Where'd you get that from, Atlanta's offcial website (if so, what are they supposed to say? "Yeah, the guy we're paying truckloads of money sucked today")?

I got it from the local Atlanta newspaper website. Believe me when Vick messes up they call him on it. Example from Monday's practice:

OK, so Vick didn’t look sharp. He had some good passes, but lots of overthrows, underthrows and sideway throws. One didn’t have to watch the passes as much as listen to Vick’s verbal reaction to them. Quite a few, um, negative soundbites. His first interception came courtesy of DeAngelo Hall on one-on-one passing drills. On a six-on-seven drill, Price (!) bailed him out with a couple of nice digs out of the ground. On 11-on-11, he overthrew a wide-open Alge Crumpler on a rollout. The next play, Vick rolled out again. This time, he kept the ball himself and ripped off 30 yards. I’m just sayin.

Philly over Pittsburgh

Half right. I think this is finally going to be Philly's off year. I mean eventually it catches up to everyone and the Eagles are due for a bad season. I would actually love to see this Superbowl, but I think the Eagles are going to come slow out of the gates and just miss the playoffs. Then again, I predicted the same thing last year and they went to the Superbowl so hopefully they prove me wrong.

I am sure we all agree the Pats are not going to win a game until at least December. The so called "dynasty" ends this year and so does the Brady curse that has been put on a once great league.

Hey bionic, your boy Hines Ward seems to think he's the greatest player in Steelers history, and would be getting paid like it...BUT HE WANTS MORE!

Steelers | Ward Says No to Team's Extension Offer
Wed, 27 Jul 2005 21:23:31 -0700

Ed Bouchette, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, reports Pittsburgh Steelers WR Hines Ward has turned down an offer given to him by the team as a contract extension. The Steelers made Ward an offer that would make him the highest paid player in their history, a contract that may include their highest signing bonus, according to a source close to the negotiations, but so far he's said no to the offer. The deal would include a signing bonus higher than the $8.1 million QB Kordell Stewart received in 1999. No other contract details, including length and total, were provided.

That is because Hines is such a team player he wants to sign for less money.

Jesus, I can't believe we paid that much money to Kordellia. Worst fucking qb ever. God was punishing the Steeler fans with Kordell, but now he is rewarding us with the greatest thing since pre-HIV Magic Johnson to qb this team back to glory.

Since 2003 people started coming out of the woodwork predicting it would be phillys off year and the window was closed. If you remember some analyists predicted us to MISS THE PLAYOFFS. As long as we have Mcnabb and Reid running things we are at least a playoff team, much like the packers with Farve. Now can I can I ask what leads you to believe philly will have a down year, the team we feild at the start of the season will be better (on paper) than the one last year.

You guys are all insane. KC is coming out ontop of the AFC West this year. Sorry fellas.

Raiders defense is a joke. Oakland D is the new KC. Maybe with Moss around Kerry will only throw 25 ints instead of 50 this year.

As for the Denver Ponies. They will lose a must win game in Week 17 thanks to Jake. No Elway? No playoffs! Not all is bad though. Their cheating offensive line will make Clarette look like a god, and then they'll screw Washington in a trade during the offseason.

Chargers are the only comp in the division, and our rebuilt defense is going to make Marty wish he had retired!

I said patriots! >:O

Texans will get to the 2nd round though :D

Sorry, don't see that happening this year. You'll have a winning season, though, which must be almost as good as a Superbowl win for a Texans fan. :D

Rams win 10+ games and easily capture the nfc west. im quite confident in that.

moreover, the special teams will be greatly improved, and the offense will put up GSOT type numbers. The defense is still quite suspect, so i wont predict anything more.

also, seattle will finish below .500 and miss the playoffs.

AFC North is gonna rule this year. Baltimore/Pittsburgh is the rivalry I'm most looking forward to seeing other than Buffalo heading into Foxboro and blasting the shit out of the Patriots.

NFC West 2005 will be the NFC West of 2004, only with Arizona being more competitive. Seattle will drop balls, St Louis will miss tackles and lose games in confounding ways. I'm also on FMT's boys to take down the lambs at Candlestick this season, which will be one of St Louis' confounding losses.

AFC:
Colts
Steelers
Pats
Chiefs
--------
Ravens
Bills

NFC:
Panthers
Eagles
Vikings
Cardinals (believe!!!!!)
---------------
Falcons
Lions

The Lions and the Cards will make moves this year, as will Cinci who really are quite unfortunate to be sandwiched between the Ravens and Steelers.

I predict the KC defense to be just mediocre enough to carry the offense through to the division title. San Diego returns to being San Diego, Jake Plummer finally remembers just who he actually is. Oakland...well they're Oakland. Bring on the headlines. "Moss shits in Collins' helmet"

OVER UNDER

15 carries before Travis Henry fumbles
2 wins for San Fran
40 touchdown passes from Peyton
20 interceptions from Eli
8 wins for Houston
10 starts for Steve McNair
10 wins for Buffalo

It is just a hunch and a feeling that the Eagle are due to have a off season, basically no logical reason at all. :D

I feel that the Eagles are going to come out of the gates really slowly and give up some easy games at the beginning of the season. Almost every team starts really slowly the year after they lose in the Superbowl and I don't think it will be any different for the Eagles.

I would love to be wrong on this and see your prediction of a all PA Superbowl come true though. McNabb to me is currently the best qb going until White Jesus learns how to read a defense, then McNabb will be the second best. Even then, I always love watching McNabb player, somehow I think the guy is actually underrated. He reminds me of Elway in the way that he can somehow win games all by himself. I can't think anyone else who can do that. And sorry Falcon fans, but Vick isn't fit to hold McNabb's shoes (if he doesn't learn to read defenses and start becoming a pocket qb this year, I am going to consider him to be the second coming of Koredellia, of course new and improved though :D).

I think the AFC South will be a HELL of a division this year. Jags will get at least a Wildcard berth this year, the offense has taken enough steps forward to support our outstanding defense. But if Leftwich screws up this season, he HAS to be let go, you can't give him 4 years to develop on a franchise on the ropes economy-wise.

Patriots lose another linebacker:

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2118637

FOXBORO, Mass. -- New England linebacker Ted Johnson announced his retirement Thursday after a 10-year NFL career, saying he decided to retire rather than risk further injury following a series of concussions.

A member of three Super Bowl champion teams in New England, Johnson notified the team of his decision a day before veterans were scheduled to begin training camp.

His retirement further weakens the inside linebacker position. Tedy Bruschi, the other starter there, has said he will sit out this season after suffering a minor stroke last winter.

I kinda want to see that ho Bill Simmons bitch about being in Detroit then watch his Pats get destroyed by the Lions. Oh well.

Im pretty sure thats the same thing you said last year. Also alot of people thought the loss of Vincent and Taylor would destroy us, we all know how that worked out. I guess "you just came off a superbowl loss" is this years "your dbs suck". It feels to me like its more wishfull thinking than anything.

Ah, but "you just came off a superbowl loss" actually holds true! What, the last four teams missed the playoffs the next year (Rams, Pats, Raiders, Panthers), so there is a chance that you will lose too! And don't forgot this!:

The DBs suck and Owens is a distraction shit from last year actually held a little bit of water. Panthers were one and done, everyone expected that. They didnt deserve to be in the there in the first place. Fouling recievers and cheap shotting qbs is not how a team should win a trip to the superbowl. Raiders were getting old, Rams had their QB melt down and didnt the pats just win back to back superbowls?

You are STILL on that? Damn dude, it was like 2 years ago, let it go man.

I may or may not get laughed at for saying this, but I believe that this is the years my Colts FINALLY get past the goddamn Patriots (the only team in sports I hate more is the Pistons). Manning's going to continue to light it up, and the defense will be improved just enough to give the Colts home field advantage throughout the playoffs. The Colts playing on turf (even though I hate turf) is beautiful thing to watch.

Didn't you hear the news? Pats aren't even going to make the playoffs this year and Brady will finally be exposed for the evil fucker that we all know him to be. If the Pats somehow cheat their way to another playoff berth I have to agree with you. With no Bruschi or Ty Law to save the day I see the Pats losing badly to the Colts. I really wonder if all the same teams are going to be dominant again this year. Recent history suggests that they won't be as good this year as last which makes me worried for the Steelers because we have no way to go but down and I wonder if our defense is going to be half as dominant this year as last year.

This should be fun to watch...speaking as a Ravens fan.

Ward threatens to sit out season without contract extension

'I'm not asking to break the bank ... I just want compensated'
Friday, July 29, 2005

By Ed Bouchette, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Hines Ward, the Steelers' four-time Pro Bowl wide receiver, threw one of his famous downfield blocks on his own team yesterday when he proclaimed he will not report to training camp -- or show up at any point this season -- until he receives a contact extension.

Ward, who has one year left on a contract he signed in 2001, said he's prepared to sit out the entire season if there's no new contract.

"I just want my fair market value, that's all I can ask for," Ward said yesterday afternoon before an autograph appearance at the Sprint PCS Store at the Waterfront complex in Homestead. "I'm not asking to break the bank or anything. I just want compensated."

He then made comments to the media on hand that were directed to the Steelers and referred to president Art Rooney's 2004 promise to make him a priority in contract discussions this year.

"Last year, you told me to wait, which is understandable; I had two years left on my deal and I went about it. I reported to everything you wanted me to do; I've done everything you asked me to do.

"You said you want to make me first priority, now here it is a couple days from training camp and we're still negotiating. But I think everything will work out; there's nothing personal, it's a business."

The Post-Gazette reported yesterday the Steelers' offer would make Ward the highest-paid player in their history. Ward said his main aim is to receive as much guaranteed money as he can because in the NFL, players can be released with years left on their contract and the club is not obligated to pay any of it.

The Steelers' offer includes more than $8 million in a signing bonus and might be closer to $9 million. Many receivers over the past five years have received signing bonuses of more than $10 million, but many washed out after signing those contracts. Most notable among the failures was Joey Galloway, who received a $12.5 million signing bonus from the Cowboys in 2000, even though he never made a Pro Bowl. Ward might have in mind the kind of deal that Muhsin Muhammad received this year from the Chicago Bears. Muhammad, 32, received a $12 million bonus.

Ward has one year at $1,668,750 remaining on his deal. If he holds out, the Steelers could play tough and demand he repay them $500,000, the one-year prorated portion of his signing bonus, and fine him $6,000 daily.

Ward said if there is no contract extension, "I won't be there" at training camp in Latrobe. He said he will stay out "as long as it takes."

Damn I would hate to see Ward go. I didn't care when we got rid of Plax because he is never going to be a big time reciever and he never comes up with a catch in the playoffs either, but Hines has been the backbone of our receiving corps for forever. On the other hand, I think almost every team has been burned by giving too much money to high profile wide receivers, so I don't want us to overpay.

Lucky I will remember your words when the Ravens see Big Ben, Act II this season. :D

SAINTS SIGN RB DEUCE McALLISTER TO SEVEN-YEAR CONTRACT EXTENSION
July 28, 2005, New Orleans Saints
Jul 28, 2005 – 5:53 pm

Click here to listen to Deuce McAllister and GM Mickey Loomis' press conference in its entirety (RealOne Player required).

In a move that secures the long-term services of one of the NFL's most productive rushers, the New Orleans Saints have signed RB Deuce McAllister to a seven-year contract extension, it was announced today by Executive Vice-President/General Manager Mickey Loomis. McAllister has one year remaining on the six-year deal he signed as a rookie in 2001, and the new contract extends through 2012.

McAllister has been one of the NFL's top performers since taking over as the starter in 2002 and is the lone player in team history to post three-straight 1,000 yard seasons (2002-04). He ranks second in club record books with 4,194 rushing yards and 31 rushing touchdowns and holds the team mark by having reached the 100-yard milestone in 22 games. Since the opener in 2002, McAllister has recorded 5,199 yards from scrimmage (4,103 rushing, 1,096 receiving), scored 35 touchdowns and was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2002 and 2003. He was voted an alternate to the postseason all-star game last season.

"Getting Deuce the contract extension he deserves was a top priority before training camp started," said Loomis. "We wanted to make this commitment to him, because he's one of our team leaders and one of our most valuable players. With his future secured, Deuce can move forward and have another productive season."

In 2004, McAllister started all 14 games he appeared -- missing two contests with an ankle injury -- and had 1,074 yards rushing with nine touchdowns and added 34 receptions for 228 yards. It was a solid encore to 2003, when he turned in perhaps the greatest all-around season for an offensive player in team history with 1,641 yards rushing and 516 receiving yards on 69 grabs. He also became the only Saints player to post over 2,000 yards from scrimmage and rushed for over 100 yards in a club-record nine-straight contests. In 2002, McAllister led the NFC with 1,388 yards on 325 attempts, hauled in 47 passes for 352 yards and scored 16 touchdowns.

Good, I was really worried he would have a good season and we would not beable to resign him....

ESPN.com's John Clayton reports that McAllister's new deal is eight years, $50.1 million, including $12.5 million in signing and option bonuses. The contract includes $3.1 million in escalators that McAllister can achieve in the third year based on performance to push the total to $53.2 million.

The deal was announced a half-hour before the Saints' first mandatory meeting of training camp. Saints officials did not say how much McAllister would be paid, but McAllister had said earlier that he expected it to be the second-largest contract awarded to an NFL running back, also making him the highest paid player in franchise history.

FOXBORO, Mass. -- Three-time Pro Bowl defensive end Richard Seymour was not on the field for the opening practice of New England's training camp on Friday, starting what could be a lengthy holdout.

It's all coming to an end Pats! Now we just have to wait for the inevitable Tom Brady arrest for various murders and the downfall will be complete!

BREAKING: Philly DE Jerome McDougle shot in an attempted carjacking.

Talk about an unlucky guy. In and out his first 2 years and now this. I wonder if next years football games will include the gunshot wound as a possible injury.

Ward is one of the few people I'd side with on a holdout situation(Javon Walker being another, even though his agent is an ass. Walker's playing on a shitty rookie contract still, and deserves an extension). The Steelers have said for two years that he's the top priority and that he'd get a long term contract this offseason. Well the offseason is just about over and the Steelers don't negotiate during the season, so they've just been full of shit. He's a top 5-6 receiver in the league, and he deserves a good deal.

This is the same article he wrote 100 times last year. He was another one that predicted us to miss the playoffs after we got TO.

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Rookie running back Carnell "Cadillac" Williams made good on a promise to get into training camp for Tampa Bay's first practice, signing a multiyear contract Friday with the Buccaneers.

Suck it down FMT! Your team tried to screw us up by signing Alex Smith so late, but it didnt work!

Even though your QB and Receiver situation is still as bad as last year, or worse. :(

What the Hell is Gibbs thinking... Gotta sign some new talent for the air game. Portis better run his ass off this year!

Depends whether the new offensive scheme actually stands up to the real world, how healthy Fred Taylor is, how the OL works out, and what happens at that weak looking second CB spot. And possibly to a lesser extent whether Matt Jones turns out to be the thinking man's Ernest Wilford, which is the role I see for him this year.

But yes, the AFC South is going to hurt. Jags and Texans on the rise, Colts still near their peak.

Is this accurate at all or just more lies from Skip Bayless?

Heading into 2003, the 49ers were a consensus playoff team. Management considered them Super Bowl-caliber. Owens had other ideas.

In game after crucial game, Owens dropped pass after random pass. Management couldn't be sure if this was premeditated from game to game or if Owens had just generally quit on the team. But it was as shameful a season-long display as I've witnessed -- and it was shocking that it didn't make more national news.

it would be pretty easy for me to talk shit on owens now...

so im going to do it. i'm not saying he completely tanked it, but i swear to god he cost us ballgames that season because he could not catch deep passes. plays against the seahawks, browns and cardinals all cost us ballgames.

also in our game in philly, he dogged it with a "dislocated shoulder" which was complete bullshit. he would later go on to say that he could have feasibly played, but being that it was a "contract year" he didn't want to jeopardize his impending free agency.

i hate skip bayless more than any other writer out there, but he is absolutely right in this sense. owens was unreliable and rookie-ish in his final year with us
