I think the turnout and response to this rally tomorrow will give us a general idea of how effective his disinformation campaign has been. Up until now his most ardent supporters haven't really had a "safe space" where they can gather and show support for him like his opposition have had in the major cities.

If it turns out that the bulk of his election support were basically just folks who vote "R" no matter what and anti-Hillary voters then it will be reflected in lower than normal turnout to this event since those people should have been satisfied with the win. If it's a huge turnout of enthusiastic supporters then we're in for a very long fight for the soul of this nation.

Be prepared for a crowd (never underestimate the power of cult personalities), and even if it's only moderately large, be prepared for Trump to tout its size as justification for his decisions for the weeks and months ahead regardless.

I think the more parsimonious explanation is that he's just fucking dumb.

Picking up the phone when Taiwan called wasn't calculated. Saying that he favors the one state solution isn't calculated... He just doesn't know anything.

John McCain is increasingly mad as hell about President Trump. And on Friday, he went after Trump — hard.

During a speech at the Munich Security Conference in Germany, the Republican senator from Arizona delivered a pointed and striking point-by-point takedown of Trump's worldview and brand of nationalism. McCain didn't mention Trump's name once, but he didn't have to.

And even considering the two men's up-and-down history and the terrible things Trump has said about McCain, it was a striking display from a senior leader of a party when it comes to a president of the same party.

In his speech, McCain suggested the Western world is uniquely imperiled this year — even more so than when Barack Obama was president — and proceeded to question whether it will even survive.

“In recent years, this question would invite accusations of hyperbole and alarmism; not this year,” McCain said. “If ever there were a time to treat this question with a deadly seriousness, it is now.”

In case there was any doubt that this was about Trump. Here's what followed:

"[The founders of the Munich conference] would be alarmed by an increasing turn away from universal values and toward old ties of blood and race and sectarianism.”
“They would be alarmed by the hardening resentment we see towards immigrants and refugees and minority groups -- especially Muslims.”
“They would be alarmed by the growing inability -- and even unwillingness -- to separate truth from lies.”
"They would be alarmed that more and more of our fellow citizens seem to be flirting with authoritarianism and romanticizing it as our moral equivalent."

I'm going to make a bit of a left field prediction and say Russia has tapes of Trump raping someone under the age of consent. It sounds pretty dramatic, but after reading a few things earlier today, I realised what else could really be on the tape which could theoretically provide such leverage over Trump, there is already a ton of footage of his awful behaviour (grabbing people by the pussy, mocking disabled people etc).

These things take time. Nixon's scandal took nearly 9 months to get enough momentum to even launch an investigation, and then it took another year and a half of investigations to build a strong enough case to impeach him, and even then there was still plenty of opposition to remove him from office. These things aren't quick and easy affairs. It's going to take a ton of journalism, investigations, reporting, and hard work to build a strong enough case.

It sucks but... be patient.

The video could be him losing to Obama at Shuffleboard and hed probably bring down our whole government to supress it.

Let's not go overboard here. There's enough shit on Trump that is a lot easier to prove than something like that, and has a lot more evidence for it.

Starting with the shit on the dossier would be a start. It seems as if some of it is being vetted as we speak.

Possible, wasn't he pretty close to that guy who arranged underage sex parties for the rich and famous. I believe stuff like that happens all the time.
