Jesus-the RedSox got Gagne?

They have the best record in the league and they just beefed up their pen even more.
That shit is disgusting.:lol

good, the yankees need melky more than they need gagne (assuming they get rid of farnsworth and joba can dominate his first time around the league).

since june 1st the red sox are just a few games over .500

Hey, anyone know anything about sopcast or other online alternatives to watch an out of market game? I'm no longer in Atlanta and would like to watch Tex's debut tonight. :D

Gotta admit, I kinda wanted the Mets to land Dotel. Our bullpen is pretty solid for the most part, but another arm down the stretch would be nice. Oh well, like Kuroyume said, at least we didn't give up a bunch for anyone. I still like the Castillo trade. He's a gold glove second baseman and he'll be perfect for the two slot in the batting order.

I can't take reading other boards right now. Stockholm Syndrome is ridiculous. People think Melky is the long term future, that Damon in CF spells utter doom, or that his numbers over the past two months suddenly correct projects and long term splits.

I am going to go read like SabermetricsAnonymous now.

Its only going to get worse when Arod leaves the team and Cashman replaces him with Beteshit.

I seriously want his job. The guy can spend $200 million and take a team that was a first place contender last year and turn it into a struggling .500 team and everybody blames everyone else except for you.

What does Cashman have to do to get fired?

Its starting to remind me of that episode of Seinfeld where George tries to get fired but everything he does Steinbrenner loves.

I'm not sure why the Bosox traded for gagne. You would think that they would try to bolster their offense rather than their greatest strength.

The Jays on the other hand.. :lol. I was hoping we'd get Laroche for Glaus somehow. Ah well. Betemit too would have been a nice piece to have.

Gagne this season: 2.16 ERA, 1.05 WHIP

Plus, look at what we gave up for him. LAL.

But it's understandable the Yankees wouldn't want to give up a super stud surefire hall of famer like Melky Cabrera.

What's with the hate for Cabrera? He's essentially Coco Crisp, but younger and might improve.

Gagne's expensive and is likely to break down any time again.

Why didn't we trade Towers, I mean shit what are we going to do with him when Chacin and Burnett are back.

Stros are in a real bad place.Team is shit and they didnt trade anyone away to get some prospects.

Towers is probably better than Chacin.. and I have no confidence that Chacin will ever come back healthy. Towers isn't eligible for free agency after this year so maybe the jays will offer him arbitration.. who knows. I doubt they could have got much for Towers anyway.. no point of trading him. The Jays are in trouble, I think.. The offense is just terrible right now, and there doesn't seem to be any plan in place to rectify this problem for 2008. Lind will hopefully help next year, but we need some left handed bats to complement the power righties. Thomas should not be guaranteed an everday job next year. We should bench him enough so that his 3rd year option doesn't kick in.

Well even if Chacin doesn't come back we still got Burnett and Janssen as starters. I don't know what the hell we are going to do with our offense, even last year when Wells didn't suck it was too inconsistent from game to game and now this year it is even worse.

Gagne hasn't pitched post July 31st since 2004. Yeah! Let's give up a solid centerfielder in Melky for a rental pitcher. The Red Sox have yet to replace Damon with someone of equal talent.

Gagne's a Boras agent, don't think he's not going on the free agency market at the end of the season.

The Yankees have very promising young arms to fill Gagne's roll.

Yankees pitchers that have potential in the bullpen:

Edwar Ramirez, Joba Chamberlain, Igawa, Britton

Dr. Strangelove said:
Haha, you said Igawa has potential

In the bullpen, yes. He's got a sneaky fastball that's good for one inning of pitching. He was the strikeout king in Japan 3 years straight, so I think he's definitely got something.

quote from someone on thebravesshow.com forums

Bobby just said on pre-game radio that Tex missed the 3pm flight to Atlanta because of the late physical and that he was on the 7:45 flight.

Mccann homer 1-1 :D

edit: Tex will apparently be at the stadium later tonight and would be able to come in the game if needed.

WOOHOO! KJ 2 run homer! 5-1

Cant wait for this offense to have to tex in the middle of it.

Yeah, LaRoche wasn't given his fair chances, remember during early in the season he had to split time between Betermt/Martinez. I hope Grady puts LaRoche in more than Nomar but Grady will most likely go with veteran over a rookie.

Edit: If Troy can still pitch why not!
This trade meh, but a trade had to be done to mitigate our beaten up bullpen. Didn't care much for betemit.

Bah this lineup is terrible, 5 hits and one fluky run.

Oh and I see we signed Mark Redman to a minor league contract, how unspectacular.
