Hopefully you guys can sweep them.

I really despised the D-Backs for being such a statistical outlier last year. They were probably the luckiest team of all time. Dodgers and Padres were both much better teams offensively and defensively. However, they actually look like a good team this year, which is kinda scary.
True but at least Arizona won a round last year vs. the favored Cubs. Plus the young talent they have is ridiculous, it's kind of scary to think they possibly could have had both Haren AND Santana if they could pay him. Plus Eric Byrnes is GRITTY!

I just checked the Mets Classics game today and it's the Mets vs. The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim California Love and Peace blahblahblah from June 11, 2005 ... and I'm thinking what the fark happened on that day?? I don't remember an epic game, maybe you can help me out Karak?

EDIT: nvm I found it, now I remember:

Cliff Floyd hit a three-run homer with two outs in the 10th inning and Marlon Anderson had a tying inside-the-park home run in the ninth, lifting the New York Mets to a 5-3 comeback victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday night.

Just to be more specific about the rotation...Carl Pavano was our Opening Day starter. Yankees starting pitching was abysmal in the early going.

Pavano was replaced with such luminaries as Jeff Karstens, Darrell Rasner, Matt DeSalvo, Tyler Clippard, and Chase Wright. Igawa was replaced by Roger Clemens on his last legs.

The Yankee pitchers this year after Pettitte and Wang don't have a really tough job to do; they just have to suck less over the course of a full season than the ultraterrible group of Karstens/Clippard/Wright/DeSalvo/Pavano/Clemens did.

Even if Hughes and Kennedy get demoted to the minors to straighten out and come back later...even if Mussina gets beat up over the next two months...even if Joba takes his lumps as a starter like Hughes and Kennedy have thusfar...they will still likely do better than that group above - and that group above made the postseason.

rose colored glasses and all that i guess. well, it doersn't really matter now 'cause hughes is out till july with the broken rib.

Good start for the Bombers.

IPK, you have your run support. Make it stick!

[EDIT: Not rose-colored specs; I'm just not going to be unrealistic about this season - for better or worse. Yeah, we might not make the postseason...but if we play like we are capable of, and those guys pitch even just sort of decent, we can do it.]

I stand by what i said. that's why i didn't even bother to make predictions this year. and i'm usually pretty close to the mark.
let me throw a general question out there, is girardi gonna get fired if he doesn't make the playoffs?
or loses in the first round? 'cause that's what happened to torre. and i thought our guys were supposed to be healthier this year seeing as girardi is a drill sergeant and all that.

I guess its just something that is not easy for other people to understand. Yes there are points where you expect it and it becomes a bit comical, but it still gets you down. The point when it doesn't is the point when you've stopped being invested in sports.
Well there's a difference between being invested and being masochistic.

MCFC (see current avatar) is an illustrious symbol of tragicomedy in English soccer but the fans shrug it off with a, "fucking typical" most of the time.

I'm going to cry if the Rays get the playoff spot or even worse the Wild Card. :lol

I wish we could just fast forward to August. :lol

Trust me, you don't.

But seriously, I thought Girardi had a honeymoon period this year. Yanks aren't even favored this year, so I thought 2009 was the put-up of shut-up-year.

Speaking of avis, where is that GTA IV template? I need to change my avi again.

Wow I didn't realize they deviated from Lord Pythagorus that much. Jeez, 10 games
90-72 despite being outscored by 20 runs across the season? That's gotta be more than 10 games. A 10 game difference would put them at 85-77, which is still a winning record.

80-82, a 20 game difference, would be more in line with what their run differential would predict.

Edit: you meant they won 10 more games than they should have. Okay. I was thinking 20 games in the standings.

Before I go, I just want to say Oliver Perez completely fucked himself by not signing in the offseason. Good luck getting the money now.

FRANKMAN. OUT

damn Greinke threw a great game today and we couldn't win. We had actually scored some runs lately so I thought there was some small hope.

Zack with a 7 ip, 4 hits, 2 HRs given up for 2 ers, 9k performance. Of course, 2 or 3 runs is far too much for the Lolyals offense to score

Wait. The Mets offered money to Oliver Perez over the offseason?

lol

Brewers.

To all the defeatest Yankee fans, is that what Red Sox fans used to sound like? If so, I'm sorry.

no, that's a different case. and it isn't defeatist to be realistic about your team's chances when two of your starting pitchers have a strict innings limit. this team will be stronger once those two young pitchers get their stuff togheter.

Correct Answer is the Pittsburgh Pirates, followed by the San Francisco Giants.

It's quite obvious that like most of Florida, you have never heard of the Marlins.

You're right. I would have preferred if Downs came in and blew the game again like last Burnett start.

Are you paranoid or what?

No need for Downs either, if he is injured he should be on the DL. I would have preferred Carlson + Accardo in the 8th and Ryan in the 9th.

lol putz?

Yeah I'll take a dominating Burnett on a cold night over an Accardo without a working splitter.. thanks.
