Diablo 3 will not come out while WoW is still going incredibly strong. They have no reason to compete with themselves.

Unless Diablo 3 turns into an MMO or Pseudo-MMO it's not going to be directly competing with WoW. It would be like saying Blizzard shouldn't be making Starcraft 2 as it would be competing with WoW.

The gameplay of Starcraft, Diablo, and WoW aren't very similar and wouldnt really be competing with each other.

Plenty of people still play Diablo 2 online (slightly below Starcraft numbers) and it hasn't interfered with WoW's growth.

People who enjoy MMOs won't necessarily enjoy repeated Hell runs and rapid mouse clicking for loot, an Diablo fans might not enjoy WoW like grinding. Some people may play both but I don't see Diablo 3 as a big concern to Blizzard's WoW numbers.

I definitely want to check out the profession and item design panel. Starcraft lore could be cool. I was kind of hoping they'd have a raid design panel but I guess it was not to be. Realistically, I'll probably spend most of my time in line waiting to play SC2 or the next WoW xpac.

I just picked up my bag of stuff from Blizzcon. The murloc suit/beta key card says it's for "entry into the Beta test for a future, unannounced Blizzard title" which pretty much rules out StarCraft II. Unsurprisingly, it looks like the beta will be for Wrath of the Lich King.

Yes, and you're likely right. It'll start sooner (likely a fair bit) than StarCraft 2's , and much sooner than when they'd want to bring in mass BlizzCon attendees. SC2 will likely be just trusted and valuable testers for a long time, relative to most betas. They may just expand alpha, but as whole I wouldn't be surprised if their use of public testers (meaning outside of F&F) was longer than WC3 and SC's betas combined.

Pretty much all but confirmed to be the next expansion to World of Warcraft called Rise of the Lich King.

Somebody at the official WoW forums has linked to a patent site where Blizzard registered the name yesterday.

Details of the next expansion appeared 2 days ago at the official WoW European site for about 10 minutes and then were suddenly pulled. A ton of buzz is going around in the WoW community with various sites reporting about the expansion.
