Ah yes, another wonderful year of the greatest sport on Earth has arrived. Our nation's pastime, baseball has been America's game since Abner Doubleday rounded some bases sometime during the Civil War. To celebrate this time honored tradition, MLB has wisely decided to open yet another season in Japan.

"Opening day schedule:"

openday.jpg

The Red Sox and some other team Japanese people have never heard of have been offered up as sacrifices, doomed to all get intestinal parasites and have their menstrual cycles thrown off by weeks. The reanimated corpse of Jason Varitek has already protested MLB's annoying new tradition-- what anime series will you not be watching in protest of this annoying new trend?

Real opening day:

There are epic matchups all around the league, including TBD for the Phillies against new toy El TBD on Nueva York's own New York Mets in a rematch of last year's epic, historical collapse by nuestro equipo.

What will this year's thread encompass? Another meltdown of epic proportions? How many SpoDaddies will show up, and how many SpoDaddies will leave? Did you Choose, Believe, and Rise? A-Rod Did. How many computers will you destroy in the ultimate quest to save baseball's purity? How many shirtless pics of Pat Burrell? How much persecution of La Raza will Los Anglos inflict? Tune in March 25, 2008 and stick around until November.

How will your team do?

LET'S GO 2008!

Now some official business:

Let's get stickied, mmk.

Fail of a thread. No Rays in first post. Who nominated you again? Should've been Siamese dreamer.

Predictions:

March 31 @ Baltimore - Shields Rays
April 2 @ Baltimore - Garza Rays
April 3 @ Baltimore - Sonnanstine Rays
April 4 @ New York - Jackson or Hammel Rays
April 5 @ New York - Jackson or Hammel Rays
April 6 @ New York - Shields Rays
April 7 @ New York - Garza Rays
April 8 vs. Seattle - Sonnanstine Rays

No Yankee fan should ever make the official thread.

Mets Championship this year

Yes. I need the Mets to win to counteract the Pats massive failure and the recent Flyers ineptitude.

Funny story:

The Rays Yankees feud has sold more tickets this year than the Boston Yankees feud.

Discuss.

Add the "Rays" into the title post and this will be on the first page.

No one wants to read a Yankee's fans thoughts on the league.

Will this be THE YEAR for the Indians?

Of course not, we were close last year, and we chose to do jack shit over the off-season, while our league and divisional rivals grew stronger. /bitter cleveland fan.

The pics are .tiffs, I'm converting them.

I haven't made my predictions yet. :D

You should list every team along with every outspoken fan of the team on the boards. That way we know who to heckle when we beat them!

Can any Jays fans tell me the biggest changes this season? I haven't been following them for almost 2 seasons now :(

What to look forward to? Who to watch? Who is likely to fall flat, etc...

As a non-Jays fan I can tell you that Halladay will become a Ray soon!

The NL East is up for grabs again this year. It will be a three team race between The Chokers, the 10,000 Loss Losers and the Atlanta Braves. Trying to forget their horrible collapse last year at the hand of the Mighty Marlins the Chokers brought in Johan Santana to try to get them back on track. Their trade will prove to be useless because just before Former Choker (Now the best pitcher ever!) Tom Glavine left the Mets, he left a present for Santana to ensure he would not last past March. The Phillies also had a horrible off-season. They spent their off time believing that they were actually winners. This is not the case. By mid-march they will realize just who they are and come back to normal. This all but ensures victory for the Braves, the best team to ever walk the face of the planet.

Atlanta Braves 95-67

These two Battery Mates will help defeat The Chokers and 10,000 Loss Losers which will bring peace to the world.

The Chokers 93-69

The Chokers will once again watch as their fans hide in shame....and then choke on a hog dog. Muhahaha!

10,000 Loss Losers 92-70

Big Mouth will finally shut up and the Losers will begin their journey toward becoming the first Franchise to reach 20,000 losses.

Washington "We got a real stadium before the Marlins" Nationals 73-89

Mighty Marlins 69-93

ninja scooter's prediction of the year: Richie Sexson sucks.
That's not much of a, you know, prediction. It's more of what we in the business call a fact.

But now onto business, Braves fans. This will be our best chance to get back to the playoffs. We have a full year of Tex. We have (hopefullly) three starting pitchers to count on. We have a stacked bullpen. We have voodoo dolls for the Mets forty man roster, and we will use them. We will either get starts out of Mike Hampton or we will turn him into poison slurry which we will use to poison our enemies. We will offer no quarter for our enemies- we will kill them and use their bones as weapons to slay their children.

This. Is. Our. Year.

The Red Sox and A's are playing tuesday right? I'm on Spring Break so I'll probably be able to watch them live.

edit: yep I was right, tuesday. I hate these overseas openings. FU Bud Selig!

That's not a prediction, its a statement.

I say he sucks but still out slugs Jose Vidro.

Edit: shit didn't even see Triumph before posting.

This makes me wonder how much tex will get. I know it will be at least 20 million per year.

Braves winning the divison this year is like hell freezing over aka not going to happen.Your old ass pitchers will be tired out and be lucky to stay above .500. After some bad luck last year Mets will win the whole thing.

Fuck, another year to put up with deranged Mets fans.

We all know 100 years makes it the year of the Cubs now!

I'm betting closer to 25 million. And it will be from the Yankees- it just makes too much sense, with Giambi coming off the books and them not adding a long term solution at 1B in the offseason.
