So....the Red Sox were only the 4th team in baseball history to score 10+ runs in all 4 games of a series. The White Sox pitchers were just getting lit up all over the place.

I really like this stat.

I'm not sure if Pierre was bunting on his own or if he was told to do so

but either way lol

edit: Lastings hahahhahaha

Terrible baserunning mistake, but that would have been a double play on Alou anyway. Though i think Milledge could have made it if he'd just kept running.

I really hate when ESPN names the Player of the Game before the game is even over. I know we're not gonna come back tonight, but it's damn unprofessional.

Damn, we have some seriously important games coming up now. Four game set at Philly then a series at Atlanta.

Wow. 5/6 upcoming series have the 1st and 2nd place teams pitted against each other

ALE: Yankees v RedSox
ALW: Angels v Mariners
NLE: Mets v Phillies
NLC: Cubs v Brewers
NLW: DBacks v Padres

Gonna be one helluva start to this week.

If we can get through this stretch and not lose ground, I think we've got the division locked up.

I think the Mets can lose two games each series and still stay in pretty good shape at the top of the division. Thought the Mets have been playing really well lately, and so I think they should do well during this stretch.

I agree with you there, but that also hinges on what the team we aren't playing at the moment does. So I'd rather go for a double sweep just to be safe.

Mets can play .500 the rest of the way and win the division. As long as they don't get swept by the Phils/Braves they're fine.

Tonight's Dodgers game was a glass half-empty/full deal for me. We took 2/3 from the Dodgers so I was happy regardless, but we should've swept. Bad 3rd base coaching, unlucky bounces and unclutch hitting doomed the Mets.

Mets have to find a way to win 4 or 5 games this week. As long they don't lose any series vs Braves or Phillies things should be good. I think Mets are close to wining the division as long they don't have a losing record this week.

Yankees should've gotten Wells to be an effective lefty reliever. :(

Anyone is better than Sean Henn, who has failed hard pretty much every year since 2004/2005 or so.

Kelvim Escobar is the AL Cy Young this year IMO.. guy has been absolutely SICK for months now. Also, anyone else a little worried that Pronk might not have been on the up and up the past few years? I keep waiting for him to break out of his slump and it just isnt happening..

Oh yeah, great performance by Boomer last night.. god we needed that.

They're going to give it to Beckett, though.

He's probably going to win 20, and he's struck out a shitton of guys this year. The ERA's high, but the rest of his numbers are real good.

Yea, I think it's going to be Beckett. It could have been CC if he had more run support. No pitcher has really had a breakout year in the AL, though. Could be real close.

Pronk is a huge mystery in Cleveland. His slugging percentage is .314 since the All-Star break. People think "the shift" (3 fielders loaded up on the right side) has really gotten into his head. As he has had 10-12 singles taken away from him just in the past 2 months. So now he is trying to shoot it into left field (and been a little bit successful with it) which has effectively taken away alot of his power.

Others think pitchers are being more aggressive with him early in the count, causing him to get behind in counts and swinging at bad pitches.

3.21 is high?

For a guy competing for the Cy Young, in a league where at least 5 pitchers have better ERAs than you (and arguably all of those are in direct competition with you for the Cy), yes it's high.

It's not a high ERA in general, though.
