Well, of course, they'd sign Devin. That doesn't mean Finley will take only his minutes. Devin was a good option because he knows the system, he is a solid bench player and there weren't many other options out there.

Meanwhile, the Spurs have been looking for another player that can play some minutes at SF behind Bowen and Finley will be that guy. Manu and Barry will take care of the SG position.

Also, for the person that compared this to the Lakers "Reloaded". Just don't. This is a championship team that has only added to ther core three solid veterans(including Oberto as a veteran in Europe) to come off the bench and have only lost Devin. Who wasn't even able to contribute during he playoffs.

I'd like to welcome NVE and Finley to the Spurs family. Bat and myself hope you don't become a bust like Derek Anderson. Also, please don't harass Tony Parker. Thank you and enjoy your stay!

i agree. In fact, i think you should just find another team to root for, konex. Rooting for Kobe and the Lakers is a waste of time.

:lol !

His look is friggin' priceless for that pic.

At least the Spurs signed some interesting players like Van Exel and Finley.
Maybe I can watch them this year without falling asleep.

Did you also fell asleep when they were dropping 130 points every game against the "NBA saviors" Phoenix Suns? Because from that comment I'm guessing that's what you like. High scoring, flashy plays and everything else that defines the NBA casual fan.

Denver signs Watson. Mitch keeps pissing Kobe's prime away :(
konex, i agree with you to a certain extent but have you ever thought about Phillip running the show and mitch well... a mere puppet?

why does liking scoring make you a casual NBA fan? guess Don Nelson is a casual fan then.. Of the years of Riley in New York, the Pistons and the Spurs. I also have enjoyed wacthing teams that score more.. I have been watching the NBA since I was 6 that's for 22 years. I coach basketball, I have played basketball since I was 9. How do you come off telling someone that because your favorite team plays defense well that they don't make for boring games?

Liking offense doesn't make you a casual fan, but I think the inability to also appreciate teamwork and defense at any given time makes you one. Most casual fans only like games like the old Mavs-Kings games where no one defended shit and it was just a layup drill, but when teams like the Spurs and Pistons battle it out with their defensive minded systems, it's called boring, while it's something much more complicated and strategic than raining shots after 6 seconds on the shot clock with no one guarding you.

Any real basketball fan should appreciate the effort and ability that goes into playing high level/intensity defense. It's not just about putting it in the hole, it's also about stopping your opponent from doing it and it takes a lot of skill.

I appreciate art... but I still find galleries boring...

Well, if that's good enough for you... great.

I will still continue to prefer a combination of greatly executed D and O over something like what the Suns did last seasons, which was fun for about a quarter IMO.

His point was that the Spurs ran the most exciting team in the league off the floor with their own playbook.

Anyone who calls a Spurs squad that has Ginobili and Parker a boring team is frankly an idiot. They're probably the most versatile team in the last fifteen years.

And it's always amusing to me how people claim that the US basketball game has gotten worse because people do nothing but dunk, can't shoot, are too ego-driven and aren't willing to sacrifice to help the team, yet when two teams like the Spurs and Pistons exlempify the values that these critics allegedly preach, they say the contests are boring. :lol Sports critics are the most full of shit people in the world.

A shoe...gets people happy in this thread....

Wow...

I'm just gonna stop supporting the NBA, you guys have fun. I'll continue chipping in my $5 for ESPN but wow.

A shoe huh?

Man...a fucking shoe...

Well that would be the 1989/1990 Pistons, they just barely qualify for your 15 year limit.

Vinnie "The Microwave" Johnson was their third guard, and Dennis Rodman was their 8th/9th man. Rick Mahorn was their 10th man. The deepest team the NBA has ever seen, and easily the most versatile team in most fans' lifetime.

They had two HOF's at the starting guards, a potential HOF at SF (Mark Aguirre, more for his college career than his NBA), two SOLID F/C's (Bill Laimbeer and James Edwards), and a HOF on the bench plus the second best sixth man in history.

I'm not a Piston fan by any stretch, but damn that team was loaded.

edit---If you don't know who the two starting guards were, please just leave the thread. Joe Dumars may go down as the most underrated guard in NBA history. Dude could D up and score on anyone, and could easily handle the point in Isaiah's absence. Would he have been an all-star PG? I wouldn't bet against him if he had to do that in his career. Isaiah's dominance speaks for itself.

Only in a player's life.

Word has it that Stephen Jackson was set to be married last Saturday, but cancelled the wedding after his fianceé Imani Showalter refused to sign a prenuptial agreement.

"She was ready to walk the aisle and everything and he stopped it," our TPL spy said. "To make it worse, his family (including mom, aunt and cousins) cheered when the wedding director came out and said there was not going to be a wedding. He spent a nice penny on that too not to get married."

Stephon Marbury, Mike Bibby, Malik Rose and Steve Smith were all there to witness the non-nuptials.

Do NOT...I repeat DO NOT, base the actions of two silly Lakers fans (both probably shunned by the other somewhat levelheaded Lakers fans, as well as regular NBA fans), to base your judgement in this thread.

I bet I could find that shoe at a Garage sale for 4 bucks that came out in the 80s.

Oh please....This is like going to the gaming forum and wondering why some people get excited over games. Some people (like me) collect shoes of their favorite players. Well the good looking shoes at least :lol

And posting picks of new kicks is not too extreme for an NBA thread in the freakin' offseason. Take your ignorant "outrage" elsewhere :)

But...the shoe is ugly as sin and has a 99% profit margin?

You keep buying these shoes though, god knows Kobe needs a new set of wheels :)
