All I can say is that the Jays and Angels have always provided some of the most entertaining games in recent memory for me. They're always close and tense games.

how is that even possible. the red sox really overshadowed some teams crapiness for a long damn time. the phillies are another franchise lucky that the red sox were around taking a lot of the heat for a while.
 
The umpires hate the Jays. It's obvious Hunter was out.

Also, fuck you Ryan. Burnett should have finished that game even if he was tired.

Well, a 25 year drought is a lot smaller than a 100 year drought and a 85 ( or so, don't give a fuck about the Sox) drought.

It was so close and there was no good angle showing Hunter bring out.
 
Nice to see Haren have a great outing today. Now it's back on the road where the Dbacks have blown this year. Hopefully they can put together a good trip.

Buster Posey hit 2 HRs in the 1st game today, just hit one in the second to put us up 5-4. Later half of the inning, he just threw out a baserunner trying to steal 2nd to end the inning. Best player in college baseball and your future #1 pick. :D
 
so i got picked to be a volunteer at the all-star game escorting people to their seats. there's a mandatory meeting june 14...the same day as my best friends engagement party. i wonder if i can make it, or if it's even worth it.

anyone ever do something like this?
 
In the midst of the unraveling in the seventh, McCann had words with Jerry Hairston, who McCann and Blanco said afterward had said something to Blanco for bunting to break up the no-hitter.

"I just wanted to let him know that we're still trying to win the ball game, no matter if he's got a no-hitter or not," McCann said. "That's Blanco's game. It's not like it was me out there trying to bunt."

I was wondering why McCann and Hairston almost got in a fight during the game. I think its silly that people think its wrong to bunt to try to break up a No-Hitter. Do they expect the other team to not try to win the game?

It's amazing the Dbacks are 5-10 in their last 15 yet they still hold a 4.5 game lead right now. The NL west is so bad.
 
Buster finished with a 2nd HR.. 4 on the day over 2 games. Time to close out Tulane tomorrow and move on to the Super Regional.

The Dodgers are so bad right now, that I can't focus on the Majors.
 
Reliever Tom Gordon, called upon the protect the lead in the eighth, walked the first batter he faced, pinch-hitter Luis Gonzalez, on five pitches, and the crowd began to get loud and antsy.

Gordon then threw two straight balls to dangerous Hanley Ramirez, the potential tying run.

That was enough for Jimmy Rollins, who trotted in from shortstop and let Gordon have it.

"He got on my ass," Gordon said. "He said, 'What the heck are you doing? Throw strikes. Babe Ruth's dead.' "

Rollins' little pep talk worked. Gordon turned into a different pitcher. He threw three straight fastballs and struck out Ramirez. He then retired Jeremy Hermida on a pop-up and Jorge Cantu on a fly ball to make everyone in the ballpark breathe easier.

Brad Lidge overpowered the Marlins for his 13th save in the ninth, but on this day, the best relief pitching was done by Gordon - with an assist from Rollins.

"After he talked to me, I just tried to be as nasty as I can," Gordon said.

Rollins didn't actually invoke Babe Ruth's name during his trip to the mound. Gordon made that up because he thought it sounded good, and he was right. It's a cool quote. As for what was actually said, Rollins didn't have full recall.

"I don't know what I said, but it made sense to him," Rollins said. "It was an important inning. I told him if he didn't get out of it I was going to talk about him. I just challenged him a little bit. We have respect for each other and I knew there was a chance I could strike a chord with him."

Actually the online ballots have stats right next to them...

But first you have to ask yourself who is the ASG for, the recognition of the players or the enjoyment of the fans? If it's for the players you're definitely right; if it's for the fans then the argument comes up that shouldn't they see anyone they want? If they want to see Torii Hunter start in CF shouldn't they vote him in? If they want to see the worst statistically defensive SS in the game (
Derek Jeter
) shouldn't they? If they want to see Brad Lidge come out in a big Psyduck ccostume so he can give up a homer to Manny Ramirez that reaches escape velocity shouldn't they?

Personally I agree w/ you, but it's a matter of perspective.
