I can't believe there are "GA haters." I can understand that he's been pretty mediocre before the all-star break, but the guy's a good guy and I've never seen him show attitude or be an ass.

I can understand hating on Guillen or Mondesi, or Pierzynski, or anyone else that thinks they're the shit just because they can hit a ball.

And for the record, I don't blame Guillen for getting Brendan Donelly suspended, because he shouldn't have been doing that shit in the first place. And I don't blame Pierzynski for what happened in the ALCS a couple years back, because the Angels suddenly developed a "Steve Bartman" complex or something and imploded on something that they should've had control over. I just don't like them because they're dicks (I disliked Pierzynski back when he was with the Twins in 2002. GA sliding for his out to end the ALCS was one of the sweetest moments I can remember from that year).

Ani, GA hate stems from the larger hate people have for the Angels. Seemingly average players are able to play well beyond their facilities in narrow (yet important) circumstances and that drives the current groupthink on baseball up the wall. Notice how the players that satiate the sabreholics like Vlad don't even get talked about? That's no coincidence.

I look forward to Reggie Willits hitting a game-winning home run in a World Series someday... then signing for the Cardinals and winning another World Series.

I prefer the more obvious reason some people here hate GA and the Angels... because we're Yankees fans and would rejoice if the entire organization fell off the earth.

Yeah, a plane crash consuming all of the LAAAAAAAAAAAAA in a great ball of flame would definitely have me sleep much better at night.

Also, I am going to create a post comprised entirely of A-Rod hatred quotes from this thread and 2006. It will be amazing. :lol

if wang is on his game, this two run cushion may be all the yankees need.

still, rodriguez should probably go ahead and hit 53 and 54 today just to be safe.

Yay, Littlemind is now taking the team back to suckdom with peg-leg Nomore Garciaparra starting at 3rd everyday, Might as well trade LaRoche if he can't get into the lineup behind Nomore and HiLOLbrand.

so with 19 games remaining, the wild card looks like this

team, gb
new york, --
detroit, 4
seattle, 5

with the schedules like this:

new york:

@tor (3)
@bos (3)
balt (3)
tor (4)
@tam (3)
@balt (3)

detroit:

tor (1)
tex (3)
@minn (3)
@cle (3)
kan (3)
min (3)
@chi (3)

seattle:

oak (3)
tam (4)
@oak (3)
@laa (4)
cle (4)
tex (3)

seattle beating detroit today gives the yankees a little additional breathing room for what i think is the tougher road (relative to the tigers). seattle, despite today's win, is done.

Code:
Pitchers IP H R	ER	BB	SO	HR	PC-ST	ERA
P Martinez (W, 2-0)	5.0	6	0	0	1	4	0	92-65	1.80

Pedro is starting to excite me now. Two starts, two positives.

Grady does it again, Why take Penny out in that situation?

What in the fuck of all that is holy is Grady Littlemind doing with the bullpen?

Thank you Grady for fucking this inning all up in the asssssssssssssssssssssss!

FUCKING BULLPEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Broxton is done.

He ain't done, He struggled 4 days ago real bad but Littlemind has thrown him out there 3 days in a row after that. How about a fucking day off for a guy who is clearly struggling.

Penny should have stayed in, Not sure why Proctor was brought in and then Beimel should have been allowed to pitch to Bonds who is just 1 for 16 against him. FUCK! FUCK! FUCK!

Same shit different day, Now the Dodgers have wasted a great outing by Bills and Penny at a time when they can't be fucking around if they want to get back in it. Littlemind is a bullpen moron!

Yeah I was overreacting. Grady working Broxton way to much and pulling out pitcher at the wrong time. Little gave Wells a chance to work things out! why not Penny?

Why not Bills, Why not Beimel? This loss will absolutely hurt but not as much as knowing they could have swept if they had a manager with a chimp brain in his head.

Nomore K Looking to end the game plz...

Why is Grady still starting Nomore and HiLOLbrand over Andy LaRoche? Why can't Grady manage a bullpen well? This shit blows, I fully expect to lose 4 of 6 in the next 2 series against the Madres and Dbacks. That should put the team out of the Wild Card and Division races so we might get to see the kids play the rest of the way after that.

BROX :( I check and see top 8 with us up 2-1.. check 15 mins later to see Saito with another save but no such luck. Wtf dude.. 2 in a row? ><

It was a carbon copy of how Littlemind managed the bullpen in the Billingsley game. This series is just a reminder of how no matter how much talent the Dodgers have on the bench, They still have Grady Littemind managing everything. =C

EDIT: Looks like Dbacks came back on the Cards, So 5 1/2 games back of 1st place!

Cleveland Indians Magic Number: 14

Awesome that they were able to come back and split that series after the Angels led 2-0.

Bring on the playoffs. :D

More fuel to the argument that steroids don't help players at all.

I think only a fool would make that argument. I'd say it's more steroids/HGH will not make you a great baseball player but it will greatly enhance your path to it.

In 2004, Gibbons had a .246 AVG (.379 SG (!!) ) ... then in 2005 had a .277 (.516 SLG). This is the time frame that he is alledged to have used it. Also, it appears he missed a month or more due to injury in 2004. Another reason to look for help. Then wasn't on the DL at all in 2005.

I would say it made a difference.

I think it absolutely will affect SLG. It will turn singles (of which Jay didn't hit many more, look at his avg) into XBH...and it did.

Great, great point TA.

Maybe it won't make you great at hitting a baseball (the avg is not .340), but dizzam if the SLG don't scream hellllooooo.

I thought it was pretty clear I was joking >_>

add jay gibbons to the hgh AND steroids list

Add the O's team to the steroid list.

2005 O's

Jason Grimsley
Rafael Palmeiro
Jay Gibbons

Then you have all these "suspected" guys on the team.

Brian Roberts
Sammy Sosa
Miguel Tejada
Javy Lopez

Oliver Perez >>> Atlanta Braves. Holy crap on a stick.

And the funny thing is he may not be in the postseason starting rotation! :lol :lol

EDIT: Wright 2-run bomb. IT'S OVAHHHH

Moises Alou hit a triple :lol

I wish the Pirates had played this well all season.

They've scored more runs than any other team in the majors since August 1. All of this with Jason Bay doing squat and Xavier Nady out of the lineup 70% of the time.

If we were just a bad team and not a god awful team, we'd be right in the thick of the race.
