Baten Kaitos is not really a card game guys. I can't explain how, so I'll leave that to Dragona or ivysaur.

I think around 130k in America, maybe a tad less. It sold 20k its first month, and then 40k the second, and then the rest was from there on. BK1 did about 80-100k in Japan, and did very well in Europe (France especially).
BK2 did about 30k (possibly more, I stopped keeping track) overall in Japan.

Yeah, being on GameCube is bad enough, but after the long boring summer even the dedicated RPG fan types are looking at a game that falls squarely in the middle of the Disgaea 2 -> Xenosaga III -> Okami -> Valkyrie Profile 2 -> Tales of the Abyss -> FF XII -> FF III -> Zeruda stream. A lot of those games are going to do badly from the competition, and sadly BKO is the most likely candidate. :-(

Could the low numbers just be a simple case of supply & demand? I know that most of the local gamestores here only received at the most 3 or 4 copies of the game.
Add to the fact that this is a niche Nintendo released title (who rarely does print ads in other game magazines anyways), released in a flood of RPG's for other systems during the same month & received little to no interest in more of the mainstream US game media (EGM's low scores & Game Informer's typical bullshit reviews add to the confusion)
I did my part & bought the game on release at least. Here's hoping that Baten Kaitos DS gets developed besides the low sales....

I actually preordered the game on September 25...
Not that I thought I had to, but I thought I might as well because I needed to order a textbook from Amazon.ca.
But it still hasn't even shipped yet!!!
Then just today, I get this email from Amazon:

I actually expected to play it before Tales of the Abyss, but I'm 6 hours in ToA now thanks to this backlog.
Also, my textbook order got delayed because of this?! Man, I'm pissed.

I bought Baten Kaitos Origins. Kinda regreting it now, not because it isn't a good game but it will be 19.99 in the next month or two.
I really need to wait on every game except from Atlus (damn limited shipment/first run only bastards!) for how well it sold. If it sold poorly, I'll wait a month or two for it drop in price. Could save me a lot of money in the long run.

If I get banned for saying BKO is a good game but I regret buying it when it was full price, or liking XSEP3, then there's something definitely wrong with this forum.
I want to keep the game, just could have saved some money by waiting a couple months. Same with a lot of games I should be waiting on now.

I haven't bought this game or BK1. I recently spent around £600 on games, for my GC and GBA this was between July and August, so I kinda gotta save some money. Retaining from buying any game related stuff, even Wii, for now.
And I am in a difficult financial situation. Not exactly life or death, my parents will always back me up, they practically give me as much as I need. But I don't want to be spoilt, and I prefer to acheive on my own merits. And they've already given me way more than i deserve. So until I am earning something again, no more unnecessary purchasing.

I loved the original, Origins is still good but doesn't match the first (though it does offer some improvements).
Incredibly poor sales though. If it was on one of the 3 next-gen systems, it would have definitely sold better.
