Sessions is digging his heels in as expected. He and Trump want to influence and taint investigations.

Didn't Sessions lie under oath then? He said he would during his confirmation hearing. Time for his resignation.

All of this is ridiculous. There's no evidence for any of it and Gaf rolls with it like it's gospel. These fake news story's slam around the gaf echo chamber until they turn into Art Bell headlines. Shame.

Get off your alt and stick to reddit. All you're doing is proving that for some inscrutable reason you value wasting your time whining at echo chambers.

wait, so what is it, leaks or fake news, which is it lol

It's seriously like watching a man argue with himself on a street corner. Except now I know if that guy is rich, he could be President of the United States.

Nope, he said he'd recuse himself from Clinton investigations

He specifically said he saw no reason to recuse himself from Trump-Russian investigations

afaik, that was just for Hillary Clinton stuff. Did he mention the Russia stuff explicitly?

Actually he didn't say that. He actually sees no reason to recuse himself from any Russia investigations. GOP asked for tainted and influenced investigations by pushing him through. Quote below from NYT article.

During a bitter confirmation fight that focused partly on his closeness to Mr. Trump, Mr. Sessions said last month that he saw no need to remove himself from any decisions involving Russia-related investigations and the White House, writing that he was "not aware of a basis to recuse myself."

He won't resign, he won't recuse himself from any investigations, Trump won't fire his friend who is backing him up and GOP most likely won't say a word while Democrats are too weak to force it.

Well the GOP had really better hope that they don't lose the house or senate before Trump's term is over or the retribution for this is going to make the civil war look like a dinner party.

Why is he exacerbating the issue
I believe he wants more leaks to come out.
Give Feinberg and Trump/Feinberg loyalists in the IC a breadcrumb trail to follow.

That... and to keep his legions of followers riled up against his designated enemy to the state.
Plus, ranting on Twitter gives Donny his outlet to feel good about himself.

That explains why he's doing this but not why no one in the WH is stopping him. Do they want him to crash a burn?
A lot of them do... yes. He's not a popular guy.

The layers of this tweet. I can't tell if he's projecting about his made up story for why he didn't win the popular vote.

He's trying really desperately to push the narrative that his electoral vote win is the equivalent of the popular vote, which is the vote he actually cares about, and that it was an incredible gigantic win.

Given 306 EVs is not remotely notable. It's bog standard for wins, and much lower than both Obama wins. That he's trying to talk it up is a sign of hilarious desperation to prop himself up and a sign of his endless insecurity over his huge loss in the popular vote.

This is what a bad loss in the EC looks like

In all seriousness, people. How do you handle the rage and frustration when reading the bolded?

It makes me so angry and makes me feel so helpless. My usual outlets don't seem to help the issue.

Any advice?

Beta Blockers are good for the treatment of rage disorders so I'd assume they work well for appropriate rage as well. Other than that, just a profound sense of numbness to all of this and focusing on the things you can do to make society better.

The only thing we can really do at this point is to look into the midterms and try to get the house, people like evan mcmullin, republicans against trump to primary republicans in districts that democrats can't really win, and obviously democrats in seats that are close

Edit: Pretty sure they announced the presser is to announce the new labor secretary, doubt he discusses leaks at all

Will probably be about the leaks and/or a possible response to Russia's actions lately.

Whatever it is, the conference will be a shitshow.

I'm already prepping my bingo card. I wonder if he'll mention his crowd sizes or the election again, or whether he'll just blame Obama/Hillary/The Dems for trying to undermine him.

I'm sure it'll be about leaks even if it isn't about leaks. He could be taking to the girl scouts and he'll, like that weird uncle everyone has, start rambling about something else and turn it around into being about leaks.

This assumes that Democrats can get their shit together. I have no faith in that happening.

There's probably a reason why Bannon sees the press as the opposition party than the Democrats.

That being said, it's now a full on effort to bring down Trump. Just keep protesting Americans. We need ye brave souls.

I don't really either but I do think there's a strong basis for a Tea Party like movement to start prior to 2018 to replace the current Democrats in Congress with new models that include spines.

It's pretty clear that the Republicans and Trump have neither the intention nor the ability to actually address the real economic anxiety issues that fueled some of this situation so I would expect a surge of protest votes even in Red States to form an actual opposition to Trump (as opposed to the imaginary Press/IC opposition).

He can never stay on topic. No matter what the audience or the topic is, he will somehow manage to talk about his election win, and whine about the media.

Mark my words.

Press conference is for announcing new Secretary of Labor nominee.

Expect more because Trump can't stay on topic for shit and rambles.

Find a Women's March huddle or anti-Trump protest in your area, engage with like-minded individuals in your area and find a productive outlet to vent that rage and frustration in a meaningful fashion. It's incredibly therapeutic... not to mention being a vital opportunity for you to express your dissatisfaction with your government.

Lol "damn you for releasing proof of potential treason after I tried to cover it up!"

Like a child angry at being caught

Fucking told ya.

Now what if he does find the leakers and charges them and dissuades others from leaking or working against him huh?

Soon as he get's enough Comey's in the highest positions of power in the IC all the leaks in the world won't matter one fucking jot.
The sheer amount of the IC (both domestic and foreign) working against him makes it very/difficult. Plus, spooks are heavily decentralised for a reason.

Historically speaking, this isn't a fight you can win.

I wouldn't be surprised if somebody from the IC leaks everything they have to an ally or already has.

If we assume the leaker is a spy how do they expect to find him or her when their entire job is about avoiding detection?

Does he think his billionaire buddy will intimidate them by strapping them down to a table with a slow moving laser while he strokes a cat wearing a jeweled collar?

... wait, he actually does think that doesn't he?
