What a game! They are still struggling to get that big base hit with RISP but Gonezo and Nomore came through tonight. Chavez Ravine was pumping and jumping even more than the previous game, Can't wait till todays game. Another quality start by a Dodger starter, Lurch really stepped up. Pierre with a awesome catch and Pierre/Furcal got it going too. I had my blow up syringes working tonight too.

Not even the Laker Girls are immune from a good booing by the Dodgers crowd at a Giants game. I can just imagine what would happen if that asswipe Kobe decided to show up to a game. :lol

Mine looked exactly like this one:

he's REALLY lucky the yankees are on a tear right now and aren't losing. if they were losing and he's going 0-20...yeesh.

and i'll give someone $20 to steal giambi's orthotics or something...just make sure he doesn't come back! :D

"breaking": YES network is up for sale according to forbes. they expect the network to sell for $3-3.5 billion dollars.

the forbes writer also said he believes this is the first step of POSSIBLY the steinbrenner's selling the yankees after george passes.

The Dismantling of the Yankee Empire

not good. not good.

and how the hell is the YES network worth more than the yankees itself. jesus :lol

there remains speculation among the Yankees limited partners and other baseball insiders that Hal is simply echoing the wishes of an ailing father - that the Steinbrenners do not intend on keeping the team long term. The topic of a sale "comes up all the time" in conversations with the other partners, says Yanks minority owner Edward Rosenthal, a retired steel executive. Adds another Yankees limited partner: "If I were handicapping it, I think we're looking at a sale of the team within three or four years."

If somebody else takes control of the Yankees, the Yankees are ****ed. They'll be like all the other teams, needing to stay between profitability for the owner and quality for the fans...and the fans ALWAYS lose that battle. At least Steinbrenner always spared no expense to ensure the team was always competitive. Can't be sure about other guys :-(

i always figured hal steinbrenner would just continue his father's legacy and essentially be george 2.0 but apparently he wants to make his own mark and as the writer of the article points out, he won't be doing that from the owners box of yankee stadium.

either way the team won't be the same after george passes that's for sure.

That won't be the case unless the yankees are sold to a corporation. Then it becomes about the bottom line. Individual owners are more likely to try to win, instead of turn a profit.

I sure hope so.
George Steinbrenner valued winning more than making money (likely because winning made money anyway). He valued winning more than anything else - sometimes even over logical routes to future winning, like player development.

Warts and all, Steinbrenner made damn sure each and every year that the Yankees had what they needed to win, no matter what it cost. And even if he couldn't get the best, you knew he definitely tried his hardest to get it. Other guys...will they be that passionate about winning? **** profitability; the Yankees will always be profitable. But the history of the Yankees is about winning, about playing good baseball, about being a good team. If anything is placed above that, we're doomed.

Very good for the league........bad for the Yanks.

Anyone else see that gigantic karma wave gathering off the coast of Yankee Stadium?

Yanks 2 games back from the Wild Card. Indians yearly collapse in progress.

Boy Frankman, I hope you guys did not get to make that bet.

This looks like a good game for Slappy's 500th. That way the papers can shit on him tomorrow for not hitting 10 homers and getting the Yankees a win.

Clolmens.

If their shit TV station is going for billions odds are the team will cost more than the majority of the super duper rich individuals that want to own a sports team can afford (without saddling the team with debt).

Honestly I think the Yankees might have trouble being Sold if that were to become a possability. Their market value is just insane. Were moving into People Like Bill Gates territory money wise

Haha Eminem has to be crying on the inside right now.

See his team put up an 8 spot in the second to take an 8-0 lead, only to give the whole thing up in the bottom half!

Partnerships exist for that. They'd have no problem being sold. The revenue possibilities are just huge.
