My co-worker and I are pretty good friends. We chat frequently throughout the day, I give him expired food, he stores my snow tires under his home. As an ongoing bit of mischief I move his water bottle in the hallway outside the mens' room but this has never been an issue. I move it in the bookshelf underneath where he leaves it, sometimes behind some papers. Again, it's never been an issue and just a bit of admittedly impish fun.
Yesterday morning I had a bit of a craigslist kerfuffle where a buyer was trying to scam me. When I threatened to come get my money back (long story, but the money was presumably still in his mailbox) he threatened to call the cops. If anyone would be calling the cops in this situation, I would think it would be me. My co-worker was feeling a bit mischievious yesterday, though. First he unplugged my USB for my wireless mouse so I thought my computer was frozen. No big thing. Then he called and pretended to be a police officer from the town where the craiglist guy was from, and relented pretty quickly but kind of had me going and slightly terrified for a moment. Then this morning I came in and he had taped the receiver button on my phone so I couldn't take calls until I realized this. He also told me he had thought about calling as a police officer again.
Last night when I was falling asleep I was struck with an idea for retaliation. When I got in this morning I put his lunch (a wrap with cold cuts, and baby carrots) in the freezer. At 11 AM he walked down holding the frozen meal and was quite displeased. He walked away before I could reply so I emailed him asking him what the issue was, since I had heard revenge was a dish ordinarily best served cold. Now he's quite cross and hasn't spoken with me in a few hours. I've tried to talk to him a couple times but he's not having it.
So GAF, did I go too far?
