Driving home tonight

a simple thought occurred to me.

We won't make the playoffs.

And suddenly, that idea was okay to me.

I shut my laptop up as soon as that Swisher homer hit the foul pole. This M's team is awful, and while it was nice to have the illusion for awhile that we had a shot at the playoffs the truth is we don't.

-The team doesn't trust the second and third best guys in the bullpen to work the 8th. Instead trusting the shit tastic Reitsma. Sure would be nice to have a guy they did trust... oh wait we traded him to Atlolnta for shit.

-Our DH hasn't hit a home run since May. MAY.

-Our starting LFer has the range of a ****ing corpse. He also hits like one. He's our #3 hole hitter.

-Have I mentioned we have the best positional prospect in baseball rotting in Tacoma as well?

-Our starting 1B is more worthless than the sacks of crap the Yankees are running out there. And that is saying something.

-We have no Ace right now, and really no one who is better than a 2/3. We have like three #5 starters in our rotation.

-Our defensive wizz SS forgot how to throw the ball this year. He also thinks he's Willie Mays Hayes trying to hit home runs every time up (and then popping out instead).

-Do we even have a second baseman?

At least Beltre is hitting again. Too bad he's the only one in the lineup who is right now.

Finally Moises Alou is back.

In another move, the Mets brought up reliever Jon Adkins from Triple-A New Orleans. Adkins, obtained in a trade with San Diego last winter, was 1-3 with a 3.83 earned run average in 28 games at New Orleans.

The Mets are expected to recall pitcher Mike Pelfrey from New Orleans to start one game in Saturday's day-night doubleheader against Washington and will have to make another move at that time.
Adkins and Pelfrey? Interesting that the Mets are bringing these guys up. I smell a trade showcase.

I'm still hopeful. It's not like the Angels are that much better. It's not like the M's were getting destroyed during the losing streak. They were competing in most and had chances to win. Right now, I see they have a couple glaring problems...

Ibanez is hitting like poop.
Starting rotation is ridiculously inconsistent.
Ichiro is starting to slow down.
Errors have been rampant for a team that's supposed to have a strong defensive team... outside of the corner outfields.

Still I think they can start playing good ball again, like they did tonight. Seriously, they lost 7 in a row before tonight and were still only 4 out. They have a good chance to make the playoffs.

I still can't believe the Braves are seriously considering trading Salty to rent Teixeira for the rest of the season.

He's under contract through 2008. So it would be a one season + 2 month rental... I'm not too keen on it either. At this point, we need *sigh* bullpen help. Or we could just wait two weeks and then the bullpen will be working but something else will be broken. That's just the kind of season we're having- of our hitting, starting pitching and bullpen, all three have worked at optimum efficiency for like three games.

Well, he has the highest OPS in the league, the highest slugging, has stolen a few bases, I don't know what more you want from him. I mean yeah A-Rod is probably better, but Braun has been playing very close to as well as him. Dude needs to get more recognition.

Braun is amazing.

His splits vs RH pitching - .500 avg, .560 obp, 1.109 SLG!, 1.669 OPS - 10 HRs in 64 ABs

Overall he is hitting just .348 with a 1.059 OPS and 17 homers, not bad for a rookie.

ala Chicago Tribune...

Dye, Garland shine in Sox victory
Most marketable players stand out

By Dave van Dyck
Tribune staff reporter

July 27, 2007, 10:07 PM CDT

Jon Garland and Jermaine Dye gave potential suitors a good showing Friday night in the White Sox's 4-3 victory over Toronto.

In what may have been his last White Sox start, Garland lasted 7 1/3 innings and allowed three runs. Dye contributed three hits and an RBI.

Among the scouts in attendance was one from the Mets, who have interest in Garland.

Meanwhile, a deal that could have sent Dye to Boston apparently fell through Friday when the sides could not agree on the players coming back, although one source said Dye did not want to be traded there.

The Angels could have interest in Dye but apparently have been told to forget about first baseman Paul Konerko, who received a rare day off Friday and may get another one Sunday.

The Sox are shopping starter Jose Contreras but are finding there's more interest in Garland. But Sox general manager Ken Williams is asking for top players in return before Tuesday's 3 p.m. trading deadline.

Asked Friday, after trading Tadahito Iguchi to Philadelphia, if he would make more moves. Williams replied:

"I don't know. We've put our feelers out, and we've been very aggressive in some of the targeted players we've been after. Obviously, because we have not made any deals up until [Friday], those requests have been rebuffed.

"At this point, we are in the position of sitting back, waiting as the weekend progresses and then we'll see what's offered our way. But the one thing you can't do, you can't make a trade all by yourself. You need another interested party."

So Garland, Dye and other Sox players will have to wait to learn their fate.
...
Mets and Garland? Pelfrey showcased tonight!

EDIT:
New York optioned infielder Anderson Hernandez to Triple-A New Orleans after the game and recalled right-hander Mike Pelfrey, who is scheduled to start the second game. Right-hander Joel Hanrahan is expected make his major league debut for the Nationals.
So this dude is making his ML debut huh? C'mon Mets, ruin this kids first start like Lincecum and DeSalvo (or whomever the guy's name was).

Rays get Dan Wheeler

Astros get Ty Wiggington

Detroit getting robbed by the Ump and the cheating fans reaching over.

Damn it, Atlanta!

That wh0re!!! :lol Yeah right, She's a hardcore Dodger fan.
Yeah, they mentioned she's there for some event for her clothing line, but she stayed for both games of the doubleheader anyway.

Still, though, she got so much hotter to me when I found out she was a hardcore baseball fan. I'm alright with the Dodgers, too, so that wouldn't be an issue.
