Does Loki know something we don't?

Is Magic Johnson the "secret"?

Oh God I hope not.

:lol

Nah, I was just seizing on the recent (GAF-exclusive :P) speculation about Magic not really being HIV-positive. (i.e., that it was just an act to raise public awareness for the disease)

But if Magic comes back to the Lakers, he'll still be the best player on that team, with Odom a close second. :D

But if Magic made a time machine and joined the Bulls from 1990-1998, he would still be the best player on that team, with Pippen a close second. :D

For once we are in total agreement.

And you know who started the "Magic has no HIV" rumor? Obviously Magic so he could resume his Laker ways. Once a Laker, always a Laker.

Tracy Morgan is balling now??? thats whats up...

oh and I feel sort of bad for Dee Brown... he was ready to go to the league and now he has to go back to school because of that freak injury while his teammates live it up in the league...

I (being a Jazz fan) dont feel comfortable trading up to get Deron Williams, he is not that good to me, maybe Chris Paul said he would not play in UTAH...

Even though I don't think Williams is as talented as Paul I think he was the better pick for Utah. He's a much better defensive player and maybe a little better passer. Utah had a problem with too many players wanting to take alot of shots last season, and paul would have made that problem even more difficult. I think both players ended up in good teams for their styles of play.

Babcock knew picking Villanueva would be received poorly.

"When we made the choice to go with Charlie, I knew it wouldn't be a popular decision, because it's not, say, Sean May or Gerald Green," Babcock said. "(The fans) probably would have cheered (high schooler) Gerald Green because everybody has hyped him up with his athletic ability and his dunking ability and all that.

"Gerald Green could be unbelievable, a tremendous player. But right now, Charlie would just destroy him, absolutely destroy him. And Charlie is only 20."

I now take some of what I said on draft night back.

Yeah I was reading something similar to that a couple of days ago and realized that we'll just have to wait and see. I was suprised that Babcock actually said that the Raptors tried to trade down to get Charlie but there were no deals available so they just took the guy they wanted. Hopefully it works out.

Close...HIV

Ok im going on.

The thing with the Lakers pick is that all the top prospects available at no. 10 (with the exception of Sean May, who I agree with them on) were shooting guards or small forwards, positions that the Lakers are already stacked at. So I don't think it was a big deal to make a gamble on a center. If any of the good PG had fallen that far, i'm sure they would have taken them.

if Bynum had not been on the board at 10, they were gonna go with Sean May. Thank god we didn't get his fatass.

as for Babcock/Villanueva, there are rumors circulating that Gerald Green told the Raps he would refuse to play for them. Could be a false rumor just to make him look bad and make the Raps look not so stupid. Toronto brass reportedly started a rumor that Granger had bad knees to make them look not so dumb for passing on him.

Well, Bickerstaff also mentioned he didn't pick Granger because he was concerned about a knee injury that may affect him long-term...

"Bickerstaff addressed several other personnel matters:

• According to Bickerstaff, the team never considered high school player Gerald Green for the 13th pick and had concerns about how a knee injury would affect New Mexico forward Danny Granger long-term."

He didn't want to play for Toronto....he didn't want to work out against other players....He's a punk. I still regret passing on Granger but his knee issues might affect him in the future and this just might have been the safest pick. Everyone laughs at the Raptors for taking Charlie at 7, but at the same time he was projected to go around 10 to the Lakers by a lot of people.

And thank god we didn't take him. Villanueva is talented but lazy. Another Derek Coleman waiting to happen. I think the reason people are giving the Raps a lot of shit is not only because they reached BIGTIME for guy like Charlie, but they also reached for a guy who plays a position where they A)drafted a guy in the lottery last year and B) have a stud in Bosh already in place. Its like a double wasted pick.

Now that I think of it, Charlie wasn't that bad of a pick. If Green didn't want to play in Toronto, it just would've been a headache (VC and T-Mac all over again). Granger...even though he may have bad knees, at this point I still wish the Cats took him at 13. But we'll see how Granger does. Considering who went after Charlie V (Diogu, Vasquez, Korolev, May, McCants, Wright, and Warrick [discounting Graham who was taken at 16 and Granger's knee and Green who reportedly did not want to play for Toronto]), only Wright wouldn't have seemed like a reach at 7.

edit:

paul.jpg

"If you look up the word "style" in the dictionary, you definitely won't see a picture of this guy. Bottom line, Chris Paul is just too good a ballplayer to get away with a suit this bad. It's not only ugly -- there's just way too much of it. Yikes."

felton.jpg

"Fellow ACC alum Chris Paul could take a lesson from Raymond Felton in how to pull off a pinstripe. Muted stripes, a great color, and you can tell it's quality material. Well done."

WOO at least Felton dresses better! Now let's hope he plays PG better, too!

The wheels are turning! People are starting to see the nicer side of uncle fester

(so that I'm not only posting CV3 stuff)

Guard Cuttino Mobley is an unrestricted free agent after terminating the final year of his contract, the Sacramento Kings said Thursday.

It should be an interesting offseason I think. Not the biggest ever but alright nonetheless. I've got a feeling Ray Allen will stay put, which won't be as interesting as a signing elsewhere, and that would leave Redd as the #1 guy.

The real reason everyone is bitching about all the picks past #4 is because the draft kinda sucked and with the exception two guys, no one has any chance of being a "star" player. "Oh no, Orlando didn't pick that 3 year college player whose never, ever gonna be a starter in the NBA....THE HUMMANITY!"....everyone (especially the media) needs to get over it. The only big fault was everyone passing on Green, who is one of those two guys with real potential.

so....is Ray Allen stayin in Seattle or what?? I want him in Chicago, por favor.

rofl

he'll be in a seattle uniform next year. i don't think the sonics would let the best shooting guard in the biz leave them.

The true test this offseason will be...

Who does Cuttino love more?

Yao or Steve?

Will Cuttino come back to Houston? Go back to Orlando? Demand weekends off to spend with his significant other? Is Jeff Van Gundy part of the Love Rectangle here?

After mulling it over for a few days, i'm not as angry at Toronto picking Black Kane as I was. If Granger didn't wanna play, there's no reason to draft his dumbass.

Still, we shoulda gotten May.... my Toronto/North Carolina roots mixed in a delicous blender...

Bah. Whatever. Hopefully someone'll make Vnova wear a Rip Hamilton mask. For the fans' sake.
