Buster Olney reports in his blog for ESPN.com that Johan Santana’s velocity is down 3-4 miles per hour from a couple of years ago - according to some talent evaluators.

Olney further explains:

“He is short-arming the ball more than he has in the past — and this is after some red flags appeared in the physical examination he underwent before signing with the Mets. Sources say his shoulder showed some wear and tear, which is not unusual for a pitcher of Santana’s age. This is not to say Santana is not an effective pitcher now, but all of this information makes you wonder how effective he will remain during the course of his multi-year deal.”

Hollywood the best pitcher in the NL East confirmed!

Sorry pal, but he's got a ways to go!

So basically that article say with Johan's dropping velocity he's throwing 91-93 consistently this year. Cy Johan indeed.

I'm watching the evening news, and WABC is reporting that Alou is probably going back to the DL. I listened to M&MD most of the day and they didn't bring it up.

Omar needs to look elsewhere, we can't rely on this guy, he's made of glass.

So the legendary Braves pitcher Tim Hudson is taking the mound against some guy named Johan tonight. Will it be 4 straight games of humiliation for the Mets? My guess: yes.

mine.

NL was so difficult because there are so many good players. First Base was especially hard.

AL was difficult for a different reason, so many crappy players that it's hard to pick who's really an all start this year.

Ooh, all-star balloting! I filled in 3 of these at the new National's park a week ago, but I was drunk and don't remember who I voted for. As a matter of fact, all I really remember is that I didn't like the park that much except for the concessions and my memorial plastic cup. Also, the game was literally won on the first pitch homerun. The Nats suck.

Anyway, my picks (based on last year as well as this year to smooth out sample size issues):

AL
1st - Youklis
2nd - Brian Roberts
3rd - ARod
SS - Jeter
C - Posada, but Victor Martinez if Posada can't play
OF - Granderson
OF - Manny
OF - Magglio Ordonez
DH - Ortiz

NL
1st - Berkman (because he's a monster this year)
2nd - Utley
3rd - Wright or Chipper, they're both awesome
SS - Hanley Ramirez
C - McCann
OF - Holliday
OF - Beltran
OF - Barry Bonds (because he should still be playing)

oh god, so true :lol

I guess third base is a lock though. DH is Cust, I guess that tells you enough. I'm not knocking him, but this year is pretty bad so far.

Holy crap, I was looking at the statistics...the AL shortstops are PATHETIC compared to the NL group this year.

lolz all around....We're knocking Oswalt around, Bourne fixing the game with WTFWUZDAT throws. And the messsss imploding

:-)

Oh yea, Ryan...Hes back.

Yep, huge difference. Very pathetic.

Haha, the camera just went to Willie. He had this incredible "Dude, I am soooooo getting fired" look on his face. Thanks for showing up, New York!

They called in a looguy to get the last out in the 9th. Can't blame Bobby for not having faith in Acosta, but damn, our bullpen churning is ridiculous.
