NY Gov Eliot Spitzer (D) involved in prostitution ring

He released a statement, an apology to the public and his family. No word of resigning, but that he would be taking some time to regain the trust of his family.

That's a curious statement that deserves exploration.

I hope you were being facetious or something. Because I can't think of a statement that would demonstrate such a complete and total ignorance of New York the way that one does.

I was referring to their ability to operate as a party with any relevance in the state using intentionally inflammatory vocabulary.

A re-gerrymandered NY-possible with just a change to the State Senate, if my readings on the topic are correct-could conceivably wipe out what little is left of the state's GOP represenatation in Congress. With no Senators, no Congressmen, no Governorship, and no majority in the state legislative houses, they would be essentially defunct.

Aha. Well, you were absolutely and patently wrong.

There are huge chunks of New York state that are traditionally republican. Regardless of how anyone rejiggers the voting districts, the population's inclinations will remain unchanged.

I must have mistaken the part where in 2006 the NY GOP lost three seats to be reduced to a 23-6 split with Democrats and almost lost three more that same year (2-4 point squeakers against underfunded underdogs), and has three more races listed by CQ as close this year going into what looks like a favorable Democratic headwind.

NY will likely lose two seats in the 2010 census, then all you have to do is draw the maps to fuck over the last three Republicans, courtsey of a a Dem legislature.
 
I'm reading reports, and I'm confused exactly what his involvement was. Did he have sex with a prostitute? Is he getting money from the ring? I can't find a story sufficiently exlpaining what his involvement is.
