Epic Lulz at the Mets. You guys are the fucking Mariners of the NL. I didn't realize it before we played you guys this week but your team mirrors ours in so many ways.

Thoughts for today

- Pirates offense is pretty good this year. Better than I thought after looking at the numbers.
- Those 5 pitches Lyon threw yesterday must have been reeeeeally strenuous that he couldn't pitch against Mike Lowell with the game on the line.
- Mets :lol :lol :lol
- Arroyo :lol :lol :lol
- Sherrill is pretty nasty
- I love how Teixeira hits a 2-run homer to ensure that Atlanta loses their 20th 1-run game.
- Mets :lol :lol :lol

Brendan Harris & Brian Buscher just went back to back off of Trevor goddamn Hoffman. Holy shit!

Also, Dennys Reyes is going to get the win after throwing 1 pitch. :lol

Hmmm, one team 2 games under .500 w/ key injuries, yet is only 3 games out of 1st.

vs.

Another team that is twentysome games under .500, their clubhouse chemistry rivals spore mold and is so far out of 1st place not even light can escape the hole they've dug for themselves.

... yep, carbon copies!!

I hadn't caught anything in a little while, but goddamn. Willie Randolph is gone?

But CITO has returned to Toronto? Awesome, he rules. :)

Two teams with horribly constructed rosters by GMs who misunderstood their teams true talent levels and thought they really were close to being contenders again this year. Two teams whose misunderstanding of their talent level caused them to trade for staff aces when they had a whole host of other roster issues to address. Two teams with first basemen who are finished as positive contributors at the major league level. Two teams that are horrifically bad at defense and have pitching staffs that are largely dependent on their defense to bail them out.

For fuck's sake the Mets have fucking Fernando Tatis and Luis Castillo in their lineup. That's ever bit as bad as Jose Vidro and Miguel Cairo.

And don't give me the key injuries bullshit. How many more games would the M's have won with a healthy JJ Putz? A healthy Bedard?

If the Mets played in the AL their record would probably be just as bad as the Mariners.

Arroyo is almost as bad as the Mets

Francesa was all over Arroyo a few weeks back, wanted the Yanks to deal for him. Not sure what he saw in him, besides that outing against a pathetic Mets offense.

The ump needs to learn the rules better. The pitcher can't keep switching which arm he's going to throw with during an at bat.

As a matter of fact, they made it so a pitcher had to choose which side they'd pitch from before an at-bat to stop exactly that kind of chaos caused by a switch-hitter.

Still, if I had a son I'd either teach him a knuckleball or how to pitch from both sides (my wife is lefty, so that should help on the near ambidextrous front) since they're pretty damn effective and rare. Hopefully it could land him a scholarship or something.

wow, the Jays got screwed on that double play as far as I could see. I missed any other replays besides the end of inning one on fsn, but it didn't look like they got Inglett out at second.

Dude the Mets ARE and have been contenders, there is no misunderstanding.

I'll take your JJ Putz injury over Pedro Martinez, Moises Alou, Ryan Church, Duaner Sanchez, etc. Please.

Pitching staffs dependent on defense? Horribly defensively? Now you're just being ignant.

Not quite. Tatis is a bench guy and Castillo is a starting 2B who does his job.

Don't think it's real but if it is it's INCREDIBLE.
I would probably marry this chick and then drink
even more
when she got out of shape and couldn't even run up the stairs anymore.

This is rumored to be Eric Wedge's fantasy team. I heard he is looking to make a mid-season trade for Brandon Inge.
I have DeRosa in the GAF league. :S

Don't laugh, we just lost a series to them. Badly.
And got swept by San Diego. I think the Mets' record against last place teams assuming a win today will be like 8-11. Then watch them go split/take 3 out of 4 vs. the Yanks. They're consistently inconsistent.

Also a change is coming. Not only is Church back this weekend,

The team has claimed Andy Phillips, the former Yankee who was designated for assignment Sunday by the Cincinnati Reds, major-league sources say.

Phillips, a right-handed hitter, will give the Mets an alternative to the left-handed Carlos Delgado, who has struggled defensively and is batting only .230 with 11 home runs and 35 RBIs.

Phillips will also serve as a right-handed hitter off the bench.

The Mets also could use Phillips at second, where he has appeared in two games this season and four in his career. The team's regular second baseman, Luis Castillo, has been dealing with physical issues all season.

Phillips, who was only 3-for-21 with a double for the Reds, batted .315 in 40 games for Class AAA Louisville with five homers and 22 RBIs.

Former Reds general manager Wayne Krivsky, who was responsible for bringing Phillips to Cincinnati, recently joined the Mets as a special assistant to general manager Omar Minaya.

Thank God the Phillies are sucking like normal. If they were playing decently then the Braves would be 10 gms out.

Sucks he didn't get through the 7th (With such a huge lead you leave him in for the last out... is what I would think), but again, another quality start for him. Yes it was the Pirates, but they are 5th in runs scored, 10th in hits in the league.

The entire division is playing like shit. Going into the night the division was 9-23, or something like that, in the last 8 days or so.

:lol @ that gif

Joba is giving the Yankees waaaay more than we could have asked for. Young power pitcher still learning the ropes in his second year of professional baseball period and he's performing like this.

Why did people want him in the 8th inning again?
