The problem is most of those handbooks usually rely on at least th threat or backing eventually that of the US military. You can't use that threat against the commander in chief.
What ever happened to that talk about many members of the IC supporting Trump? I seem to recall something about descriptions of 'Trumpsville' or 'Trump country' in the FBI.
I recall hearing that too about the FBI, but remember, the IC is made up of multiple agencies including the NSA, CIA, military intelligence, DEA, and so on. Just because one agency may be stacked with Trump supporters doesn't mean the whole community is.

Many of the IC organizations/reorg will have to come from Congress and the Pentagon. With the Senate Intelligience Committee already coming on board on investigating Russia and Mattis I think Trump is going to have a tough fight there.
Now if Mattis resigns? Then you know its Dictator Trump rolling through.
I think he singled out the FBI for spreading lies/leaks or something like that. He has no friends anywhere.
Jason Chaffetz also said something to that tune. You realize that Trump also wants an investigation to find the leakers, right?Well. Looks like Republicans are starting to change their tunes. Paul Ryan is now saying their should be an investigation into Flynn and possible leaks to Russia. So it's looking like we may be getting an actual investigation.
You are talking about organizations that have handbooks to get rid of people like this and have done so for decades. this is not primaries or the election were he just need to lie his way to power, this are facts that will eventually see the light of day.
I think at that point the house and senate would finally cave.
Also, there were stories that he almost quit right at the start.
Agreed, the IC currently has the upper hand, but at one point so did all of his other opponents, but ultimately he can purge these agencies. The IC is forcing the republicans hand here into an investigation, it can turn around to bite them, especially if it is perceived as too politically damaging and threatening to their republican majority. We need to stop hoping republicans will grow a spine and apply pressure, as long as there is a rubber stamp at that desk they will defend him.
My god you don't want a military coup in America are you out of your mind

Mattis isn't going anywhere. You need to chill with the fantasy scenarios.I hear you man, But if we are getting to the point where your SecDef is going to resign because Trump wants to whitewash IC organizations. I mean eventually some groups will push back.
Yes, and Chaffetz has stated that they are going to find the individuals who leaked the informationthey aren't looking into Fylnn's call right now.You realize an investigation to find the leakers is very different than an investigation into Flynn's ties to Russia, right?

Am I the only who reads this and thinks he's feigning outrage, but in reality has no clue what to do, or who actually is leaking?

like i said, this is different, because this doesn't depend on public vote to decide what should be done, Trump can lie, yell, insult all he wants, but when facts are out he can do little to stop it. This is not the Primaries or Presidential elections, this is just like how the Judiciary shut down his Muslim Ban, there somethings that he cant Win out.Agreed, the IC currently has the upper hand, but at one point so did all of his other opponents, but ultimately he can purge these agencies. I don't really care what CNN and their unconfirmed sources say. Mattis has unbelievable influence in this administration, and he usually gets what he wants (which is a good thing for liberals). He's not going anywhere.Yeah such a fantasy that it almost happened once already.

He's not the kind of guy to flinch (the article said he threatened to quit which is really surprising), but yes he is a man of principle. Trump supported torture/ water boarding, and Mattis openely disagreed with him; Trump said he'd defer to Mattis on these issues.Yes. Thats basically what the article said. He drew a line and they caved.
But he does seem like a man of principal, and if he draws another and they don't cave, I don't think he'd flinch before bailing on them.
Where???
The agencys investigation of Mr. Manafort began last spring as an outgrowth of a criminal investigation into his work for a pro-Russian political party in Ukraine and for the countrys former president, Viktor F. Yanukovych. It has focused on why he was in such close contact with Russian and Ukrainian intelligence officials.
He wants to cast this as a purely partisan witchunt, and maybe even draw Clinton out to respond, which would work in that favor. Why is he exacerbating the issue
I don't understand this theory? Why would Bannon want to undermine Flynn?

Why would Bannon put himself on the NSC and then depose the leader of the NSC? I think it's pretty easy to guess. It's a pretty huge and effective power grab. Flynn was personally controlling what intel Trump saw and he was a Trump ally for longer than Bannon. Removing him puts Bannon in a much better position.
Nah.
1. The damage it does to the administration hurts him more than what he gains
2. The danger of what is happening now (new nominee wants only his people in NSC) was too great.
3. Flynn had loose lips after Obama dismissed him, too big of a danger that the same would happen if he had even an inkling that he was taken out from the inside.
I don't buy the Bannon angle for a second.
One of Bannon's central tenets is to use chaos to grab power. I think there is going to be a pattern of plenty of churn at the White House with Bannon remaining as a constant.

They're tee'd off. They're telling golf ball anecdotes. They're being investigated for treason.
They're still talking about golf.
