Well done. :lol :lolZep said:
I just hope they dont run out of Cortisone. Oh and hopefully they can draw a team that has to go through a hurricane then a day later fly to another city and play the same day. The Cubs will be set in the playoffs then.AirBrian said:Carlos Alberto Zambrano is the man.
That is all.

Not so fast AirBrian, you'll jinx them worse than Bartman:lol I'm not saying that the Astros would have won if they had actually been in a "neutal" stadium, but it definitely wouldn't have been a no-hitter.AirBrian said:I actually unofficially agree with Astr0h fans, but yeah, 100 FUCKING YEARS!

Why is it that the Braves and Astros always play each other at the very end of the year? It seems like its been that way the past few years.ScythD said:The Astros still have a good shot of making the playoffs, look at their schedule after tommorrow:
Sept. 16 at Florida
Sept. 17 at Florida
Sept. 18 at Florida
Sept. 19 at Pittsburgh
Sept. 20 at Pittsburgh
Sept. 21 at Pittsburgh
Sept. 23 vs. Cincinnati
Sept. 24 vs. Cincinnati
Sept. 25 vs. Cincinnati
Sept. 26 vs. Atlanta
Sept. 27 vs. Atlanta

and maybe 1 more agains the cubs. Their currently 2 back of the Brewers, who have to play 6 against the Cubs! With any luck we might just slip in.
Just now got back? Sounds like you had a great night.Evenflow said:just got back from the game, magical, felt like a dream

Actually I disagree. Hating the big bad Yankees is something every fan can believe in... much like Change.pollo said:Not as epic as a Mets collapse, but after the beating you've had here in the last 2 years, I expect nothing more from you.Playoffs 14/15 years. Us Yank fans have already adjusted to the fact were not making it. It's cool dude. Focus on actually winning the East this time; because if you guys actually blow it again, you'll be hearing it from all of Yank-GAF for years to come.
Not really. The only truly suspect player is Angel Berroa and he's been hitting decently enough lately and Raffy should be back anyway. DeWitt isn't any better or worse than most 2B in the league but has been hitting well lately and has a decent number of RBI given his limited play time this season. I doubt Kent is back this year but he adds more depth if he can make it back in time.reggieandTFE said:And all you people thinking that the Dodgers are a threat need to get some perspective. Despite playing against the weakest division in baseball, their record would put them in fifth place in the central. Manny is a super hero playing for a contract, but the rest of the lineup is still suspect.
I hear Bill James is available.eznark said:So.....
if you were me, who would you be hoping the Brewers hire to manage this team after the second straight embarrassing collapse?
I'm hoping they hire some accountant from Manhattan with a sound grasp on the finer points of sabermetrics.
Or a computer. I would settle for a computer as well.

The Dodgers have the best, deepest pitching in baseball. I expect we finish the year with 85-86 wins which will be nearly 10 over .500. I'm okay with that.
Meier said:A Cubs match-up worries me a little bit as they had our number during the year but most of the games were close. Our offense has only scored under 5 runs twice in September thus far and naturally both have been shutouts. If Raffy does make it back, the difference should be quite noticable.

"Hitting never bothered him. He's probably a week away [from playing], without setbacks. We'll throw him out there for maybe five innings, once he's convinced there are no limitations. He's doing all the baseball stuff."
Furcal said his baseball activities have been slowed by a tight hamstring, and Torre said he wasn't sure whether Furcal will be able to help the club if it makes the postseason.
"He'll be the toughest call," Torre said. "Even if he's ready, he's been away so long, can you expect him to go out every day, every inning? We need him around, active or not. He'll probably be the very last thing we know. It's not about his back, it's about his conditioning; all the stuff you do in Spring Training. But I'd rather have tough decisions that beat the bushes to find people to fill positions."

Seriously? Bobby Valentine. I kid you not. One of the most knowledgeable guys in baseball and loves the game. He might rub some people the wrong way in how he goes about his business, but he's a good teacher and gets the most out of young players. Plus he's probably coming back to pursue a job in the States in the offseason.eznark said:seriously though, who do you think is the best manager for a youngish team like the Crew?
I liked Frank Kremblas, but clearly the Brewers did not as they just fired him.

Yep, that would probably be my choice. Plus he isn't boring:The Frankman said:Seriously? Bobby Valentine. I kid you not. One of the most knowledgeable guys in baseball and loves the game. Fuck you too. Are you really that much of an asshole that you say stupid things like this? Really? Galveston and Houston have billions of dollars worth of damage done to them, people in need of rescuing with no power or water. And the best you can do is to taunt the fans of the team? Really? Really pathetic is what it is.Brian Fellows said:Awwwww poor crybaby Astros fans. :lol
The bullpen has just been shit during the second half of the season (after being the driving force behind that strong first half). Seeing DJ Carrasco and Dotel runing out to the mound makes me want to subconsciously punch the wall.Meier said:This can't be stressed enough.
