Odin Sphere Leifthrasir |OT| Second Revision

This is the first LE in a while that Amazon didn't destroy when shipping to me. I guess this is what happens when you don't put a cardboard boxed LE into a goddamned bubble envelope.

Art book is now on the shelf next to my Dragon's Crown book.

I'm looking forward to receiving the storybook edition later today, but what to do with the sure to be enormous t shirt?

I should've been playing this last night, but UPS has mysteriously lost my package.

Amazon is sending out a replacement and it'll get here on Friday, but I'm extremely disappointed in UPS.

Always something with these guys.

I was going to get the Vita for extra portability (and the Prime discount makes it $32).

I don't have a PS4 yet (waiting for the Neo), but seeing that Storybook Edition unboxing...

Dammit all

Well, if you're absolutely sure you won't wear it, you could make a pillow out of it. I used to do that with my favorite shirts when I outgrew them.

That's a really good idea actually. I may do that too, thanks!

Also, when do we unlock the other characters? Really wanted to start as Velvet since I loked how she played
and I love her design :P
. Does one unlock after you beat the previous or is at set points in the story?

You have to play out the stories in order. Velvet is last...

Lol figures. I was already considering favorite for last typr of scenario, but I guess now I'm just forced to :P

Tis fine, the other characters are fun as well. I just liked Velvet slightly more ^^

Thanks for the quick response!

Game is pretty gorgeous in HD. Makes me wonder if they will ever release an HD update of Muramasa on PS4. That's one I definitely wouldn't mind replaying...

Getting closer to finishing Cornelius' story. I see in the story branch trees that each story seems to have some chapters that might unlock after I finish the rest. If so god damn, this game is long.

As expected, Odin Sphere was left in front of my door while I was out of state.

It was alone for 24 hours. It is now gone with the wind. Hopefully Amazon can hook it up.

That sucks. I had a package stolen once and Amazon sent a replacement, hopefully they'll do the same for you.

Augh D: I am so sorry that happened.

Thanks! Yeah, I just got off with their chat, they said they'd replace it and overnight it. Apparently it was "lost" even though tracking said it was left at the front door. Oh well. I had off tonight and the next 2 days, so I was forward to sinking my teeth into this. Couldn't confirm whether Gamestop had the storybook edition in stock in time, so waiting it is.

Game is still pretty on PSTV. I'm enjoying it a lot, and it feels much better to play than the PS2 version. Currently at the start of Gwen's chapter 3.

those are some absurdly poofy shoulders

I was wondering if Odin Sphere trophies were separate for Vita and PS4 can you guys let me know it wasn't posted on the OT.

Beat Cornelius' campaign. Started Mercedes and taking a break for the day, might play a bit later today who knows.

The issue is that Mercedes might be the crutch that halts my fast progress with the game so far. She plays so differently from every other character. It turns her into basically a scrolling shooter. Not a fan of her in the slightest.

You guys who find hard easy must be much better at this game than I am. I'm making steady progress, but there are some tough bosses/mid-bosses on hard. Fun game though ^^

LMAO either I'm completely missing how to do it or it's not possible but if it's not, Mercedes is officially the worst.

You use the PP for every shot you make. The counter is she can reload an it reloads your bar and that she's easily the strongest in dps.

The downside, her movements and attack style aside which is obvious enough, is that to reload you must be STANDING PERFECTLY FUCKING STILL on the ground. In the middle of a huge group of enemies and run out of ammo? Stand still and give them a couple of cheap shots.

In the middle of a boss fight who loves to do attacks on the ground that knock you the fuck out? You gotta stand perfectly fucking still, so a cheap shot guaranteed for him.

And if it wasn't bad enough, you can't even reload by flying or o a manual reload. The fuck. If I'm mistaken please correct me, this is annoying. Worst character.

I was super hyped for this game but Amazon screwed me over and now I'm out of $40, the game and the pre order bonus.....joy. I'll just wait for a price drop to get it since I'm too salty to enjoy it atm. Anyways, how long does it take to plat this game? Is it harder to get than Muramasa?

So I'm a complete idiot. I'm playing Odin Sphere and Mirror's Edge simultaneously and I guess some information is just not sticking -- how do I equip abilities to the different directions of the circle button again? I just learned it in a tutorial yesterday but failed to retain it, and now I'm like 4 hours in and still only have Gwendolyn's basic ice orb attack equipped, even though I've unlocked quite a lot of abilities that I could be using...

One last question (excited to be apart of NeoGaf new member) is the Vita Version worth it for $54.99 Cad or should I buy the PS4 limited edition?

You press square in the skill menu.

L1 menu during gameplay and you will see the button prompts to bind in the menu.

i have no clue how amazon can screw you over out of $40

So I decided to purchase the Storybook Edition despite not having a PS4 yet :P

I couldn't ignore it, it's soo glorious. It'll just be sitting there til the Neo comes out. I wanna play it now though! D:

Storybook arrived in surprisingly good shape. Amazon still can't package anything properly, so I was lucky. Played through the first boss.

Some of the menu navigation will take some getting used to, and I'm finding the combat a bit on the easy side (mostly S for now), but more fun than dragons crown imo.

The big problem with Mercedes' portions is that, bar the shoot em' up sections, most of the areas aren't built around her ease of movement/speed in the air so it becomes awkward given how the first two characters function as a solid introduction to the basic combat in Odin Sphere. It's an attempt to balance out her long range capabilities that doesn't quite work once you get used to using her/get the ability to recharge POW by finishing off foes.

Just did the first two or three bosses as Gwendolyn

Game is soooo much better than the PS2 game. I did not like the original but this game is really great. I'm loving it so far.

They put a hold on my payment so now I can't use that money till the hold is gone. Even though I called my bank and they said that the charge was authorized and that I shouldn't have had any problems with my order but Amazon keeps saying that the charge wasn't made and my money is stuck on limbo.

Yeah I'm further along her story. She's actually probably the strongest. I also just got unlimited ammo skill that should be useful as I could use POW skills and shooting without care while it's active.

As you say the encounters aren't really made around her. Bosses, while easy to kill fast, are basically functioning the same as with the melee guys. And she has zero to no finesse so air juggling is out of the question.

Killing regular baddies is a pain because when they surround you it's not easy to turn her around, so either you dodge or use the AOE power that pulls them all in front of you.

Regular encounters are a pain if there's a combination of ground and air units too.

In short she's the strongest but also my least favorite to use. I'm actually using the ice/fire shield potions just to help when I reload and shit.

I can already tell that Oswald might be the polar opposite. Fun and easy to control but all speed no power.

The gameplay is incredibly flashy which I like. It's like playing a fighting-platformer game where it's reliant on combos... Kinda like Bayonetta in 2D.

To get All Dishes Conquered trophy, do I need one person to eat all the dishes or different characters can eat different dishes?

My memory of the original is pretty blurry but I remember getting all the endings. Loving this version so far, happy to do the same again especially with all the additions.

I think hard mode is a decent challenge, I've been refusing to move on from a fight until I've S ranked it. Some of the mid-bosses are pretty rough. Gwendolyn's Blizzard skill is amazing though, I recommend people upgrade it to max.

So how is it? The PS2 game is one of my favorite games ever, how does this hold up in comparison?

There is no way you won't love this if you enjoyed the original that much. Lots of stuff added that makes it feel fresh and improve the game. I liked the original a lot as well.

It blows the he ps2 version out of the park. Hd visuals, NO SLOWDOWN during boss fights is so nice. Even has the original game if you don't care for the combat changes. Must purchase if you loved the ps2 game.

PS4 Impressions: simply amazing. I played some last night, and I'm super impressed with the game play. Responsive, flowing, FUN! The graphics are gorgeous. The whole package is just wonderful. Storybook edition is an absolutely stunning packaging. Atlus does it again!

I also got a Vita copy, but haven't played it yet? Impressions there, anyone? Going back to an OLED model for this gem.
