Very interesting. Ryan Howard has struck out 188 times this season and is nearing Adam Dunn's record of 195 in a season. Phillies are chasing the Mets hard so this means Howard will be playing virtually all of the remaining 11 games for the Phillies.

I'd love to see him get 200 SOs...only so that I can say I remember that record...:lol

It was a garbage call but Adams was dumb for not calling time. Anyway Litsch is looking good. Hopefully I didn't jinx him.

Uh oh, bad Litsch is back. I must have jinxed him.

Bases clearing double or homer coming right up.

edit: Oh great bases loaded. Don't fucking blow this Janssen.

Uh oh, here comes Accardo to blow it.

Note: I like Accardo but he is tired from Gibbons overusing him and can't throw his splitter so he is useless.

Oh relax you big babies.
We eat these kinda saves up. Wouldn't be one without the drama.
Think of the drama.
Fuck the drama! My heart can't handle this shit. And it's not even the playoffs o.o

Edit: God.Dam.It....

Ive noticed that Mo is horrible when his pacing is slow on the mound. When Markakis got to second and Posada had to change up the signs he kept looking back worrying about the runner.

He just needs to relax out there and not worry so much about the guy behind him. He starts to lose his control once that happens. Notice how he pitched at a much faster rate when they bases were loaded up because he couldnt worry about the guy going to third.

Wait, my friend just told me the .5 doesnt matter, and that in reality were only a game behind.

Is that true? If we finish the AL East .5 games behind we win?

If that's the case..then wow.

.....what? I mean, we do play an additional game, so the .5 could be a 0 if we win, or a 1 if we lose. So he's technically right. We just have to win the game.

Good win tonight, everyone contributed. Sosa did what he failed to do in the past. Pelfrey pitched well, he still needs an out pitch, that slider is awful.

They matter. But later in the season people put more emphasis on how far behind a team is in the loss column than in the win column.

You can't finish unevenly.

Here's some stats on Cleveland's two Raffey's. Our dynamic duo in the pen:

• Perez is second in the AL among relievers with a 1.41 ERA. Betancourt is third at 1.48. (Seattle closer J.J. Putz leads the league with a 1.36 ERA.)

• Betancourt is third in the league in allowing inherited runners to score. He's allowed fewer than 10 percent -- just three of 31. Perez has let only six of 36 score.

• Opponents are hitting just .172 against Perez (third in the AL), and just .184 against Betancourt (fifth).

• Right-handers are hitting just .155 against the righty Betancourt. Lefties are hitting only .107 against the lefty Perez.

• Perez has allowed only four of the first batters he's faced (out of 40) to reach base. Betancourt has let eight (out of 62) of the first batters on board.

• Among pitchers with at least 40 innings of work, no one -- not Putz, not Boston's Jonathan Papelbon, not the Yankees' Mariano Rivera -- has a better strikeout-to-walk ratio than Betancourt, who whiffs nearly nine hitters for every one he walks. Betancourt, by the way, pitches with a metal plate and six screws in his elbow.

• Perez hasn't given up a run in his last 12 games and has an 0.82 ERA in the second half.
