Odin Sphere Leifthrasir |OT| Second Revision

Leech move is down square charged
I advise using fire spirit potions for the snow golem though honestly I didn't have fun fighting it so I lowered the difficulty.
You can't track the food thing but my advice is to leave it for when you have finished the game and start from the first one and make your way down the list.

Thanks for the answers.

Yea that enemy is probably my least favorite fight in the game. I keep forgetting about 90% of the alchemy items in this game. I've pretty much only used the elemental ones that open secrets in stages and a few health potions. I'll give the fire spirits a try.

That fight is where alchemy really starts to shine. I had great success using a high level Killer cloud (material plus three Cubsbane) and a whirlwind ( material plus three Turny). Those two are your most powerful things you can make, and you can use both together! If you can keep dodging and keep them in the attacks, it will do nearly all of the work for you.

P.S. You dont need to have found the alchemy texts to make anything, so feel free to play around with alchemy

Few questions:

- Anybody find Mercedes' Skill, Earth Roar? (maybe roar of earth or something). It's the last one I need, and I cannot find the damn thing. I've been through that level at least 3x in every area.

- What's the button combination for doing Oswald's vampire leech move (that fills your berserk gauge). I remember doing it in his tutorial, but I couldn't remember which buttons did it, and I can't find it in the in-game manual.

- Any tips on the dual snow/rock golems with Oswald? I keep getting crushed by the damn bounce moves. Truth be told, I could probably just pack a bunch of health items and cheese through it, but I've been historically weak at fighting that particular enemy with any character.

- Is there any way to track which meals you've eaten? I will need to get that trophy soon, and I have no idea.

Also, I've played all the characters now, and I have to say that by far, Oswald is my favorite. The teleporting and quick combos and transformation just feels so good. He doesn't have the impact that Cornelius does, but he's just so fast. I'll definitely just be playing around with his combos after I finish the game.
I've been looking forward to playing as Oswald since I got the original game in 2007.

Stopped at Cornelius' epilogue back then. The 9 year wait paid off in spades. Such a fun character to control, and all of his moves are super flashy as well.

Yes they are the best! I always convert toxins and cyclones to those asap. They're great for bosses with adds, and for challenge levels.

I'm playing through Cornelius' part right now and I haven't even touched most of his skills. The cheap 5 PP electric bolt and the spiral claw are both so effective that even bosses sometimes don't have a chance to do anything. I'll have to make an effort to try other stuff.

The addition of having hidden skill crystals to hunt for is nice. Overall the flow of the game is an improvement for sure. Even something as simple as being able to plant/eat in bulk in the item menu, not having separate wheels for each bag, etc - huge QOL improvements.

For people who've gotten to Mercedes, is she still cheese-central? In the original, ground enemies wouldn't even make it onscreen. You could mow everything down with repeated crouched piercing shots, and stroll 2 screens over to get the loot after the clear screen came up.

Mercedes is still very powerful in this version of the game, but she is a bit slow to get started. Near the end of her campaign, she is a glass cannon nuke. She can dish out MASSIVE damage, and they give you some good trails to test her out.

Man .. this just might be *the* prettiest looking game I've ever played. I don't remember the detail popping out this much on the original PS2 version.

Here's a few more screens from the PS3 version.

It's so beautiful on the vita screen too. When I first started it up I was taking screenshots of everything, it took me a while to actually start playing it.

I started her part last night, and she feels so sluggish. Mercedes being after Cornelius is a big adjustment. With him, the thicker the clump of enemies, the better to puree them - but Mercedes needs space.

Improved POW recovery will make her more fun, and the first PP skill already helps mitigate things by giving her more chances to reload.

Whoever is the sound designer for Velvet should be fired.

The noise her chains make every time you move, attack, or do anything is perhaps the most unpleasant noise ever in a game. My dog barks every time I play as her. I can't believe they thought it was a good idea. Maybe I'm just sensitive, but I have to mute the game whenever I play because holy crap, it's AWFUL.

Didn't notice this at all.

Velvet is fun to play as but her story seems to be the hardest by far.
Wagner
was a real challenge.

Wagner is an impetuous jerk in every character's story, it seems.

Velvet's end boss spoilers:

Darkova was underwhelming! The whole game hyped up this terrifying beast that King Gallon transformed into, then Ingway uses the transformation, and it looks intimidating but is THE EASIEST FINAL BOSS IN THE GAME. I literally stood there and spammed fire moves and threw toxins at it and it barely had a chance to scratch me.

Don't know if it's been said, but it appears Classic Mode doesn't pop any trophies. Just a heads up for you trophy hunters. I "cheated" and took a quick peek at Refined Mode. It's practically a different game. Looking forward to it after finishing Classic. I want to drag this game out.

I'm having some problem getting to the treasure box in the Fire Kingdom. There's one vertical map (with some steam) that you have to jump to the very top. I can't jump that high no matter what I tried. I can't find any walkthrough on that part either. Has anyone able to get that? Please help, thanks.

Double jump and press Up+Square.

Armageddon was nuts. I had to take it down to Normal.

The ending was cool.
Choosing the right order based on the prophecies was a very creative idea. Playing through Armageddon 3 or 4 times to get the last cutscene was not. I am glad they show you the living King Valentine, though.

I dunno, I wrecked
Belial
w/o a sweat on Cornelius. Reverse Claw is pretty OP in and of itself for that instant side switch, but then they went and gave him a spammable, low cost (5MP) Spark Bolt stun spell which is just broken tier.

It's not the final boss, but this is me taking Cornelius to wreck one of those 5-star Miracle Fruit challenges on Hard (at matching level) w/o even taking a scratch: http://sendvid.com/q9wxltbu

What skills should I get for Mercedes? Because right now she sucks, I'm lvl 16 and still can't beat the lvl 14 trial bosses. It seems like she doesn't have any good stun moves or AOE attacks. I really hope she's the only ranged character in the story, I hate playing her because how bad her skills suck.

Beat it on hard with about 33 hours into it. Man I forgot how boring getting the
true end
was. The game was pretty damn easy overall on hard, might play on a harder difficulty once I get over "played too much" syndrome.

Her first PP ability, the one with the big shot that wastes very little PP. You don't need any other active ability.

I literally used nothing but Round Shot and Spread Shot.

Mercedes is broken strong. I don't understand why people don't like playing her at all, I wrecked ASS.

At Mercedes's portion of the story and I can see why some people would complain.

Unlike the nimble Gwen and Cornelius, Mercedes controls like a tank and is very cumbersome to maneuver which can be frustrating. Some issues would include:

-- Needing to stop firing for at least a full second to be able to turn around or block.
-- Needing to land to recover POW.
-- Needing to land and full stop for 3 seconds, while being fully exposed, to reload the bow.

Some of these are addressed through skill upgrades, but at first she is a royal pain to play. And so help me, "Here we go!" has been forever scarred into my memory.

mercedes plays slower, but due to her high dmg, beating bosses is WAY faster
i've been getting S on all bosses and trials relatively easily

this game is pretty easy in general i found (even on hard), i'm plowing through all the stages by going on the offensive and the game seems to be autoblocking a lot for me
on the epilogue of of mercedes now

I got through her section by spamming roll (which animation cancels everything pretty well for every character) and I thought she controlled pretty well with fast drops and super speed.
Never had a problem with reloading either because there was only one moment where it was "man this sucks" and that was endgame.
Then again, it's a "yeah but it works for me" argument so :V

One thing I just like is that end bosses aren't ranked. You can feel free to dump a bunch of resources and get down and dirty, no holds barred. No judgment on how you choose to handle these epic battles.

Playing through Odin Sphere has greatly increased my desire for another Dragon's Crown. I have been wishing this game was multiplayer the whole time!

Is it safe to assume that this game won't get any DLC? I'm still thinking of whether I should pick up the European PS3 or Vita version, but if I were to get the Vita version I would have to play it on my US account and have no access to any possible DLC.

Dragon's Crown was super fun but oh man my desire to grind for weapons was too much.

Really? I'm playing on hard, and she's the one I'm dying the most on. Fuck the Trial Stage on epilogue map.

I beat the game on hard as well and she's pretty much the most dangerous person of the bunch.
I always thought the trial stages were fun as her because everything is like a 9-1 matchup in her favor.

Same. Especially once you get the Vampire Ring +2, Jesus.... no stopping her.

I didn't like her at the start but towards the end, she wrecked havok.

Also Velvet, she's super strong.

So how similar is the classic mode in this game to the original? Exactly the same? I never played it back in the day.

It's the same rules and mechanics as the PS2 version. Massively different from the updates made to the Remix mode in numerous ways. I don't think trophies are offered if playing in Classic mode either and it requires a separate save file(so you can't switch on the fly).

Hard to really go back also, as phozon management alone can feel exponentially more tedious, especially mid-battle. Not to mention the scaled back combat prowess, but I fully understand why purists would enjoy its inclusion with the updated visual fidelity.

Dragon's Crown 2? Meh.

I just want more details on 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim.

How do you get the hidden Phozon Prism for Velvet in the Forest of Elrit? I destroyed the fruit the first time through, but it doesn't come back when I revisit. Attacking all over the screen and pressing up+X in front of the leaves doesn't do anything.

I'm receiving this tomorrow.

Anything missable? Any particular order I should follow with the characters?

Any tips for a noob?

Who knows? Muramasa Rebirth got DLC.
