Offical Thread of Slippery Slope Arguments

i can't believe anybody would try to infringe on my perfectly justified right to own a weapon capable of destroying small villages of dark-skinned people. i mean, that's what they're for, right?

It'd almost be endearing if it came from the mouth of a little boy, but from a (presumably) fully-grown adult male?
When have the republicans chipped away at free speech? I can't think of anything besides McCain-Feingold

Oh no . . . I can't get an assault weapon! What will I do!

You really don't need one for hunting or home defense.

And if you think you need one in case the government gets uppity, you've already lost. Your assault weapon is not much of a match against an F-22. It is not even a match against a Bradley.

Who the fuck collects replicas? You collect replica baseball cards? Fucking retarded.

Tough shit then. I'm sure theres plenty of objects that collectors would love to own, doesn't mean they should have the right to.

The good things these do is unite republicans and democrats(against there own party) about one of pervasations that exist in this party. I also wish the fearmongering the republicans drew the same support(stuff like REAL ID).

That sounds like Narcism of sorts...they are sending alll this stuff after me! On the flip side give up your rights folks the goverment could so F you over if it felt like it. So might as well just surrender no matter what the goverment says...They say I do.

Why bring race into it? I mean, seriously, race baiting is beneath you.

Patriot Act!
Free speech zones.
Going through library records.
wireless wire tapping

Government has this tendency to ban this today and just go on to something else tomorrow. You ban assault weapons it only encourages the banning of every other type of gun further down the road. Then we get into the absurd UK mentality of banning swords and then wanting to ban knives just because.

These types of laws basically say you don't trust law abiding citizens and that is abomination.

Banning guns seem to work well in Chicago and Washington D.C.

Cars kill far more people than AK's do in this country, why not ban them? It's not your right to decide things for people.

Technically that's more 4th amendment violations for the most part, though still atrocious.

but eating someone with consent is still illegal, and that's just wrong.

Also, grease guns are perfectly legal :D

You know what I don't need? The government telling me what the fuck I can or can't own if I'm not using it to break a law. Ownership and fear alone are not enough to justify banning an entire type of weapon.

What makes you think you have the right to tell me what to do? and how to do?...Kinda stands on the idea of freedom.

Freedom shouldn't allow for the total lack of common sense of letting civilians having such weapons.

Exactly. Government doesn't exist to tell me what I can and cannot own as long as it isn't affecting the rights and lives of others.

Freedom shouldn't allow for the total lack of common sense of letting civilians having such weapons.

Lets compare instances of crimes with Handguns to those with assault rifles, I wonder which class has killed more, not the one we want to ban.

And?

I'm not allowed to own an Aircraft carrier, I'm not allowed to house a Silverback Gorilla in my backyard, etc.

Aww poor things. Removing the right to own high powered deadly assault weapons.

Who cares if there are dozens of school shootings? We need more guns so if anyone is startled by something they kill it.

What'll they ban next?

Only owning 100 guns?
Shotguns?
Pistols?
Guns completely?!
Cars?
Shoes?
Passing one thing will give them the power to revoak everything we have OMFG! They ban air! We'll need to buy $5 air tanks every 4 hours to survive!

Honestly, they're fucking Assault Weapons. In no way are they needed. Sorry you can't enjoy collecting them but people, you know die from them.

Hey why not make all drugs legal? Some people will use them in moderation right? Who cares about the rest?

The Police state in American is keeping track over preety much everything at this point..It has gotten utterly out of control. The republicans have noticed in the last 2 years and we are very pissed off.

Consensual cannibalism is not legal.

Also, I am not allowed to develop nuclear or biological weaponry, even if I just want it to add to my collection of WMDs and don't plan on actually using it.

Even you.

Ladies and gentlemen, It's called a slope. No one has posted evidence showing the % of gun crimes being used by legal assault weapons. If you are going to ban assault weapons, than ban everything and show your true colors.

Speculawyer, none of those things removed free speech. They invaded your privacy, not the same.

If someone actually wants to be eaten, they should be able to (As far as I'm concerned). That's a weird situation all around, though.

really, j/k. i just think its ironic that certain people value their right to kill people more than they value the right for other people to be legally in love. i think its disgusting, actually.

If you could afford an Aircraft carrier you could own one.

Which do you think has killed more people in this country?

A. Handguns

B. Assault Rifles

Cause owning a gun means you want to kill people.:lol You've got to be fucking kidding me.

WickedAngel said:
Are you capable of making anything other than absurd comparisons?

Not really. Especially when people are attempting to argue that Assault Weapons are needed for self defense, collecting, hunting, etc. That's a pretty 'absurd' argument IMO.

Hey why not make all drugs legal? Some people will use them in moderation right? Who cares about the rest?

I have zero problem with legal drugs..The illegal influence of drugs has created a massive problem just south of the US. These Cartels at this point are overthrowing a goverment.

We don't NEED half the shit we have, including computers, phones, tv's, clothes, books, school.

Kinda Curious all you Pro Control people..define a Assault Weapon? What are the differences between the rounds? How far do these travel? What makes one gun more dangerous then the next? How much fragmentation does this bulletX cause versus this one bulletZ?

Ballastics are really fun.

Just wait until ones gets a whole of an Assault Weapons.

100+ dead easily.

The handguns are harder to see...Someone is more likely to call the cops ending the incident quicker...A security guard is more likely to see also.

Well, I do think the right to love is important (see... the last 15 pages or so of poligaf), but I think you're overstating the case if you think this is about the right to kill. No one is giving up their right to self defense either way, but what we're saying is just passing a law of this sort isn't going to have the intended affect (which, presumably, is to prevent dangerous people from acquiring assault weapons). Instead of law abiding people being allowed to possess them, criminals will be the only people that have access to them.

In fact, someone mentioned school shootings earlier. About a year before the Vtech shooting the university rejected a proposal to allow students to carry guns on campus (that were registered with their department of public safety as long as they had a concealed carry permit). I wonder, honestly, what would have happened if that proposal would have gone through. Perhaps the shooter would have thought twice, but maybe just maybe it also might have given some students a better chance to fight back sooner.

Ignorant generalizations are fun aren't they?

I'll be the first to admit that I wouldn't be able to hold myself back from shooting people if I had a gun. Any gun. For no other reason than Halo and counter-strike have trained me to be a proffessional killer without remorse and a detachment from the act of murder.

Dude, they created their own reporters to put into the press room to purposely distort the facts coming out of the white house.

they trashed the right to assemble peacefully.

not to mention, they tried to have the wife of an opposition reporter killed because of an unflattering editorial.

YEAH, I DONT KNOW HOW THEY INFRINGED ON THE FIRST AMENDMENT.

ugh. way off topic. sorry guys. i'll take it somewhere else. continue on your little parade.
