Damn dude, luckily for you you won't have to face the Giants this year again. If it was Eli's second or third game, he'd have punked the hell out of your D. Instead you barely beat us!

Sucks you have to face mah boys from Buffalo though!! :lol!

You say this as if Eli's the only person in the league who has improved this year. Our D and offense will be improved over last year's. Believe it!

Yeah, baby! Bears have the support of John Clayton as the up and coming team in the NFC to look out for in 2005! Suck it down Wellie Koy Detmer 2.0 and your New York Giants lose!!!

In a real shocker- Coming back from Practice yesteday, and John Clayton was on the radio, talking about football, and was asked
"Which NFC team, will surprise in 2005? and be a team like san deigo last year to go from a bad record to playoff's?"

Answer:
The chicago bears!

He went on to say alot depends on Grossman, but what he saw last year before the injuries and what he saw in camp so far, leads him to beleive the bears will be the Surprise team in 2005. He thinks the "D" is already there, and if Grossman can jsut manage to mvoe the ball, and give the "D" a rest, the bears will be a very tough team in 2005, and the addition of Mushin will greatly Help Rex and the "O" become a much better Unit. He likes Turner's scheme and think Grossman a great fit for scheme- and the bears are going to surprise alot of people in 2005.

ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?!?!? I can't wait! Until week 6 when the Bears are 0-6!

Stating simple facts is not me spinning the truth. Eagles were #1 in yards allowed per catch in the NFL. I dont care what Warner did in the game 1 blowout. I guess me saying all along Owens would be in camp was spinning too.

:lol Maybe Harrington should have at least one season under his belt where he doesn't completely suck ass before we suggest that the Lions will have a better offense than the Colts.

Harrington has been steadily improving since his debut in the NFL. I just don't understand the hate for this guy. I went to Michigan mid June to visit family and everyone there hates him with a passion. He will get better. I'm shocked at how my fellow Lions fans have treated this guy.

And I mean shit I could throw for 3,000 yards and 30 TD's if I had recievers like Roy Williams, Mike Williams and Charles Rogers. :D

I hope the guy does great I just have no faith in him. People in Detroit/MI just don't care for "fake" high society athletes, they never cared for Grant Hill either. Besides I think there are two sides on Joey for us Lions fans.

1. Those who expect him to fail, and are glad when he does. Bring on the backup.
2. Those who expect him to fail, but are dissapointed when he does and wants him to succeed.

I think they'll be alright this year.

I get that Simon didn't report to camp, because I haven't heard that he signed the franchise tender, but did anybody in Eagleland expect Westbrook to not show up? I just saw it scroll on ESPN News that he didn't.

i think it was well known that westbrook would hold out. bottom line is the eagles underpay their players, and its going to haunt them sooner or later. you can talk all you want about smart cap spending and so on, but when you are trying to pay a guy like westbrook freaking $655,000 a year that is god damn ridiculous.

I heard plenty about Westbrook being a likely holdout, and like FMT says, he actually has some grounds for holding out

I'm reading up on it, and according to an ESPN article, Westbrook signed a one year contract two months ago.

Just like TO, except to an even larger degree, Westbrook can go fuck himself.

Pro Bowl running back Brian Westbrook didn't show up, even though he said earlier this summer he wasn't going to hold out. Westbrook signed a one-year, $1.43 million contract in June but wants a long-term deal.

"We've been very aggressive in trying to secure a long-term contract for Brian. We had thought we were making good progress in that regard. Unfortunately, Brian made a counterproductive and almost unprecedented decision to not report to training camp," the Eagles said in a statement.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2122096

Just for the record, Mike Williams was given a bigger signing bonus than the Steelers offered Hines Ward. Rookie Mike Williams, Mike Williams who hasn't played in two years, Mike Williams who was overrated to begin with, Mike Williams who will be the third receiver on the Lions depth chart, got a better contract than 4 time pro bowler and offensive leader of the Steelers Hines Ward was offered.

Once again...fuck.

Westbrook was there for the minicamp where he talked all this stuff about how he was a team player and wasnt going to hold out but did want a long term contract. He also joined Mcnabbs little training thing in arizona. I dont think anyone expected him to miss training camp. Everyone knew Simon was holding out, nobody cares.

This is from profootballtalk on westbrook but that site isnt exactly credible.

Per a little-known league rule, if Westbrook stays out past August 8, he will forfeit the ability to become an unrestricted free agent in 2006. Players under contract who fail to report within 30 days prior to the commencement of the regular season lose a year of service credit.

See you on the 8th, Westy. It was a nice symbolic effort on you part. Now, get your #$% to camp.
*

-- Westbrook is the first restricted FA in NFL history to sign his 1-year tender then not show up for camp

I would be shocked if he missed any regular season games. I think hes just freaked out that we drafted his clone in Moats and he wants a contract now.

Nobody else wanted him bad enough. We are paying market value. To be fair, Westbrook is probably the 2nd most valuable player on our team under Mcnabb and he should probably get paid. At least TO is back. :)

FOXSports.com has learned that Seymour and the Patriots have reached a deal that will end the defensive lineman's holdout. Under his previous deal, Seymour was scheduled to make about $2.8 million this year, less than half of the average of the NFL's top five defensive tackles and about one-third of what the game's top defensive ends make. The two sides haven't reached a long-term deal, but they will work on that this year.

The upcoming number one Chicago Bears defense is getting tougher and tougher with every practice. Bears offense will clock too. Gonna win a lot of games this year! I'm glad it seems like the rest of the NFL is underestimating the Bears again! We'll sneak up and punch a lot of teams in the mouth this year! :)

Benson, watch out! You're starting to piss off Lovie!

http://www.chicagobears.com/news/newsDetail.jsp?id=9452

GET YOUR ASS IN CAMP. Ughhhh get the deal done.

Lovie has been much more direct in his comments this year. I think I'm liking this new tougher Lovie. :D

da bears get to test that defense right away in the first preseason game against us. i like the bears as a sleeper pick too

Mike Williams will become one of the best recievers in the league. He was amazing at USC and the Lions getting him at #10 was a steal.

Please he is gonna be lucky to lead his own division in rushing.
Cedric Benson has bust written all over him.
The Vikings squad are either toking up or crying about some injury.
The Packers are so fukken turned aroun, if the Walker situation isn't resolved soon Green is gonna got decapitated by week 7.

Kevin Jones is gonna bust a nut all over the Vikes and everyone else. Deal with it.

Ravens vs. Lions in the Super Bowl... Represent DEEEEETROIT FOOOOTBALL!! And Ray Lewis is going to start killing people on the field this season I think, so I'm not sure teams will have players left come end of the season... he's one scary mo fo

Oh and by the way, the Eagles front office is anything but cheap.

http://asp.usatoday.com/sports/football/nfl/salaries/totalpayroll.aspx?year=2004
Team Total Payroll
Washington Redskins $ 117,962,286
Philadelphia Eagles $ 104,977,331
Houston Texans $ 97,473,626
Detroit Lions $ 94,578,628
Seattle Seahawks $ 94,006,282

Edit: That site has all kinds of usefull numbers. According to that Owens is #2 in total salary under Marvin Harrison. I have no idea what it means but it doesnt seem like hes getting underpaid.

The Eagles first drew the wrath of Westbrook in February when they placed the middle tender of $1.43 million on him, instead of the highest tender of $1.9 million. The lower tender guaranteed the team a first-round draft pick if another team signed him to an offer sheet during the restricted free agency period. The higher tender would have given the team first- and third-round draft picks.

No team made Westbrook an offer, and his rights returned to the Eagles in mid-April.

Damn it Azumah needs to see a specialist as he may have a problem with his hip....

Also, look at the cover of the new SI.

his contract is backloaded (i.e. the eagles can/will cut him before they ever have to pay him top money)

Merril Hodge is a complete and total douchebag. I think the Eagles were like 4-0 and he posted an article saying they would still miss the playoffs :lol

Now that fucker was just a hater. Star & Buckwild would be proud.

The Eagles and Westbrook's agent, Fletcher Smith, were involved in talks about a contract extension as recently as Sunday, but the running back was dissatisfied with the offer the team had on the table.

According to one league source, the Eagles' offer included guaranteed money between $8 million and $10 million. The Eagles do not believe that Westbrook was advised to hold out of training camp by his agent.

Eagles president Joe Banner said today that Smith flew from Chicago to Washington, D.C., to talk with Westbrook and the running back's family about his situation. Neither Smith nor Westbrook returned phone calls today, and the Eagles had not heard from the agent or the running back as of late last night.

"It's my understanding that they are discussing with each other what their position is from this point going forward," Banner said. "I know no more than that on the subject. I have not heard from [Smith] since an update I received this morning."

Some light on Brian Westbook's holdout. Maybe they weren't low balling him.

Thats not something the eagles have a history of doing. Runyans contract was backloaded, hes still around. Same thing with Taylor and Vincent, they both played through the whole thing. A few other player also fell under that category, cant think of them now . The eagles FO just gets a bad rep because they dont overpay their veterans once the contract is up. Hugh Douglas is awesome btw.

Today, Owens wasn't the only player looking for a new deal. While stretching after practice, Douglas asked for one.

"Where's Joe [Banner]?" Douglas said to no one in particular. "I want to renegotiate for a package of Milk Duds and a box of crackers. And if I don't get it, I'm leaving camp."

Which Led to this....

Eagles | Owens Brushes off Douglas
Tue, 2 Aug 2005 20:01:10 -0700

Ashley Fox, of the Philadelphia Inquirer, reports Philadelphia Eagles WR Terrell Owens was kneeling away from the fray, quiet and alone at practice Tuesday, August 2, when DE Hugh Douglas approached him. Douglas essentially extended his hand to Owens. Owens hardly looked at Douglas as he got up and walked away, leaving the brushed-off Douglas less than happy. "I was just trying to be nice," Douglas said later, after LB Jeremiah Trotter calmed him down, told him to give Owens some time, and promised to talk to the disgruntled wide receiver. "He's in a situation where he's trying to get something done, so he's probably a little upset.

Any Eagles fans going up to Lehigh tomarrow? Im gonna be there to cheer on T.O and tell him not to play his hardest, and be an asshole to everyone.

In other words. Fuck.The.Eagles.

I don't think TO needs you to tell him to be an asshole to everyone. He's been mastering that skill for years.

In other words. Fuck.The.Eagles.

Your hatred only makes us stronger!!

I think it all started with this btw.

"He's a great receiver, a hell of a receiver, no question about it," Douglas said. "But no one man is bigger than the game. No one man is bigger than the game. We were winning before he got here and we made it to the Super Bowl without him.

"He's a great player and we're a better team with him, but let's be real here. Teams survive without great players all the time. It's like the song (by Goodie Mob) says, 'One monkey don't stop no show.' That's just the truth."

why do people suck brian westrbrooks dick so much? hes a nice player and all from what ive seen, but people comparing him to marshall faulk makes me :lol

hes just a slightly-better-than-average running back with good hands.

I just heard on the radio today that Matt Millen received a 5 year extension. What is wrong with Detroit?!?! :lol

Passing Defense stats:
http://www.nfl.com/stats/teamsort/NFL/DEF-RECEIVING/2004/regular?sort_col_1=6

Congradulations that the Eagles allows 7.5 yards per catch but the real fact is that the Eagles passing defense is not that great when you allow 334 catches for a total 3475 yards.

Defensive Back stats:
http://www.nfl.com/stats/playersort/NFL/DB-TACKLES/2004/regular

Again the defensive backs for the Eagles are average at best but nothing to get excited about.

:lol :lol

I love how statistics can be taken out of context. At one point early in the season the Vikings were close to the best in the league in rushing yards allowed per game. That might be impressive if teams weren't putting up 350 yards a game through the air against us! Teams had no reason to run when they could score at will against our secondary.

The Legend of Paul Bunyan is off to a good start.

Matt Jones has been practicing finally(short holdout for the contract) and is showing off amazing hands. I really want this kid to succeed, just having a credible receiver opposite Jimmy and Leftwich should be able to really start shining.

I miss McCardell and Smith together:/

Besides if they miss the playoffs he's gone.

I will truly relish reminding all you non-believers about how high Eli's QB rating is from week to week. He's supposed to have grown a beard but I can't find any pics.

Billick is getting pretty pissed at Ravens first-round holdout Mark Clayton:

"For a rookie not to be here under the present circumstances shows a complete lack of understanding of what it takes to compete in this league," Billick said.

Clayton's absence from camp is working in Clarence Moore's favor. Moore will likely be the starting wide receiver opposite Derrick Mason.

"Clarence Moore had an outstanding offseason and it's going to take a lot to displace Clarence from that position. It's certainly not going to happen from somebody who's not even here," Billick said. "He's worked very hard. Clarence wanted to be here, he wanted to show he's the starter. That's exactly what he is and that's what being here in camp does for you."
