about taking advantage of EVGA's step up program. The GTX 780 I can upgrade to has these specs:

Performance
NVIDIA GTX 780
2304 CUDA Cores
863 MHz Base Clock
902 MHz Boost Clock
165.6GT/s Texture Fill Rate

Memory

3072 MB, 384 bit GDDR5
6008 MHz (effective)
288.38 GB/s Memory Bandwidth

From what I have read going from 4 gigs of video ram to 3 shouldn't be an issue as no games use it and it's mainly for higher resolutions 2560x whatever or multiple monitors which isn't a factor for me.

Though the base clock speed and boost clock is slower on the GTX 780. I have no idea if these make a difference. I assume the 780 will be faster but I'm not sure by how much. Can anyone tell me if base/boost clock matters or is it how many cores the card has? Is it worth upgrading?

There's about 15% difference in performance between the two if you're gaming at 1080p. If you're happy with your BF4 performance I'd save your money for a 20nm card.

Trust me, it has everything to do with B1.

No it doesn't :P 780s on ACX coolers are shipped at 993mhz on A1. B1 chips aren't overclocking any better the A1 chips right now on overclock.net. B1 chips help push 5-10mhz for a little less power. These aren't a ghz chip, its just a brand oced card.

if i have no interest in overclocking etc on the video card and just want a new one, which 780 would you recommend?
You can buy a base model for 499 or get a factory overclocked version which the company already overclocks for you. Evga is regarded by many as the best brand but this doesn't mean you have to only buy from their models. Many manufacturers have good designs now. I bought the evga 780 card I linked in my previous post but right now I own a 660ti windforce. Before I owned a zotac 470. This is my first evga card. We can point you to certain models if you are confused by all the different options.

When I get home I'll link to specific cards.

I'd do it. I went from an Oced 680 to 780. 30% increase. Plus nvidias step up just makes you pay the difference. Once 20mm you can sell your 780 for more then your 770 would be worth and recoup the costs.

Thanks for the replies everyone! It would basically be a free upgrade because of the price drop using the step up program. I'm going to upgrade!

Since its pretty much a free upgrade, its a no-brainer. The 780 should be faster and better in every aspect
