Whilst I'm excited, and have a Nvidia card currently, it may be more intelligent to go with an AMD card this gen given the clear driver advantages they have in DX12 games and the console monopoly.

Dude is saying this is the best thing that ever was a thing, so that kind of sound like the price is going to be a bit high.
And lose their tiered audience? Not a chance. They'll make a product for each price demographic.

They can't make this thing a grand, how would the price the TI, Titan versions etc. All AMD would do is have to do is really undercut them to make headway in the market segment. $600 tops.

Just pull the trigger please, I'm ready to go.
This image tells me nothing.

Reviews, with actual benchmarks. Until we get that, I'm not eating Nvidia's PR.

But yeah, this isn't going to be cheap folks.

Yeah, we can tell you never rehearse Jen-Hsun.

I'm a strong willed man, who can be strong willed and wait for the 1080 Ti next year. I am strong willed. I have a strong willed 980 Ti which is strong willed like me. STRONG WILLED.
Don't you dare pull that trigger yet. I see them fingers shaking already.

So much cringe.

Why don't they get people who know conferences to write these? It's almost like their enginners did double duty and scripted this.
I think enthusiasts who are actually willing to upgrade every year appreciate the real-ness.

Calling it 600 dollars ...RIP amd
No way.

If that performance/watt chart is even remotely indicative of reality, they aren't going to sell this card for anything close to $600.

Why would they dramatically increase the price of their cards? Why are you guys making nonsense predictions? They lowered the price of the super high performing x70 last time.
Because further increasing performance is getting increasingly difficult, expensive, and time-consuming. The steps will be increasingly farther apart in time. We have already seen that. That means they need something new to sell in between -- either new tech or older tech at price levels which reach new customers.

Anyway, we'll know soon!

Dude is saying this is the best thing that ever was a thing, so that kind of sound like the price is going to be a bit high.

But isnt every new architecture better than the last gen flagship card? And arent they never priced outside the regular range of whatever xx series they are?

"Last time" was the final cycle of an old tech.

This is the first cycle of a new tech.

When he said how much they spent on R&D what he actually meant was:

And now customers will pay for it.

The price really needs to come down. It's pretty hard to justify anything over $399 for a card since technology change so fast.

The 970 was a huge hit because of the price and performance. $599 is just too much.

Hopefully not, but it kind of seems like they are setting up for that. Also, I think their Ti and Titan X numbers have probably taught them a bit about what people are willing to pay for their product.

what does this even mean? A 1080 is vaguely 4 1/3 power and the Titan X is roughly 3 3/5 power? what's the power difference?!?!?!!!??!!??!?!

crap

we're going to have to wait on reviews for that information, aren't we?

It means even Nvidia is claiming only a 25% increase in performance, so real world 5%?

Still the power per watt is real impressive.

Nvidia preemptively released the 980ti at a killer price point to fight the Fury X.

If they see cheap Polaris as a threat they'll price competitively

Anyone remember those demo program things they used to release with new cards to show off tech?

Do they still do that? I always like to download the older ones and run them to make me feel better about myself, lol...

I'm really hoping this is around 750.

They will come down when the 1080 TI and Titan come out next year.
