3-1 series comebacks

Code:
Year Team vs.
1968 Boston Philly
1970 Lakers Phoenix
1979 Washington San Antonio
1981 Boston Philadelphia
1995 Houston Phoenix
*1997 Miami New York (David Stern)
2003 Detroit Orlando
2006 Phoenix Lakers
2007 Dallas Golden State
:D

In '97, weren't the Knicks the #8 seed too?

Why do Miami wins always have an asterisk :(

In 1997 that's the series where I think everybody on NY got suspended or something. 1999 is when the tragedy happened, they were up 2-0 and allan houston destroyed our hearts.

No, in fact many people felt that was the Knicks best team of the 90's boasting "10 Deep" with a bench of Starks, Buck Williams, Terry Cummings, Chris Mills, and Charlie Ward. I think they were #2 or #3.

Whatever happened to Chris Childs?
Wikipedia said:
In 2001, Childs was traded to the Toronto Raptors for Mark Jackson and Muggsy Bogues, with whom he played for one-and-a-half seasons before rejoining the Nets in 2002. However, his second tenure with the Nets was disastrous, as he was suspended by the team for being overweight and out-of-shape at the beginning of the season. After twelve games in which he averaged just 1.3 points, he was finally waived and saw his NBA career come to a close.

In 2002, Childs also made the news when he was robbed at gunpoint in an incident at a Manhattan nightclub owned by Sean "P. Diddy" Combs. He allegedly lost over $30,000 in jewelery and cash.

... the Knicks, with the additions of such players as Larry Johnson and Allan Houston, registered a 57–25 record. In the playoffs, the Knicks swept the Charlotte Hornets in the first round before facing the Miami Heat (coached by Riley) in the second round. The Knicks took a 3–1 lead in the series before a brawl near the end of Game 5 resulted in suspensions of key players. Many of the suspended Knicks players, Ewing in particular, were disciplined not for participating in the altercation itself, but for violating an NBA rule stipulating that a benched player may not leave the bench during a fight (the rule was subsequently amended, making it illegal to leave the "bench area"). With Ewing and Houston suspended for Game 6, Johnson and Starks suspended for Game 7, and Charlie Ward suspended for both, the Knicks lost the series.

OK, so what year did the #8 Knicks beat the #1 Heat? Or did they just force a Game 7?

98-99, but the Knicks were NOT a typical 8th seed. They had so many new pieces and the lockout greatly hampered them.

Prior to the lockout-shortened 1998–99 season, the Knicks traded Starks in a package to the Golden State Warriors for 1994's 1st team all league shooting guard Latrell Sprewell (whose contract was voided by the Warriors after choking Warriors' head coach P. J. Carlesimo during the previous season), while also trading Charles Oakley for Marcus Camby. After barely getting into the playoffs with a 27–23 record, the Knicks started an improbable postseason run. It started with the Knicks eliminating the #1 seeded Heat in the first round after Allan Houston bounced in a running one-hander off the front of the rim, high off the backboard, and in with 0.8 seconds left in the deciding 5th game. This remarkable upset marked only the second time in NBA history that an 8-seed had defeated the 1-seed in the NBA playoffs.

Link - Pheeniks don't watch this. :D

The Mavs have got to dig deep down if they want this game. Say whatever about Nowitzki and his heart but Stack, Terry, Howard and even that whiny flopper Harris want this series. If GS doesn't want this to end up with Stephen Jackson having to choke a biatch GS needs to finish this series today. I don't think they can win a Game 7 in Dallas a.k.a Lord Stern will not allow it.

see all basketball vids by TRJ22487. He has Jordan vids w/ NBA on NBC intro ... omg I think i'm all veklempt now ... talk amongst yourselves, here's a topic: How many grams of supercrack does JAXXXXX need today to beat the Mavs?

If the Mavs find a way to win today then you really have to favor them for a Game 7 at home. The last two times a similar situation has occurred(2006 Suns/Lakers, 2005 Mavs/Rockets) it hasn't been pretty for the team attempting the upset.

People said the same thing about the Spurs last year, down 3-1. they couldn't win a game 7 in their home court.

of course, mavs need to win game 6 first.

True, but Jason Terry's suspension was a bit of a mitigating circumstance in that case.

Yeah, I've been subscribed to that user for a while now. Awesome stuff.

And to answer your query: NONE

"I've had to do a lot just to get us into the playoffs. I don't want to do that. I want to win championships. I don't want to be a one-man show."

Lol...and here I thought he couldnt be any worse.

Even with an aging Shaq and a decent supporting cast Kobe could have been competing for titles for years to come. At the very least they'd be contenders year after year.

YOU BLEW IT KOBE!!!

You had everything in place to be winning and contending, but you wanted to be the one man show you're now complaining about.

Go out and rape some more white women and quitting yer bitching.

You got that right, Just look at the Heat. They're contending for championship as we speak, Oops.

Oh come on, you gotta bring something better then that lol

...Unless you saying Dwayne Wade is at the same level as Kobe.

You're 1/2 right, they have one championship and the Kobes don't.
Have to second this. Kobe and Co. can't replace Shaq with Chris Mihm and expect to go right to the Finals. He also chased Caron out of LA, look at him now. Kobe doesn't want another talented piece on his team unless it's a frontcourt player (hence the signing of Odom) or a guy who will pass to him.

Uh, How exactly did he chase Caron Out?

I watched a lot of games and I really think Caron ever felt comfortable there. I wouldn't be surprised if he had a voice in trading him away. There are a lot a voices who make deals in the LA org but I'd think everything goes through him.

:lol :lol :lol Yeah Ok.

Everything that happens in LA from now on is kobe's fault. They should just just name him GM now...

If things were really that way Jason Kidd would be in the purple in gold right now

Wasn't one Caron's famous quotes while in LA...

"Why don't you ask GM Kobe?"

People don't seem to accept that Kobe is disliked or even feared by his own teammates. The team's demeanor is depressing and that starts in the locker room.

that was Chucky Atkins, he wasn't afraid of Kobe :lol

Just announced: J-Rich fined $35,00 for "improper interaction with a fan" after Game 5 loss...

Actually Caron and Kobe are best friends and anytime LA plays the Bucks, Kobe gets tickets for his entire family...even after Caron got traded...

Yeah, they realize the team has only 2 NBA starters and maybe 4 legit NBA players. I'd be depressed too...

3 straight titles and 4 of 5 years in the Finals.

There was a winning formula there. All you had to do was continually supply some nice role players and the winning tradition would have continued.

That rapist ran them out of town thinking he could ball hog and do it on his own. Look at where that got them. Kobe knew exactly what he was doing when he ran them out of town, he wanted it to be HIS team.

RIP the glory days of Shaq Lakers championship past. Hell, I'd rather have the Cedric Ceballos Laker teams than watch this current garbage called the Lakers.

He didn't run anybody out of town. Shaq DEMANDED a trade. Shaq saw the writing on the wall and wanted to save face. Shaq didn't want to play with Kobe anymore, and Kobe didn't want to play with Shaq anymore, the only difference was that Kobe had some leverage as he was a free agent and could just sign with another team if he wanted to (you know, he waited until his free agency to make demands, unlike other guys like Shaq or AI who demand trades while under contract and don't seem to catch a fraction of the shit Kobe does) and ultimately Dr. Buss rightly sided with Kobe. Why is this entire situation so difficult for you people to understand?

Come on Rockets!

REVENGE IN UTAH!

So the fact that one-man show snitched on Shaq had nothing to do with it? fuck outta here with that BS. Shaq had every right to leave, as a certain someone couldnt handle the media blasting and started singing...

Way to skirt the point. snitching to the cops was a bitch move, but you act like everything was roses and rainbows between Shaq and Kobe before that. They flatout hated eachother from the moment they both arrived in LA. Shaq had every right to leave...even though he was under contract...yet Kobe DIDN'T have every right to demand a situation that he felt was best for him...when he was a free agent. Great logic at work.

The supposed 'Rabid' crowd in Utah sure is quiet tonight for the most part. Maybe becuse the Jazz are playing JVG-ball so far tonight.
