Oblivion PS3 and PSP revealed + screens

I'd say it's a bit early to make generalizations like that... I mean, the system's not even out yet.

Well shit last generation ever multiplat looked the best on the Xbox....

How so? They've already said they've got upgraded textures and extra content. Are they adding the extra textures because they can't even get the system to do as well as the 360, even though every single multiplatform game out there that's been ported looks better on the PS3?

I'm not quite sure why you find my comment so outlandish. It's possible they aren't putting in any work, but given EA made a game better handing FN off to a smaller, lesser team, I'd think it's more than likely that this version will be superior.

I guess we'll have to wait for the OPM article to see what comments are made. I'm thinking we'll hear good things ;)

Ha ha ha. You really are on the verge.

Wow.

Can anyone (other than sonycowboy) remind me why anyone would assume a PS3 version would look worlds better than the PC or 360 versions? Because on paper there isn't a huge difference between the 360 and the PS3.

I think the RAM would be the main issue here and they are identical save for the slightly larger PS3 OS (if that still stands)

Where are the trolls who said no Oblivion could be done on any system less than the 360? It happened every time Oblivion was brought up for Wii Ports, DS Port, etc.

Because porting to the PS3 is about the same as a Wii port???

I usually trust you sonycowboy despite your name, but that post DOES seem out of character for you.

can i have a link to where they said they have higher res textures because it doesn't say it on the 1up page. someone quoting from the magazine? i just want confirmation.

also. F.E.A.R. and The Darkness are two multiplatform titles that are looking better on the 360 right now.

you can't say 'every' and not expect a backlash.

Judging from those screenshots, it looks rather disapointing. Especially after the pimping this version got before these screens popped up. Must see more of the game and in motion, before we can really judge about it.

Anyway the PSP version will be intresting and in what kind of way it will interact with the PS3 version. That feature can make this version really stand apart from it's Xbox360/PC counterparts.

Bethesda has never said, that the PS3 Version will have better textures.

JoePM (hint:OPM) says the PS3 Version looks identical to the 360 version

Folks hoping for a downgraded port are going to be very disappointed. This one has higher res textures, better performance, made knowing the HDD will always be there, and extra content. As with every other multiplatform game, it's going to look the best on the PS3. And if it follows the pattern of every other 9M+ old multiplatform game, it's going to look substantially better.

It would be great for this game if it does support 1080p because of the vast landscapes when you're out in the world.

While I don't think it will really look downgraded, I still think you are kidding yourself if you think it is automatically going to look better on the PS3. This talk about "every other multiplatform game" is simply speculation and mostly bullshit - we have no way to actually compare any of these games yet. Chances are they will look identical.

What's gotten into you lately? Did Kaz hack your account or something? :lol

PC version, just for comparison.

On a side note, I'm also willing to bet that the pop-in and framerate issues are still in the PS3 version.

Hmm. I recend my comment in the other thread. I could have sworn that the shadows looked better than that. An LOD slider?

In other news, Sonycowboy's excitement is getting the best of him. :P

oh hell...same old shit again...the is the gaming gladiator arena...can be entertaining at times though...Anyway, good addition to launch for sure, since there are no launch rpgs lined up, and this is an excellent one by all accounts

peace

Uh it looks the same as the 360 version, and worse than top end PCs. What it has going for it is the extra content not yet announced for the 360 version.

Dont shatter the "tangible difference" delusion unless you want this thread locked.

Sorry, I thought I read that in the previous thread and ran with it. I love how folks are jumping all over me given that we've got more than enough evidence that PS3 ports to date look better.

In any case, I concede. It's a truly great game and deserves to be played by everybody regardless of the system they have. I'm loving it.

That's maxed out. Sometimes the damn scenery just takes a moment to "pop in". If this is fixed on the PS3 version, which I doubt it will be, it'll be HUUUUGE.

For that matter, does FNR3 even look better? I don't know if Criscoesque levels of sweat equals "better".
no question FNR3 looks better. it's not just the sweat, it's the veins and muscles on the boxers that look better. lighting is better too (though i'm still unsure if that's technical or artistic).

i've bolded that because i agree with it. PS3 fans are in for a treat even if the game 'only' runs as well as it did on the 360.

but it isn't every PS3 port that looks better. again, i'll say F.E.A.R. and The Darkness. heck, F.E.A.R. looks a lot better on the 360 right now than on the PS3. that might change and all, but it's not like there are no games on both consoles that look better on the 360.

most arguably look better on the ps3, but you can't run with absolutes.

Namco phoning it in vs Namco making an effort

fair-enough. i'm only arguing for the sake of it. :)

i already bought Oblivion once for PC, and the PS3 version would have to have a megaton of new content to make me buy it again.

Now for the PSP version... I'm listening Bethesda (Climax???)

Uhm what exactly are you talking about? What "every single" multiplatform game that's been ported to the PS3? Exactly how many are there currently that you have seen and compared to be superior on PS3?

I don't mean to drag this down, but I downloaded the Fear demo and to me it looks pretty bad. It all looks so simple and basic. I suppose the PS3 could be worse, but that game isn't pushing the 360 or PS3 at all if that's the case.
