The agent for Minnesota free-agent swingman Latrell Sprewell said his client would welcome rejoining Marcus Camby, his former New York Knicks teammate. However, the Nuggets are not one of the three teams that have contacted Sprewell.
"His best friend is out there, Marcus Camby, and of course George Karl is out there, a great coach," agent Bob Gist said. "He always loves coaches he can learn from, like (Jeff) Van Gundy."
Although Sprewell played small forward for the Timberwolves, who are unlikely to pursue him, Gist said his client loves to play two-guard, his more likely position in Denver.

Instead, it just seems like Kobe is putting on his "outside the hotel room" facade again. Only Michael Jordan can get away with acting like a dry and boring role model while still having street cred!

Bryant is only getting better -- and that's scary.
A dedicated athlete stays in shape, even in the off-season. A superior one gets bigger and faster. Then there's Kobe Bryant, who incorporates world-class training methods into a six-hour, six-phase, six-days-a-week routine. That 6-6-6 may symbolize a hellish problem for the rest of the league.
Joe Carbone, Bryant's personal trainer, arrives for a two-hour workout in Kobe's personal gym as early as 7 a.m. Then it's down to the Lakers' training facility for box jumps -- jumping onto boxes of various heights -- medicine-ball throws, 30-yard sprints, acceleration drills and, of course, shooting drills. The weight training sessions alternate from high-rep to maximum-lift; in the latter Kobe now squats 400 and bench-presses 300. His shoulders and arms thickened so much over the summer that his head looks smaller.
"Whoa," said the Clippers' guard Corey Maggette after brushing against him in an exhibition. The bigger whoa: It's an eight-year program. And Kobe is only in Year Two. (R.B.)
bionic77 said:Good, now if we could just get Konex to drop Kobe and join the T-Mac or Lebron fan club everything would be just fine.

666 = Evil = Konex
It all makes sense!
...and no, Konex will NEVER become a T-Mac fan. We've come too far to let him screw it up, we have plans for the future!

"DM, you keep forgetting that you are not the only one who has plans for T-Mac. Starting next year we are going to give Konex a job in the Rockets front office and lengthen the first round to 9 games."
AUBURNDALE -- The gym at Auburndale High School will not be deserted as most weekends during the summer months, and it's for a very good reason. This weekend, Tracy McGrady and other NBA stars will be competing in The third annual What Does It Take To Be No. 1 Men's Indoor Streetball Event from Friday to Sunday. During the past two years of the tournament, McGrady has hosted and watched the action.
This year is different for the NBA All-Star.
McGrady will be particating along with NBA stars Jason Williams, Mike James, Chucky Atkins, and former Orlando Magic forward Drew Gooden.
"I felt like this (Polk County) is where it all started and I feel the kids would like to see what I do in person," said McGrady.
Tournament director Joseph Key said the event started because McGrady wanted to give back to the community.
"It's something that I wanted to do for my hometown," McGrady said.
Tracy McGrady Foundation CEO Johnnie Lawson said this year's goal was to raise about $25,000 to help the community.
"We are really looking to make people aware of the foundation," Lawson said.
The event has raised about $15,000 in the past two years for the charitable foundation.
Other celebrities will also be on hand to watch the event. Autographs may or may not be given, at each player's option.
The tournament will feature 16 teams that include street-ball players from around the country to play alongside the NBA stars on each team.
A $7,000 cash prize will go to the winner of the double-elimination tournament, with McGrady personally presenting the check.
The second-place team will also be awarded $3,000. The third-place team will be repaid its entry fee of $500.
The tournament will be hosted by the Tracy McGrady Foundation with help from the Auburndale Hoops, Inc.
McGrady and his foundation are also planning on unveiling a new school for Polk County, to be called the Tracy McGrady Career Opportunity Center.
The new school is formerly a training center in Bartow that needed help to remain open.
"It was brought to my attention and I didn't want the school to close," McGrady said.
Key said the school will be vocational-style and geared to help single parents in the community.
"I don't think people know how much this guy loves Polk County," said Key of McGrady.
As for the tournament, gates open at 4 p.m. Friday with the championship game to be played at 6 p.m. Sunday.

In other news, T-Mac does more charity while Kobe keeps thinking about himself.
What a man.
Incognito said:That's great, really. Next summer while Kobe is taking his team to the conference finals against the Sonics, T-Mac will have had two rounds off already to shower kids with attention!

LAS VEGAS -- Joe Johnson's camp was informed Saturday that the Phoenix Suns intend to match Atlanta's expected five-year, $70 million offer to the restricted free agent, according to NBA front-office sources.
Word began spreading Friday at the Vegas Summer League that the Hawks have given Johnson a firm commitment that they'll sign him to a maximum offer sheet on July 22, which the league office has scheduled to be the first day free agents can sign contracts.
The Hawks' offer, sources said, is likely to be front-loaded with a payment as high as $20 million in the first year of the deal. Rules on such payments and other specifics of the deal are also on hold until July 22, when the league announces the salary-cap number for next season.
