So, Glavine made #300, Bonds is on the cusp of #756 (ugh), A-Rod made #500, Big Hurt made #500, Sosa made #600, and dudes like Manram and Thome are extremely close to #500 as well and could make it this year.

Is this possibly the record breaking-est season ever?
Griffey should make 600, too.

You know, it's funny. But for the life of me, I don't see a Mets World Series Championship in the past, oh, 20 years or so.
Hey, I'm not the one talking about "the best rotation in baseball."

siamesedreamer said:
Yes.......if only every team could get to play 15 out of 26 games against TB and KC.

Right. Because the Yankees never played and beat good teams this season - in either league. And nobody else got to play lots of games against shitty teams. Okay.

Man, we keep winning and the taste of tears will be so delicious.

Are you stupid?
No, perhaps I should type more clearly so you can more easily understand, though.

Obviously, having the best rotation in baseball for a decade did not help you win more championships. You can brag about them all you want, but in the end, it didn't do anything for you.

Also, I <3 <3 <3 Yankee day games. LET'S GO DANDY ANDY.

Damn, Cards have scored 8 runs on 8 straight hits so far this inning and there's still no outs.

EDIT - This is getting hilarious.

Your current hot streak has coincided with a run against extremely shit teams. Let's see how your precious Lolkees do once they start playing real teams again.

Like I said before the All-Star break, the Yankees REAL test happens between Aug 10-30th. 21 straight games against playoff calibur teams (and Baltimore a team they have had problems with).

Well, at least they're doing what they should be. Which is not something they were earlier in the year. I can't get on them for sweeping teams they need to sweep.

Yep.

Fair enough. So the rest of this month is the test, then. We'll see what happens.

Let's go to war, boys!

Oh no doubt. They've done exactly what they needed to do during this stretch against bad teams. Let's see if they can keep it up.

Mr.Bob cries tonight.

Nook Logan can fly.....

My buddy played JuCo with him in Mississippi. He ran a 6.2 second 60 yard dash for a scout one afternoon. He said Nook was the fastest guy he ever timed.

Too bad Detroit tried to make him a switch hitter. That really screwed up his development.

joba chamberlain in the bullpen....TONIGHT!

edwar ramirez will join him later in the week...

yankees unlikely to trade farnsworth :(

Don't trade him. DFA him.

Trading farnsworth to another team will cause another 50 years of Yankee hatred among that team's fanbase. And most people were just beginning to forget about us and hate barry exclusively!

Game 1: Carlyle vs. Perez
Game 2: Smoltz vs. Lawrence
Game 3: Hudson vs. Hernandez

Total number of runs to be scored this series=7.
And 5 of them will be against this Buddy guy tonight.

Edit: On second look, this is different than the schedule that Im seeing in the newspaper today. Newsday has El Duque for Game 2 and Maine for Game 3. I hope Newsday is right because thats much better for the Mets.

I thought I read somewhere that Maine was pitching game 3, I would have liked to see that duel.

edit: oh nvm ^ i should read other people's posts.

Didn't do ANYTHING? I don't know... I'm looking back at the 90's, and every year the division was won, we won it. We went to half of the World Series played that decade and yes, we won one of them.

All of which, if I'm remembering correctly, are much, much more than "not doing anything". Or less than that, which is what the Mets did in the same time frame.

What was that? Were you gonna say something? How about a friendly avatar wager on the outcome of this series? Oliver Perez can only pitch once for you guys. What do you say, Metkee?

And TA, of COURSE it still counts. Beating the Braves still counted for the Twins, Jays and Yanks (twice, ugh).

Kuroyume said:
I don't know about an avatar bet. I think I'm 0 and 2 with you. :lol
Wait until you get to account bets :lol.

C'mon man, it's August. This is what us Mets fans waited for. Yeah Beltran is out but they're playing well and have Ollie pitching Game 1.

New York Times - Talk among some baseball executives the past week was that the Braves’ new owner, John Malone of Liberty Media, has told his new employees to spend money to improve the chances of making the playoffs. Liberty Media, it was said, wants to be a big player — like the Red Sox.

Make sure Frankman gets a particularly embarrassing avatar. Like say, a Chinese kimono or something.
Frankman will be getting something truly horrifying. I'm working on it as we speak.
