God, I can't believe it's come down to the final game of the season. I'm not sure if it's a good or bad thing that I'll be home to watch it.

Okay, I was downtown today all day so I see that the Mets did well without me.

What's the rule on playoff game/tiebreak?

Colorado's still alive, too.

THE METS ARE GOING TO WIN TOMORROW
I hate you.

Okay, I don't understand the playoff game rules.

In 2005, when the Yankees clinched, they clinched because there would be no problem in the event of a tie with the Sox because they had the better season record.

Is that only because only one team could make the playoffs?

In Easy to read (and hopefully correct) form...
Code:
[!] COL is contingent on winning today.
# SDG COL NYM PHI | RESULT
1 W * W W | COL out. San Diego wins NLWC, Playoff NLE (NYM @ PHI)
2 W * W L | COL out. San Diego wins NLWC, Mets win NLE
3 W * L W | COL out. San Diego wins NLWC, Phillies win NLE
4 W * L L | COL out. San Diego wins NLWC, Playoff NLE (NYM @ PHI)
5  L   W   W   W  | 4-way tie!! First, Playoff NLE (NYM @ PHI). Winner wins NLE. Loser -> **
6 L W W L | PHI out. Mets wins NLE. Playoff WC (SDG @ COL)
7 L W L W | NYM out. Phillies wins NLE. Playoff WC (SDG @ COL)
8 L W L L | Playoff WC, SDG @ COL. Playoff NLE (NYM @ PHI). Losers out.
9 L L W W | COL out. Playoff NLE, loser vs SDG for WC (PHI@SD or SD@NY)
A L L W L | COL out. San Diego wins NLWC, Mets win NLE
B L L L W | COL out. San Diego wins NLWC, Phillies win NLE
C L L L L | COL out. San Diego wins NLWC, Playoff NLE (NYM @ PHI)

* A SDG W renders COL's result useless
** First take a look at the H2H records of each participant
COL vs SDG: 10-8
COL vs NYM: 4-2
COL vs PHI: 4-3
NYM vs SDG: 2-4
PHI vs SDG: 4-3

If SDG/COL/NYM 3 way tie... COL picks "A" "B" or "C" first. Then SDG picks
If SDG/COL/PHI 3 way tie... COL picks "A" "B" or "C" first. Then PHI picks

Game 1: "B" @ "A"
Game 2: "C" @ Winner Game 1
WC Winner = Winner Game 2
Hope that's right...
If SDG loses tomorrow... things get reeeeally interesting

Looks like we're headed towards SUPER CRAZY OMG WTF 4 TEAM INSANITY.

My hope is that the Mets lose in the NL East play in game, then win the first game and lose in the last possible play in game.

"I don't care if it's broke," said Marlins shortstop Hanley Ramirez, who left the game after being struck on the left hand by a pitch from Maine (X-rays showed the hand was not broken). "I'm gonna play tomorrow. [Screw] everybody on the Mets. I'm going to kick their [butts]."
.

marlins are gonna be amped :D

yea we'll see about that. I hope nobody throws at reyes tomorrow, hes not worth getting kicked out w/ that great bat hes wielding these days :lol

Considering you guys couldn't score 3 runs against the Nats I'd keep the trash to myself.

Very nice job, man.

Tomorrow is going to be hella interesting.

*hopes for the Mets to blow it*

A bit clearer runthrough of the tiebreakers:

ESPN.com said:
NL playoff tiebreaker scenarios (records through Saturday):

NL East

If New York (88-73) and Philadelphia (88-73) finish with the same record, they would play a tiebreaker game Monday in Philadelphia.

Wild Card

In the event two teams tie for the wild card, Colorado (88-73) would host New York, Philadelphia or San Diego (89-72) in a tiebreaker; New York would host San Diego; and San Diego would host Philadelphia.

Three teams with same record

In the event New York, Philadelphia and San Diego finish with the same record, New York and Philadelphia would play a tiebreaker Monday at Philadelphia for the division title. The loser of that game would then play a wild-card tiebreaker Tuesday against San Diego.

Four teams with same record

If Colorado, New York and Philadelphia win Sunday and San Diego loses, all would finish 89-73. New York and Philadelphia would play the NL East tiebreaker Monday; the loser would play a three-team, two-day, wild-card tiebreaker with Colorado and San Diego on Tuesday and Wednesday. In that scenario, Colorado (the team with the best head-to-head record among the three teams in the wild-card tiebreaker) would get the choice of having a bye on Tuesday or playing both games at home.

Just as I predicted back on June 8, after watching them play in a series against the Braves, the Cubs have won the Central. I said 87-75 would do it, which is pretty close.

Do yall remember that afternoon game back on May 17 when the Cubs blew a 4 run lead to the Mets with 2 outs? That game looks pretty important now.

And too bad about TBS, it is the end of an era in air-conditioned dens across the South. I do not like John Sciambi. Give me Pete Van Weiren or give me death.
