ANYTHING IS POSSIBLEEEEEEEEEEE

LOL. ANYTHING IS POSSIBLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

Garnet was really really trying to get some kind of endorsement or legendary soundbite there. It was so obvious! Anything is possible! He acts as if there is a miraculous connotation to a basketball player winning a basketball championship. WOW, Now I've seen it all.

You know everyone in the organization is down on him, right? Huston Street, someone in the Mets system (Kunz?), or some hotshot setup guy will get the job (Marmol?).
Stop ruining my dreams of NY Post headlines. >:(

Albert Pujols destroys him in all the other statistical categories
And last I heard, you don't need the other stats to win the Batting Title.

I don't get it...-
:lol nice edit. I couldn't figure out wtf you said for a minute or two.

Garnett isn't like that at all. It was genuine. However he is batshit insane.

haha, look at his face! That is TOTALLY WVU student section facial hair/recessive gene look.

EDIT: Reading comprehension FTL. Eh, Pete Rose is still tough. And, hell, he was the toughest out in his day, too.

And, he may have been the "toughest in baseball" according to Sports Illustrated, but would he do this?
You forgot the most important word in there.

<3 Kara :lol

The toughest out in baseball? I think that's actually Jeter, even though he's still trying to make it obvious with that "every kind of mo" commercial still on the air.

The magazine is about 8 years old. Nomar is clearly not the same player that he once was.

Yesterday, ESPN was pouring dirt on the Mets grave but this morning on SportsCenter they were saying that it was premature to bury them. That channel is such a joke.

As far as MVP talk I still am rooting for Pedroia who is a long shot, but in comparison to Irchiro's MVP season very similar. I forget the numbers he needs to boost up but I remember hearing he is having the best season by a second baseman since Jackie Robinson.

MVP I still feel the player's team should be in the playoffs to get any serious consideration but also it is the hardest to determine due to the limited exposure to out of market teams.

Dear god no. Its people like you that make people like me hate Red Sox fans.

Pedroia is good but he's not that good. Looking at the more advanced metrics his numbers seem to be in line with someone like Raul Ibanez or Marlon Byrd.

In terms of traditional stat lines Bret Boone's 2003 was a better offensive season by a second baseman.

Boone 2003: .294/.366/.535 140 OPS+
Pedroia 2008: .326/.377/.495 124 OPS+

I'm sorry if Pedroia finishes in the top 5 for AL MVP I'm carpet bombing Boston.

Karmic retribution for all those cheap saves this season. Also further proof that Rivera should win the award.

1. Chipper Jones, Atl .365
2. Albert Pujols, StL .354

Batting average is a stupid and empty number. Also I don't know what you're arguing here. The difference in batting average between Chipper Jones and Pujols is 5 HITS. 5 fucking hits. I'm too lazy to figure out what makes up for the difference in 70 POINTS of Slugging but I'm sure its more than 5 base hits.

Wasn't Boone a roider?

Never proven and irrelevant, the point was that Pedroia's numbers aren't the best since Jackie Robinson. They're good numbers for a second baseman but not MVP worthy.

If you want another example how about Jeff Kent the year he won the MVP:

.334 /.424 /.596 162 OPS+ Still a lot better than Pedroia's raw slashline.

If I had more time or one of the good sites went further back historically I'm sure I could come up with even better stuff to show why Pedroia isn't worthy of the MVP. Good player yes, not an MVP.

I'm sorry, I quit following baseball. Now I'm into competitive chess and hockey.

lol kidding no one is in to hockey

Doyers gonna lose this game, Then the Giants will end the playoff hopes!

:lol Sweeney is going to pinch hit for Berroa!!! Now It is clear that Torre is playing to lose...

:lol :lol :lol Kemp is a goon ass moron!

Kemp's base-running definitely needs improving... guy makes a lot of boneheaded plays. I like that he tries to make things happen, but the mistakes can be costly. Big pitch by Chan Ho to get that double play in the 9th.

Not a very good game by Manny today unfortunately. Hopefully the bottom of the order can step up if we get another at bat.. guy on 2nd with 1 out now though. Shit. :|
